...Week 4 Learning Team Reflection Discuss the Week Four objectives. Your discussion should include the topics you feel comfortable with, any topics you struggled with, and how the weekly topics relate to application in your field. Write a 350- to 700-word summary of the team’s discussion. 4.1 Analyze the influence of company structure on behavior. We have now found out from Robbins and Judge (2011) that company structures determine the manner in which job jobs are officially split up, arranged, and managed and that administrators must discuss about 6 essential factors while developing the structure of the company they work with. These 6 factors are: work expertise, series of command, departmentalization, and centralization, duration of control, formalization, and decentralization. Additionally, we understand that there are 3 common company designs, for example: the easy structure, the bureaucracy, and the matrix structure. I found out that there are companies where folks are happier and more effective once the jobs are standardized and when the ambiguity is decreased. There are other companies in which following official methods and plans result in a higher satisfaction on behalf of the worker. It means that company structures impact employees’ actions. According to Robbins and Judge (2011), facts and research show that work expertise results in higher worker efficiency; the disadvantage is that it leads to decreased job pleasure. Various...

...Ismael, Alyanna A. BSED2-III Assessment of Learning I “Teaching is fun and part of it is assessing your students. It is more of a responsibility, your duty as a teacher, not an obligation.” – These are the words that moved me when I was doing the interview with Mrs. Zharrie Causaren, an English Teacher at Las Pinas East National Highschool. I was amazed by how dedicated she is with what she’s doing. She told me that she never got tired of teaching because it is her passion and she wouldn’t trade it for anything in this world. She considers teaching as calling from God. After the interview I have learned that assessment is an important component of teaching. It is a vital ingredient in the student’s learning. Without it, you cannot evaluate whether your students learned or not. It is a reflection of how you teach. It will always be there. It is inescapable. At the same time, it is your basis, your motivation as a teacher to teach well and to be more passionate to what you are doing. It pumps up your mind to be more creative, it gets you out in the comfort zone of the so called “old style teaching” and makes you think of many ways to push your students to the limits. . Mrs. Causaren made me realized that there is always a room for improvement and one way of improving your students is through assessing them. It is the engine which drives the student to study hard, learn more, and achieve more for the betterment of their...

...The two biggest lessons I’ve learned this week relate to what I’ve learned from writing my learning profile paper, and what I’m going to do differently the next time I have to write a paper. I’ve learned a lot from writing the learning profile paper mainly from the self reflection it took to answer the questions posed in the paper. The question that caught me off guard the most was “what are my strengths and limitations as a learner.” Before I wrote this paper I hadn’t put much thought into my strengths or weaknesses I was generally aware of my weaknesses but I’m glad this paper forced me to dig down and really give this deep thought. The other question of “how this class has helped me” was quite a bit easier to write because this class...

...piece of the challenges we shall be encountering as this course unfolds. As for me, provided the challenges are interesting and provided they are good teachers, I am fully comfortable with it. This Learning Journal Entry (LJE) is of two parts: one is for the programming exercise and the other for my reflective first-person narrative of my learning procedures this week. Part 1. The Programming Exercise. This part serves to demonstrate the systematic approach I have taken to tackling the programming exercise attached to submitting this LJE. At first, I will briefly lay out the program requirement, and then I will express some considerations....

...Service Learning Reflection During my experiences with service leaning included: painting a bathroom, cleaning inside and outside of houses, and helping coach basketball. With each of these experiences I learned new things about what I was doing and learned new things about myself. As I went to each of these situations I was nervous as to what was expected of us. In each experience the person was good at explaining what they wanted to be achieved for the time I was there. When helping at the Crittenton Center she was ready for our group and everything planned out as to what each person would do. My group of three was to paint a small bathroom. We were all able to use out past experiences of painting to help finish the project. When helping out with Kayla Nieman, I helped her clean and organize her classroom and helped coach afterschool basketball with her. I learned the most with the coaching. I had to learn how to be patient with the players and allow them time to learn the new skill. When working with Lacey Hallstrom, I helped clean up outside. The experience went well because I had known her previously before. I think this made it comfortable for both of us. When helping out with my family, I found out that I can deal with this bad situation. I think helping out directly with looking for items in the house helped me and my family cherish what we had. Also, with this happening there has been lots of phone calls and paperwork. I have learned how to do some important paperwork...

...The three storyboard sessions have constituted a gradual learning progress for me. Thus, I find it difficult to write three separate logs of 500 words. Rather, I prefer to present my learning experiences in a long essay in which I reflect upon three aspects, namely: teamwork, video-editing tool and delivery format. Teamwork. The first thing I recognized about these storyboard sessions is that they were designed as a sequence of discussion phases which set a strong foundation for efficient teamwork. The structure worked peculiarly well with my first and third team. Both times, we began with each member summarizing the key takeaways from their individual papers. Then, we brainstormed how to connect all categorize and cluster our ideas. Next,...

...In class Tuesday, our guest speaker,??? talked to us about service learning at Western Carolina University. She told us what service learning is, how to get involved, and how it can impact our lives and those around us. Service learning relates to my personal, academic, and professional goals in many different ways. I love helping people and doing my part to help better my community, including my new community here at WCU. Volunteering is a great way to connect with your community, and it makes me feel like I’ve done something to improve the lives of those in need. Our learning plan includes service learning that fits our chosen major and our interests. With athletic training as my major and physical therapy as my career choice, it would make...

...little trauma as possible living with a disability. The Anchor Center prepares children to enter the public school system and being successful in all aspects of their life regardless of their situation. Additionally, children can receive eye exams at the Anchor Center to better determine what treatment is best for their condition. Beyond the diagnosis, the organization offers very hands-on and effective approaches such as music therapy and small group. Also, family support services can be obtained through the organization as well, which I personally recognize to be extremely important. I believe any parent who has a child with a disability suffers emotional distress that required professional support as well. This would make an ideal service learning project because the Anchor Center serves a very unique group. Many people take their good standing health for granted, and they don’t always think twice about how fortunate they are to wake up every day and visually see the world around them. I believe volunteering with blind children will undoubtedly offer a new perspective for volunteers and empathy for the children. Lastly, I wholeheartedly believe that this is a foundation which was formed on altruistic motives which is reassuring and it gives me hope in humanity especially during difficult...

...A service learning experience is the application of reflection to consider the change that needs to be made in order to help a community run more efficiently (Homan, 2016). Throughout my service learning experience, I have developed new professional skills and gained a fresh perspective on the experience and my population served. I believe that in any new work environment one can gain these tools from fellow colleagues/coaches, supervisors/advisors and the individuals served. Additionally, working on a group project that spanned the entire semester challenged my teamwork skills and gave me new insight on effective communication and consensus. As a result of my service learning experience, I grew professionally in terms of understanding group dynamics when working towards a common goal. For example, through working with Girls in the Game, I formed a passion for the program and the population we served this semester. In the beginning of the...

...Samuel Durham American Government Professor Tapia 12/03/15 Service Learning Reflection Paper For my service learning project I volunteered as an intern at the 5000 role models project of excellent program. Head director Paul Wilson and his staff welcomed me with open arms. During my time there I assisted with many activities which helped me learn some great communication skills and also greatly benefited the staff as well. During my internship I was involved in encouraging mentors of different fields such as Police Officers, Firefighters, Military Veterans and others to come out and support young men who are headed in the right direction. I found my self-surrounded in a setting that I saw openly was consisted on pure professionalism. Every day that I walked inside of that office I received nothing but respect, kindness and admiration. In fact I was even acknowledge that I was a consistent, dedicated, and diligent by head director Paul Wilson. That in which stood as true because I had already exceed my service learning hours. What I have attained from my brief time there was that having an impact on younger people is very important. This opens up my eyes as to getting involved with helping young men becoming better fathers’ better husbands and having greater voices in the community. I learned that teaching young people about the importance of growth in the community starts with unity. The biggest problem we are having when it comes down to change in the community is voting...

...to be an English teacher in a vocational college of China and the ages of my students usually range from 17 to 21. In the process of English learning, students often confront with some concrete problems. For example, all the students learnt the dialogue: “How are you?” “Fine/Good.” However, when a foreigner asks them “How are you?” in their presence, most of them don’t know how to give response. Obviously, lots of students cannot transfer their theoretical knowledge into oral application. Many students always get high scores in English test but speak English stutteringly. Nowadays, in the campus, more and more college students are bothered by the CET (College English Test). They always hold a vocabulary book in their hands and make their efforts to memorize these words. They just mechanically stuff these vocabularies into their brains but rarely think of how to associate one word with other related words or how to use one word in a specified context. I still remember that many students asked me how to cope with English vocabularies and they often complained that it was really difficult to memorize them. In fact, how to memorize English vocabularies has become an obstacle for a great many Chinese students. Besides vocabularies, English grammar also upsets a large number of Chinese students. In China, English grammar teaching and learning is always regarded...

...For my service-learning project, I worked with Alexander Porter and Victoria Mustovic to teach a class of third grade students about the immune system. We taught at the Cochranton Elementary School to a group of around twenty kids. We were in the gym to teach them so we had to use alternative ways to interact than presenting slides or drawing on a chalkboard. First, we went around to hear everyone’s name, to make them feel more appreciated and interactive. Vicki, Alexander, and I then performed a skit that was used to teach the students about the immune system in a visual and auditory way. During many points in the skit, the students were asked to repeat important points that we were making. After the skit, we asked questions about topics covered...

...The four P's are part of what is known as "The Marketing Mix". The four P's represent the rules of what makes for a successful product. The Four P’s are: Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. In terms of a retail product, these principles are fairly straight forward and are self-explanatory. But in terms of a service, where there is no traditional tangible product but rather a result of services rendered, you have to ask how you would apply these principles. A specific service that I use for a good example is Netflix. There is no tangible product, since the entire service is data streaming in the form of shows and movies. Netflix is a marketing genius. They have been able to put Blockbuster out of business, and have expanded into nearly all markets of electronic delivery available! They are available on several gaming platforms, on demand applications built in to hardware, computers, tablets, and even mobile phones. All while they maintain a non-physical presence. In the beginning, Netflix offered DVD's by mail for a cheap monthly price, as many movies as you could watch, one at a time...and the price was less than 2 movies rented ONE time...for only 24 hours at Blockbuster. Blockbuster failed to change and move on with the times, and they got greedy...Netflix capitalized on the opportunity, bridging the gap, and with low overhead. Blockbuster could not compete. Netflix had excellent product base. The products were already developed! They simply have to become...

...When applying the four p’s to a service, I would first identify what the customer’s needs are and then provide my products and services to the market that is targeted. Next I would have to promote my service which would include focusing on the quality, customer value and satisfaction of the customer. The four p’s of marketing is found in a formula called the marketing mix, which includes Products, Place, Price and Promotion. Our test states “Under the umbrella term marketing mix, the four p's of product, place, price, and promotion represent the elements of a strategy that marketers control” (White, 2012). Applying the four p’s to a service will determine how effectively you can market your service. You first need a product or service that will satisfy the needs of your target customers. You have to offer this product or service at a competitive price to other retailers who offer the same service. The service needs to be made available to the customers in a manner that is easily obtained. Finally, you need to promote your service, its price, and where it can be obtained. I use the internet on a daily basis, for several purposes. I use it for school, shopping, and socializing, just to name a few. Having an internet service that is reliable, available to my area, and at a reasonable price, are what I looked for when choosing my service. Being that I live in the country, there weren’t many options available. Unless I wanted to go with satellite, I only had one option for cable...

...I didn’t attend the AEP workshop this term, so I chose to do a report on a reading instead. One of the previous terms, I did a report on the time management reading. This time, I chose the reading about concentration. I found this reading through the AEP website. It is originally from the SFU Student Learning Commons. They provided a number of different readings on various study- related issues student faee as university students. Each reading involves some kind of self- assessment through check lists, and then provides skills needed to overcome these issues and to reflect on how to improve areas of problems. I chose this particular reading because I noticed that many times when I try to study, I end up doing something else. After taking a year off after my highschool graduation, the problem became worse but I never really got around to doing anything about it. This AEP assignment was a good opportunity for me to learn how to help myself improve my study habits. The beginning of the reading was a self-assessment exercise. It asked me to check off statements that applied to me. The first part of the assessment was a check list of statements like “I am easily distracted when I study” and “My mind goes blank on a test”. The second part of the assessment was another check-list of possible internal and external factors like “physical distractions”, “negative self-talk”, and “social distractions”. After the assessment, the reading described a few concentration strategies for each factor...
