When tourists they see the irie , no problem Jamaica. Happy people, big houses next to the ocean , the beautiful bleach white, soft sand. What they don’t see is behind the mirage, the not so irie Jamaica.

Whenever my family and I go to Jamaica we spend the first week in the real Jamaica. The one with people living in the gully, the one where stray dogs are everywhere. The one that I enjoy the most. Whenever I get my blackie mango and sugar cane I look like a child opening their Christmas present. I love the smell of the salt from the roast saltfish on the fire. My uncle looked at the photo and was disappointed because their frost on the camera from the a/c because it was right next to vent. But to me, It gave it a cool affect.
As we about the street back to the hotel there was about five guinep man at the stop light. Guinep is a stable food in the Caribbean. It looks like a medium size bead with a rough green shell. When you bit the shell, the orange, fruity meat is exposed. That is the part you put in your mouth, you then roll around in your mouth until the clear paper thin film dissolve in your mouth then you can chew off the fruity meat until you get to the seed then u spit that out. Though our two weeks , every day we would have about six big plastic bags full of the stems , shells and seeds of guinep. Anywhere you go in Jamaica, there will be a guniep man there . You might even see children there selling it to pay for school fee.
Guniep is like Jamaica. There the green shell, which the Jamaica that tourist see, but when you bit into you get the raw fruit which is the semi real Jamaica that the tourists go to meet real Jamaicans.
