...Reflection and Insights on Personal Faith Oklahoma Wesleyan University Reflection and Insights on Personal Faith Imagine a faith so strong you believe in something you have never actually visualized. A faith that is so strong that you feel overwhelmed and calm at the same time. Faith that has grown over the last five weeks to a level that makes you believe you can share your knowledge of God with other people. Sharing knowledge of the Bible and God’s message prior to the last five weeks was a definite insecurity for me prior to this class. I will try to put into words how this class has benefitted my personal faith and some things that have been difficult to completely understand. The Bible begins with the book of Genesis. According to Life Application Study Bible, the definition of Genesis is the “beginnings” or “origins” (NIV). Genesis is the beginning of the creation of the world. Genesis is the “story of God’s purpose and plan for his creation” (NIV). Genesis is where faith also begins. Believers have blind faith in God that the heavens, earth, man, animals, Satan and sin were created, but not witnessed. To support this faith in God, we have the Bible. The Bible and growing up in a Christian household with parents who are true believers and followers of God, helps support my belief and knowledge in God. In Genesis, we learn that our actions and decisions have consequences. For example, Adam and Eve whom God created in His own image (NIV) were created...

...How to Write Reflection Essay Posted by Splice, Essay Tips Chief Writer How to Write a Reflection Essay. Basically, writing a reflection essay is a good exercise to sharpen your critical thinking skills. You have to understand what it is that you have to reflect on before proceeding with the essay, otherwise you will only lose track of your ideas or, worse, you will not be able to write anything that will make sense. Keep in mind that a reflection essay is more like a journal where you jot down your thoughts or how you feel about a certain topic. Your topic may be a film, a book, an event, or just about anything. Before starting with your reflection essay, ask yourself a couple of questions, such as: how do I feel about this topic? How does it affect me, if it does at all? If it doesn't affect me, why? Notice that the questions are all personal. That is because a reflection essay asks you to express your insights. Knowing the answers to these personal questions can help you begin your reflection essay. Do not limit yourself to these three questions. Explore more that asks you to state your opinion. Leave out the facts first. Concentrate on your insights. After having the answers to the personal questions stated above, list your answers. Thereafter, summarize them into a single sentence. This will be your main controlling idea or central thesis which will guide you throughout the rest of your reflection essay. With your thesis statement, identify the arguments or ideas that will...

...Learning through reflection 2 Reflection is an active process whereby the professional can gain an understanding of how historical, social, cultural and personal experiences have contributed to professional knowledge and practice (Wilkinson, 1996). Duffy (2007) believes that reflective practice is an active deliberate process of critically examining practice where an individual is challenged and enabled to undertake the process of self-enquiry to empower the practitioner to realize desirable and effective practice within a reflexive spiral of personal transformation. Learning is derived from experience but it doesn’t just happen. For it to take place you not only need to engage in reflection you must also record it. By thinking about what you are doing and why you are doing it is what turns your experiences into meaningful learning. If you are to become a reflective practitioner you have to use that learning to increase your professional knowledge and skills to the benefit of not only yourself but also to your patients / clients. Why Reflect Reflection is really a process that begins with looking back on a situation, pondering over it, learning from it and then using the new knowledge to help you in future similar situations. Reflection, which is learning through experience, is not a new concept. As humans, we naturally reflect on our surroundings and experiences. However, the conscious, deliberate and ordered process of using reflection as a learning tool...

...Critical Reflection and Transformational Leadership Ivan F Rodriguez University of Phoenix Critical Reflection and Transformational Leadership This paper briefly examines the relevance of critical reflection practices in leadership development. Incorporating critical reflective practices in a leadership development program (LDP) helps closing loops assimilating the knowledge, updating reference frames and providing valuable feedback to the decision making and problem solving processes. It is my learned experience that using critical lenses to enable building on previous experiences and to incorporate new learning will perpetrate the transformational leadership (TL) process. The correlation between critical reflection and TL can be explained by the closed loop between outside world and inside world, it is though a reflective process how the leader encourages multiple perspectives that ultimately challenge his or her to excel in complex and uncertain environments. Leadership development practices depend on reflection-in-action. Advancing one step further, TL focuses on how leaders inspire and motivate followers to a higher moral level (Burns, 1978), its essence is inspiring follower’s commitment to achieve the vision of a desired future. TL conveys the “connection between the organization’s philosophy and shared values, and embeds those values in organizational rules and actions in order to communicate meaning and inspire followers” (Bennis and Nanus, 1985, p. 58). The...

...1. In your answer, identify the main lines of argument and differences in points of view between the commentators and the author. Justify your own point of view regarding the importance of reflection to individual and organisational performance. In his article, “I Don't Have Time to Think!, Versus the Art of Reflective Practice”, Joseph Raelin defined the importance of reflective practice, laid down organizational strategies that encourage reflection, and called for developing the skills of reflection. Two commentators, namely Phillip DiChiara and Philip McArthur, presented contra-arguments as to the standpoint of the author on reflective practices. DiChiara's main argument evolves around the creation of a “safe space” to make reflection viable, whereas McArthur reckons the key barrier to reflection-in-action is not necessarily time but skill. Besides, he disagrees with the author on how to apply certain skills of reflection at the individual or collective levels. Philip DiChiara opines that the concept of reflective practise is essentially unknown to many practitioners. His main argument is that reflective practice can never flourish if the organization or managers do not set the stage and create an environment for reflection. He argues that managers have to facilitate the correct balance between “getting down to business” and nurturing a conducive environment for refection in order to engage their peers. In his belief, this is essentially due to the differences from group...

...In: Philosophy and Psychology Personality Reflection Paper Personality Reflection Paper Debbie Cooper PSY/250 July 30, 2012 AnneySnyder Personality Reflection Paper The following will reflect this researchers understanding and reflection on personality, how it defines one, what it means, and if one’s personality changes to fit certain situations. At the end this researcher may have a better insight into herself as well as the personalities of others. This insight can help her in her future endeavors. Personality I would define personality as what makes each individual different. Each human being’s personality is as unique as they are. While most people define personality to describe another’s more apparent characteristics, psychologists use personality to try to give reason to similar personalities reacting differently in the exact same single occurrence. For example, individuals with identical backgrounds, motivations, and experiences react very differently to a single event. Some believe that we are each born with our personalities; however I believe that we are born with certain inherent traits while the rest develop because of our environment and our experiences. One’s personality allows one to be expressly unique and exceptional. It is what defines us as individuals and separates us from others. Key Personality Features Some key features that define who I am are responsible, loyal, trustworthy, honest, dedicated, open-minded, respectful, patient, and courteous...

...Reflections and Insights: Ch 1 & 2 Part 1: Reflection of Chapter 1 (Week 1) 1. Some of the key point’s chapter one focuses on are, performing an internal analysis, indentifying potential markets and considering potential issues. Performing internal analysis outlines finding your strategic objectives, how capable you are of meeting these objectives and understanding your strengths and weaknesses. Indentifying potential markets is understanding your strategic objectives and figuring out how you can improve. These objectives include, maximizing profits, increasing market share, maximizing cash flow, repositioning the business and acquiring resources. When considering potential issues it is important to understand Porter’s five forces which are the threats of new entrants or barriers to entry, intensity of rivalry among existing competitors in the market, the threat posed by substitute products, the bargaining power of buyers and the bargaining power of suppliers. My strength in relation to this chapter is that I am open minded and search for unique ways to sell products and look for new markets. My weakness in relation to this course is that I don’t have the professional knowledge to jump into a new market. In the future I will apply all the knowledge I have learned in this chapter to my everyday life especially Porter’s five forces. When I’m not a school or work I am working on my band and if I relate this knowledge to my music I can be smarter and more knowledgeable than...

...Your task is to critically analyze one of the published written plans that are archived in the VLIC Business Plans folder. You have a relatively large number of plans to choose from, so I would encourage you to find one that interests you. I want you to critically assess the written components of a graduate student business plan written by MBA students over the past several years. You should use the contents of Timmons and Spinelli to guide your assessment, and your grade will be based on how well you demonstrate your ability to apply the concepts from your textbook. I would recommend that you rely heavily upon the contents of Chapters 6 and 8 in your analysis. You will optimize your learning by reading and analyzing a business plan presentation from the annual VLIC business plan competition at the University of Texas in Austin (http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/Centers/Venture-Labs-Investment-Competition/). This competition is generally viewed as the “Super Bowl” of business plan competitions and will deliver excellent examples for your case study analysis. The report should have a body of text no less than 5 pages and no more than 10 pages, the paper should be 1.5 spaced. A 12-point font similar to Times New Roman should be used. An acceptable paper will be written in a professional business manner in the form of a briefing memo from you to me. Submit this as a Word document via the D2L Dropbox. *With aspiring entrepreneurs soliciting start-up funds from experienced investors...

...How does intra- and interpersonal perception (understanding yourself and other people) contribute to individual success both at university and later at work? An individual’s awareness and monitoring of themselves can enhance and improve one’s perception of reality, contributing to individual success; just as growing relationships with others and strong communication skills can in-turn contribute to the same individual success. This success can be achieved at an academic or organizational level, through an individual’s intrapersonal and interpersonal perception of themselves and the world around them. However, without strong intrapersonal dynamics, an individual cannot achieve an equally strong interpersonal perception with their community and the greater world. Strong intrapersonal perception begins with an individual’s self-assessment of what they know, so that they can improve their self-regulated learning skills and be successful (Bercher, 2012). Self-regulated learning is important as it allows an individual to assess and monitor themselves, proving to them their ability or inability to complete a task. This can be achieved through many tools and exercises. Bercher describes the use of a Student Self Assessment Sheet (SASS), which shows how an individual can achieve better learning through cognitive feedback, which usually occurs during the completion of a task. If feedback occurs during the accomplishment of a task, an individual can understand what went wrong and modify...

...Reflection can be described as the process of thinking whereby one tries to analyze situations and experiences and make judgments about them. It can be briefly termed as turning ones experience into a learning process. Reflection is helpful at a personal because the modern society is changing rapidly than ever and therefore creating a need to constantly make decisions and re-evaluate our choices. It provides individuals with tools that enable them make proper decisions in life. Reflective insight enables the learners to have better thinking and problem solving skills that help them apply the acquired knowledge in solving new tasks. Body The daily hustle and bustle has exerted too much pressure on our daily lives that quite often develop a distorted view of our surrounding. We tend to forget how well we are doing, our failures and the effect of our action on the people around us. By developing reflective skills we gain an accurate picture of who we are, become aware of our hidden motivations and thinking styles, how we appear to other people. We also develop a better understanding of what motivates our performance and develop our insight and judgment(Bulman,2004).It also helps us have control of our thought process ,our emotions and responses to our sorroundings.Reflection therefore furnishes us with tools that enable us to achieve what we want in life. Learning in the health field is usually a challenge as there is usually a big gap between the ‘Know how and the do how’. Students...
