Joshua Bell Joshua Bell was born in Bloomington, Indiana on December 9, 1967. Bell discovered the violin when he was four-years-old and started studying violin. He performed his first solo with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra at age seven. Five years later, Bell began studying at Indiana University. He became the youngest soloist to perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra and eventually made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1985 with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Over the years, Bell started to venture outside of the traditional violin repertoire and into a wide range of musical genres and projects. Schubert was born in Vienna, Austria on January 31, 1797. As a child, he demonstrated his talents on the piano, violin, and organ; he could sing as well. Thus, he was encouraged to receive music lessons and later earned a spot in the choir of the Imperial Court Chapel and the Royal Seminary. As he grew up, his voice started to change, so he left the choir and continued to study at the seminary. In 1814, he took a job as a schoolmaster for his family, while continuing to compose music. Around that time, he had already composed his first symphony and many other music pieces. Soon, Schubert left his job to fully pursue music and started writing more musical compositions. Several of his works began to be published and performed in public and private concerts. However, his life started to darken as his health, relationships, and financial needs began to crumble. Strauss was born in Vienna, Austria on October 25, 1825. His father was also a composer, but he did not want his son to follow in his footsteps. Thus, Strauss became a bank clerk. Unbeknownst to his father, he secretly started taking violin lessons until he could finally openly embrace it after his father left the family. Unlike his father, his mother was supportive of him. In 1844, Strauss held his first concert and eventually formed his own band, ending up competing with his father. He also started writing his own compositions for his orchestra and received the position of Bandmaster of the 2nd Vienna Citizens’ Regiment. In 1847, he began composing for a musical association until his father died a few years later. Thereafter, he merged his orchestra with his father’s and began a successful career. However, Strauss started to become ill, so he temporarily handed over his conducting duties to his brother. Long after recovering, Strauss remained active throughout the rest of his life until he died of pneumonia on June 3,
