2. La Conchita is a small costal community located within Ventura County next to the edge of 600- foot costal cliffs (Goldberg, 2006). La Conchita has been the site of many record landslides in the state of California (Goldberg, 2006). The most recent landslide occurred in 2005, the slide claimed ten lives, and approximately 36 homes were damaged or destroyed (Goldberg, 2006). Elderly individuals, racial and ethnic minorities, and individuals with mental illnesses are vulnerable groups when natural disasters occur. Elderly are considered vulnerable because they often have impaired physical mobility, diminished sensory awareness, chronic health conditions that require medication and equipment, limited economic and social resources (Benson & Aldrich, 2007). Research has shown that racial and ethnic minorities are less likely to be prepared for disaster and, more likely to …show more content…
These disparities make ethnic and racial groups a vulnerable population (Jennings & Arras, 2008). Individuals who suffer from mental illness are considered vulnerable because their condition may make it difficult to plan ahead, they may be difficult to reach when warnings are being announced, certain illness may cause paranoia about participating in mass events such as evacuation (Jennings & Arras, 2008).

Up until the 1970s, popular rock musicians began writing and producing in English. In the early 1970s, rock music began to be written using local languages, with bands like the Juan Dela Cruz Band being among the first popular bands to do so. Mixing tagalog, and English lyrics. ...C hapter Two: The Basics of Logical Reasoning The Logical Reasoning Section The focus of this book is on the Logical Reasoning section of the LSAT, and each Logical Reasoning section contains a total of 24 to 26 questions. Since you have thirty-five minutes to complete the section, you have an average of approximately one minute and twenty-five seconds to complete each question. Of course, the amount of time you spend on each question will vary with the difficulty of each question and the total number of questions per section. For virtually all students the time constraint is a major obstacle, and as we progress through this book we will discuss time management techniques as well as time-saving techniques that you can employ within the section. The Section Directions Each Logical Reasoning section is prefaced by the following directions: “The questions in this section are based on the reasoning contained in brief statements or passages. For some questions, more than one of the choices could conceivably answer the question. However, you are to choose the best answer; that is, the response that most accurately and completely answers the question. You should not make assumptions that are by commonsense standards implausible, superfluous, or incompatible with the passage. After you have chosen the best answer, blacken the corresponding space on your answer sheet.” On average, you have 1 minute and 25 seconds to complete each question. Because these directions precede...

Dear Student: Reproduction of copyrighted material, without prior permission of the copyright owner, particularly in an educational setting, is an issue of concern for the academic community. Unfortunately, the impropriety of much unauthorized copying is all too often overlooked by users in an educational setting. Although copying all or part of a work without obtaining permission may appear to be an easy and convenient solution to an immediate problem, such unauthorized copying can frequently violate the rights of the author or publisher of the copyrighted work, and be directly contrary to the academic mission to teach respect for ideas and the intellectual property that expresses those ideas. With that in mind, the University Bookstore has sought permission and paid royalties for all materials enclosed. The price of your reader reflects those necessary costs.
