...LEARNING REFLECTION Celestine Mosby (1).During the past few weeks, what academic or career accomplishments are you most proud of? Answer-As I look back on the past three weeks I learned a lot about myself and gained a lot of insight on new things such as time management, proper communication, and setting my goals using SMART Criteria. I feel that I have accomplished a whole lot and gained a sense of purpose. The important thing to me is being able to take what I learned in the classroom and apply it in the world. I hope the next few weeks are as good as the last. (2).What time management techniques have you found to be the most useful? Answer –I will prioritize tasks that will help me manage time so that my assignments and my work are completed and sufficient time is given to each. Scheduling I will be doing also because it is crucial for effective time management, this is the process of look at how much time is available and how it will be used to achieve my goals. Daily schedules are effective tools for time management for me because they are short-term and less overwhelming this realistic schedule helps me include extra time for unplanned or surprise events. ...The four P's are part of what is known as "The Marketing Mix". The four P's represent the rules of what makes for a successful product. The Four P’s are: Product, Place, Price, and Promotion. In terms of a retail product, these principles are fairly straight forward and are self-explanatory. But in terms of a service, where there is no traditional tangible product but rather a result of services rendered, you have to ask how you would apply these principles. A specific service that I use for a good example is Netflix. There is no tangible product, since the entire service is data streaming in the form of shows and movies. Netflix is a marketing genius. They have been able to put Blockbuster out of business, and have expanded into nearly all markets of electronic delivery available! They are available on several gaming platforms, on demand applications built in to hardware, computers, tablets, and even mobile phones. All while they maintain a non-physical presence. In the beginning, Netflix offered DVD's by mail for a cheap monthly price, as many movies as you could watch, one at a time...and the price was less than 2 movies rented ONE time...for only 24 hours at Blockbuster. Blockbuster failed to change and move on with the times, and they got greedy...Netflix capitalized on the opportunity, bridging the gap, and with low overhead. Blockbuster could not compete. Netflix had excellent product base. The products were already developed! They simply have to become...

...When applying the four p’s to a service, I would first identify what the customer’s needs are and then provide my products and services to the market that is targeted. Next I would have to promote my service which would include focusing on the quality, customer value and satisfaction of the customer. The four p’s of marketing is found in a formula called the marketing mix, which includes Products, Place, Price and Promotion. Our test states “Under the umbrella term marketing mix, the four p's of product, place, price, and promotion represent the elements of a strategy that marketers control” (White, 2012). Applying the four p’s to a service will determine how effectively you can market your service. You first need a product or service that will satisfy the needs of your target customers. You have to offer this product or service at a competitive price to other retailers who offer the same service. The service needs to be made available to the customers in a manner that is easily obtained. Finally, you need to promote your service, its price, and where it can be obtained. I use the internet on a daily basis, for several purposes. I use it for school, shopping, and socializing, just to name a few. Having an internet service that is reliable, available to my area, and at a reasonable price, are what I looked for when choosing my service. Being that I live in the country, there weren’t many options available. Unless I wanted to go with satellite, I only had one option for cable...

...Learning Team Reflection: Week 2 March 4, 2015 Jean Goodman Learning Team Reflection: Week 2 Arthur Anderson was a leading accounting firm in 2002 and the organization was destroyed that same year A number of mistakes were made by Arthur Andersen leading to the failure of the organization; these were portrayed in the case, “A Sad Tale: The Demise of Arthur Anderson”. Arthur Anderson became commonly known for the motto “Think Straight and Talk Straight” (Parrino, Kidwell, & Bates, 2012). This motto served as an ethical guideline for the organization. Mistakes Made within the Organization Arthur Andersen quickly fell victim to accounting scandals within the accounting practice. The first mistake made within the organization was due to financial conflicts between the auditing department and the consulting department. Some of the consulting clients were also auditing clients and when the consulting departments profits exceeded the auditing departments profits, this created a conflict of interest. Maintaining the separation between these departments and the funds would have alleviated this issue. Another mistake made by the organization was the unethical act of forcing auditors to sell consulting contracts to their clients. This led to the largest mistake of reporting false information; the SEC charged Arthur Andersen with obstruction of justice, as the organization was found guilty of falsifying documents relating to Enron’s financial records. Actions to Prevent...

...Ismael, Alyanna A. BSED2-III Assessment of Learning I “Teaching is fun and part of it is assessing your students. It is more of a responsibility, your duty as a teacher, not an obligation.” – These are the words that moved me when I was doing the interview with Mrs. Zharrie Causaren, an English Teacher at Las Pinas East National Highschool. I was amazed by how dedicated she is with what she’s doing. She told me that she never got tired of teaching because it is her passion and she wouldn’t trade it for anything in this world. She considers teaching as calling from God. After the interview I have learned that assessment is an important component of teaching. It is a vital ingredient in the student’s learning. Without it, you cannot evaluate whether your students learned or not. It is a reflection of how you teach. It will always be there. It is inescapable. At the same time, it is your basis, your motivation as a teacher to teach well and to be more passionate to what you are doing. It pumps up your mind to be more creative, it gets you out in the comfort zone of the so called “old style teaching” and makes you think of many ways to push your students to the limits. . Mrs. Causaren made me realized that there is always a room for improvement and one way of improving your students is through assessing them. It is the engine which drives the student to study hard, learn more, and achieve more for the betterment of their...

...The two biggest lessons I’ve learned this week relate to what I’ve learned from writing my learning profile paper, and what I’m going to do differently the next time I have to write a paper. I’ve learned a lot from writing the learning profile paper mainly from the self reflection it took to answer the questions posed in the paper. The question that caught me off guard the most was “what are my strengths and limitations as a learner.” Before I wrote this paper I hadn’t put much thought into my strengths or weaknesses I was generally aware of my weaknesses but I’m glad this paper forced me to dig down and really give this deep thought. The other question of “how this class has helped me” was quite a bit easier to write because this class...

...Learning Team Reflection for Week Two Learning Team A Kimberly Johnson, Vanessa Fleming, and Trina Bradley RES/351 October 12, 2012 Dr. Jan Bella Learning Team Reflection for Week Two After reading chapter one Research in Business, Learning team A learned that it is important to define business research. In this chapter we also learned the difference between decision support systems and business intelligence system. This chapter explained that Business Research is a systematic inquiry that provides the process of planning. After reading chapter two Ethics in Business Research, Learning Team A learned the issues that are in research ethics. This chapter also explained that the purpose of ethics research is to reassure the safety to those involved in the research process. This chapter explained that Ethic Research requires personal integrity and the need to have middle ground. After reading chapter four The Research Process, we learned the steps in this process. We also learned that research is a centered dilemma and decision. Once we found a topic we would like to write about we would start to find information on the topic and record this information on paper. Another factor that was learned in chapter four was how budgeting and value assessments influence our process for research design and proposing research. After reading chapter three Thinking Like a Researcher, we learned that the first step is finding out what you want to learn...

...Week 4 Learning Team Reflection Discuss the Week Four objectives. Your discussion should include the topics you feel comfortable with, any topics you struggled with, and how the weekly topics relate to application in your field. Write a 350- to 700-word summary of the team’s discussion. 4.1 Analyze the influence of company structure on behavior. We have now found out from Robbins and Judge (2011) that company structures determine the manner in which job jobs are officially split up, arranged, and managed and that administrators must discuss about 6 essential factors while developing the structure of the company they work with. These 6 factors are: work expertise, series of command, departmentalization, and centralization, duration of control, formalization, and decentralization. Additionally, we understand that there are 3 common company designs, for example: the easy structure, the bureaucracy, and the matrix structure. I found out that there are companies where folks are happier and more effective once the jobs are standardized and when the ambiguity is decreased. There are other companies in which following official methods and plans result in a higher satisfaction on behalf of the worker. It means that company structures impact employees’ actions. According to Robbins and Judge (2011), facts and research show that work expertise results in higher worker efficiency; the disadvantage is that it leads to decreased job pleasure. Various...

...Learning Team Reflection Alfred Clark, Jeremy Freeman, and Jonathan G. Hartsgrove Law/531 December 11, 2011 Kevin Spiering Learning Team Reflection In today’s society, we use laws and regulations to protect the rights of the people. As stated on the NOLO law website, “in a serious dispute with someone, you may consider filing a lawsuit to get it resolved. But that's a big step, and before you take it you'll need to know whether your case is worth suing over, how and where you would file the paperwork and what is involved in pursuing a case (2011)”. It is during this time of agitation that the benefits provided by counsel could help a victim to decide whether to take a settlement offer or purse litigation. Settlement Offers are usually settled prior to court in a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution. This is due to the fact that “the use of the court system to resolve business and other disputes can take years and cost thousands, or even millions, of dollars in legal fees and expenses (Cheeseman, 2010. pp.43)”. A lawyer can help to determine if an offer of settlement is fair by comparing it to other similar cases and help the client to decide if litigation would result in a larger settlement based on the legal issues of the case. Several studies have looked at the effect of lawyers on the ADR process. The studies have found that the lawyer does affect the outcome, but to varying degrees. According to Sternlight (2010. pp.391), the studies have generally suggested...

...Learning Team Reflection -Week 4 Our learning group has been overall successful in conducting productive meetings and completing tasks in a timely manner and at the desired quality level. However, there are aspects that can be improved in order to make meetings run more smoothly. The success can be attributed to several factors. One of the most important factors leading to successful meetings is setting clear goals and an agenda before the actual meeting. Being that all group members have demanding jobs and families to attend to, we have been able to avoid wasting time meeting for things that can be done via email or over the group discussion forum. Instead, we have identified the tasks that require of all the team members’ presence and set up face-to-face meetings to discuss only those things. Moreover, the group has created an atmosphere of trust in which all members feel comfortable expressing their ideas freely. Group discussion, active listening and constructive criticism are encouraged. Finally, we have been able to compromise and make group decisions that leave everyone satisfied. The learning group could improve success in conducting meetings and performing group tasks/projects by focusing on staying on topic. Instead of socializing during the meeting, team members could be rewarded with socialization time once the team goals have been met. At the same time, team members could contribute to time management by adequately preparing and gathering all...

This Learning Journal Entry (LJE) is of two parts: one is for the programming exercise and the other for my reflective first-person narrative of my learning procedures this week. Part 1. The Programming Exercise. This part serves to demonstrate the systematic approach I have taken to tackling the programming exercise attached to submitting this LJE. ...Service Learning Reflection During my experiences with service leaning included: painting a bathroom, cleaning inside and outside of houses, and helping coach basketball. With each of these experiences I learned new things about what I was doing and learned new things about myself. As I went to each of these situations I was nervous as to what was expected of us. In each experience the person was good at explaining what they wanted to be achieved for the time I was there. When helping at the Crittenton Center she was ready for our group and everything planned out as to what each person would do. My group of three was to paint a small bathroom. We were all able to use out past experiences of painting to help finish the project. When helping out with Kayla Nieman, I helped her clean and organize her classroom and helped coach afterschool basketball with her. I learned the most with the coaching. I had to learn how to be patient with the players and allow them time to learn the new skill. When working with Lacey Hallstrom, I helped clean up outside. The experience went well because I had known her previously before. I think this made it comfortable for both of us. When helping out with my family, I found out that I can deal with this bad situation. I think helping out directly with looking for items in the house helped me and my family cherish what we had. Also, with this happening there has been lots of phone calls and paperwork. I have learned how to do some important paperwork...

...Learning Team Reflection Issue The issue in this case is whether Mutual Pharmaceuticals should refrain from making the generic equivalent of Clinirol which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug sulindac or change the label on the drug to “contain a more explicit toxic epidermal necrolysis”, warning which was recommended by the FDA. Although the New Hampshire had a design-defect clause which forces progressive duties on manufacturers the federal law states that the drug company cannot modify the label or composition of the drug that a generic version of another drug. Since both of these laws contradict each other Mutual was left with only one option to discontinue the production of said product. Rule The FDA requires that all drugs be manufactured approved by the FDA before it engages in interstate commerce. When a new brand name is created that drug must be submitted as a New Drug Application (NDA). The NDA compiles all materials and must be submitted to the FDA with a full report. This can be an expensive and lengthy process, so then congress created an easier path for generic drugs to be issued to the public. In 1984 the Hatch-Waxman Act was created which allots for generic drugs to be approved for use without so many provisions. The drug is a mirror image of the name brand drug. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of Mutual Pharmaceutical reversing Bartlett’s initial argument of failure-to-warn and design-defect claims. The courts denied her failure-to-warn claim...

...The three storyboard sessions have constituted a gradual learning progress for me. Thus, I find it difficult to write three separate logs of 500 words. Rather, I prefer to present my learning experiences in a long essay in which I reflect upon three aspects, namely: teamwork, video-editing tool and delivery format. Teamwork. The first thing I recognized about these storyboard sessions is that they were designed as a sequence of discussion phases which set a strong foundation for efficient teamwork. The structure worked peculiarly well with my first and third team. Both times, we began with each member summarizing the key takeaways from their individual papers. Then, we brainstormed how to connect all categorize and cluster our ideas. Next,...
