...America’s strong! America is one of the strongest in the world, but Rome was at one point as well. America has many strong components that can keep it from falling just like Rome did. This great land has its faults but it also has things to keep it properly functioning and keeps having tourists visiting from all over the world. It is the land of the free and nothing can or will change the fact of that. If there is a thing that does make America fall it is the diversity within its border. The Roman Empire was a strong civilization but ended by tearing itself apart from diversity. Although America has that problem it can make up with the strong military, a powerful leadership, and a strong economy to keep America strong and stable. America may as well be the strongest that there ever was or ever will be. Its military is like no other and pretty much unstoppable. It was recorded in “2010 that there was at least 3 million people that was in the American military! America could be like the Persians up against the Spartans because it’s that strong. If America is to go it’s better to burn out in glory then to go down without a glimpse of hope. The strongest and the best have to die some time, even if America fights with the best soldiers they still have a chance of losing everything. There are many similarities and differences between the United States and Rome. Both were and are major powers in society. They also had their share of great and not so great leaders. For example...

...American history includes a multitude of international immigrants from countries all over the world including China, Mexico, and Britain. Many people migrate to America due to its vast amount of opportunities and to live out the “American dream.” This term depicts Americas freedom and independence that its people demand and worked hard to attain. America is also considered the “melting pot” because these immigrants make up the country and have helped redefine and cultivate the land. My ancestors once migrated to this land of opportunities in this very same pursuit of a successful, accepting lifestyle for their children. My family and I’s history represents American history because I come from a line of immigrants that redefined what love looks...

...19th Century, I immigrated to the United States from Italy. As a young Italian at the age of 17, I left Italy and my family in expectation of improving my life and to make a future for myself. My home in Italy was starting to become difficult to live in, especially with reading and hearing all the news and opportunities that America has to offer. I had seen a poster on the corner by a steamship company that depicted the most affordable way to travel. With all the possibilities in mind, this was the way I wanted to reach my goals. The price for a ticket for a steerage or as a third class was about the amount of $25, which was about a three weeks of work. In order to move there were protocols to travel if you were going to take a trip on a steamship to America, Those protocols were: I was expected to reach the port that I want to depart from the day before the ship left the America. It was due to myself going threw a medical examination to assure that I wasn't carrying any diseases and I also got vaccinated. The trip took us almost two weeks. My area that I would sleep and spend most of my time was on the lower decks of the ship it was very close to the engines (It was hard to sleep with all that noise). With matters and a pillow. The beds in my area looked like bunk beds that were stack up too high. Usually the lower decks of the ships would have about between 300 to 400 passengers. ...An America of white sings louder the the rest. This is a rough interpretation of how Langston Hughes and african American writer took the meaning of the I Hear America Singing by Walt Whitman. Langston Hughes decided to write a rebuttal to the poem in which he name I, Too. This poem challenge Whitman's poem basically saying you forgot the Black from your poem. Langston almost puts it as a revised edition or a part that went missing for the original publishing. I, Too was a big statement piece for the African American community and publically reaching out and saying there is a problem in America and it needs to be solve. All men are equal and that what all the founding fathers agreed on yet still Blacks were looked at as lesser. There are two big points made in both Whitman's I Hear America singing, and Hughes I, Too. First is Whitman's poem I Hear America Singing, this is a power piece of the American pride. This displays the hard work all American endure and the struggle they had to go through. It was what makes the America such a great nation. In Whitman's poem it says, " The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam, The mason singing his as he makes ready for work. " (lines 5-6). This continues showing examples in which white men pride themselves...

During this war, over 1 million people in both sides died. It also affected many countries including America in very high inflation. Because of the war and our troops traveling all over influenza then affected a lot of people, 25 million around the world to be exact. This affected us because so many people died. Our next topic is the Great Depression. America’s economy fell down in shambles. The rate of unemployment rose to 25 % of all the Americans. This dates back to about the 1600s to the 19th century, from when the pilgrims first discovered the land to immigrants seeking new hope for a better future. Even though they were all different ethnicity's they all had the same hope coming to the new world, like religious freedom from the king, too better jobs and the hope for a new start for many families. Their were many types of people that came to the new land like Germans, Italians, Irish, Chinese. When talking about different ethnicity's or races they all had to go through something to when they...

As a lieutenant and a great surveyor during the French and Indian War Crèvecur moved to America and started observing the emergence of American society through cultivating farms. The main reason Europeans came to America was because the rich and the poor are not so far removed from each other as they are in Europe. Also in America there was no one there to rule them or in other hands tell them what to do. In Europe they were oppressed and kept poor by the rich, while america proved to...

...So who do you think about when I mention leader? Some think Malcolm Turnbull, Or president Obama. I think of Kim Jong UN… probably not the best person to think about but that’s my though probably not the best person though. If I were to say that we are all leaders right now I would be lying. But hear me out I think that we all can become that person we dream about that person that changes the world. How many of you follow someone. And how many people follow someone even though you have the chance to lead. I know that all we can be a leader. You just have to take that chance. So what everyone fails in their life? From a great movie Rocky there is a quote which is my favourite quote of all time its. “It doesn’t matter hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. So don’t stop once you fail become that leader that you can be because of your strength. Some say OH NO I WANTSN’T BORN TO BE A LEADER SO I CAN BE ON HELP MEEEE! Not true at all no bone is born a leader it is earned. Let’s take Kim Jong UN and President Obama. Kim Jong UN was born into power but he I not a great leader. No he is horrible. He hasn’t done anything good for North Korea and that’s not good leader ship. Yes I said anyone could be a leader he...

Teens shouldn’t have to go and serve two or more years in the military service, for many different kinds of reasons. First, I disagree, I have thought about this for a while, and I disagree with the claim about teens going to the military. I’m a teen myself, and that is not the only reason why I disagree. Teens could go to college right out of high school, and they would have to go to...

I realize the fact that much of this nation’s history has brought great grief, but I believe that we have learned from our past mistakes. These past mistakes have made this nation into the great nation that it is today. Hope is all I can think about whenever I think about America. Hope for all people, no matter what race, size, language, or nationally. Hope that we grow as a nation, and can all come together to be the great Americans that we are. ...2012 The Fire Next Time I am so happy that Dr.Wright assigned this book to read because it did (as she promised) changed my outlook on the society around me. Although it wasn’t the easiest read through all of Baldwin’s unconventional writing styles, I still managed to learn a great deal about myself and the world around me. I am sure there are many reasons for Baldwin to write an enlightening book such as this, but I believe that James Baldwin’s main purpose for writing The Fire Next Time was to make all people aware to true position and role of the black American in America. I believe his motives also included making his own racial community aware of how white America feels about them, and motivating blacks to spring into action to evoke change. James Baldwin also makes aware that blacks’ place and situation in America is by no means a mistake, and in fact crafted strategic mechanism to hold African Americans back productively as well as evolutionarily in the American world. Through Baldwin’s accounts with different races throughout his life Baldwin also gives a first hand account of the experiences blacks typically go through living in America. Reading Baldwin’s book The Fire Next Time was definitely a pleasure to read. Throughout the book as Baldwin discussed his life and time as a black man to have gone into the church as a minister, and later become a writer and activists, it was needless to say that I learned a number of things. Some of which I feel is even hard to relay...

...Khyati Joshi’s “Multiculturalism”, readers receive knowledge on the history of how America became socially diverse. America being referred to as a melting pot is received as a positive thing. We accept different people’s cultures, heritages, and traditions and become one society. While reading this I felt great, because of how far America has come with diversity and acceptance. Today, people of all races can go to school and develop an education of their choosing. Years ago this was not the case, schools were opened up for people of certain races. These people were not welcomed at the other schools available because of the color of their skin. It is sad to think of a world that treated people so poorly because they were not considered “normal”...
