...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=laoVH3ajdHQ&list=UUJSFn_YTKUi0Yto4uvyvHGg Lukas McFarlane. Winner of Got To Dance 2013. From his audition I was captivated by the strength of his movements and how he could still look so graceful, flexed foot and bare. I’ve loved watching his development in dance through his YouTube and how far he has progressed. I think what inspires me the most from watching him is not his sheer technical perfection, nor his complex and advanced choreography, but the revealed passion and emotion he has in every performance. I don’t consider myself the strongest dancer having never been taught properly, but, from watching Lukas and my own experiences, I’m going to show how much I enjoy dancing and how the music and dance relates to me. He is mainly a lyrical/contemporary dancer; however you can see elements from other styles, like street, in some of his work. No matter what music he is performing to, you can see it reflect in him and how he executes the movements. Lukas also experiments with different speeds of the movements, mixing it up and using vulnerably slow movements at perfect times. He possesses such an amazing musicality within his work; every unusual movement hit at the right points in the song he is performing to. I know my technique won’t reach his standard in the foreseeable future... but I can show passion in what I do and try to create a story behind the movements just as Lukas McFarlane...

...There is an unseen power behind words and the written language. The way they dance on the tongue and lace itself around the minds of others, almost as though the words tattoo themselves on the skin of every individual. As the generations grow older, the lessons given become bolder and hold a greater imprint on those impacted. Leah Guest’s rewrite of 7 years, originally done by Lukas Graham, reflects on the impact of words and the lessons that surround a person. Time is constantly fleeting with a new lesson each day, and most of the time it is quickly forgotten. There are things in everyone’s life that will not only burn brightly in one’s heart, but can be just as likely smothered out. The memories and lessons that are taken now only set up the hopes and dreams for the future...

...Salt Harbor Exercise The Salt Harbor exercise was a real world negotiation exercise that added many factors into the decision making. In this exercise, Lukas and I were partners. Lukas was the buyer and I was the seller. In this negotiation, I had recently purchase some property that I wanted to build into a coffee shop. The neighbor, who is also the buyer, did not want me to build the coffee shop and instead wanted to purchase the property. Lukas stopped me from being able to build the coffee shop through legal channels. I was given the option to take my chances in court or attempt to tell the property to Lukas and open my coffee shop at another location. ------------------------------------------------- This exercise was challenging because, like any real world situation, there was varying degrees of information asymmetry that made negotiating challenging. We were both looking to get more information out of the other person in order to be in a better position to negotiate. What made this exercise even more interesting is that it simulated a real world situation that two people would deal with every day. This made it easier to understand the underlying implication of the exercise as opposed to the first exercise. ------------------------------------------------- My Strategy: My initial strategy was to see what Lukas would offer first before I made a bid. Even though I risked being anchored, I want to gather as much information about him and the decisions he is making...

Patrick C Kiefer 408 Lukas PS1 Problem 3 The EAR is given by r 1 EAR(r , n) = (1 + )n − 1 = (1 + )12 − 1 = .010045 > .01 n 12 You can see that the effective rate is slightly more than the quoted rate. Patrick C Kiefer 408 Lukas PS1 Problem 4 Now we use T PV (C , r , T ) = i=1 C = 100 (1 + r )i 5 i=1 1 = 421.24 (3) (1.06)i Notice that for computational convenience, the shortcut annuity formula is more tractable: PV (C , r , t) = C ∗ 1 r 1− 1 (1 + r )T (4) Patrick C Kiefer 408 Lukas PS1 Problem 5 We use T NPV (I , C , r , T ) = −I + i=1 C 500 = −10, 000+ T (1 + r ) (1.04)i i=1 ∞ The perpetuity formula is ∞ i=1 C C = i (1 + r ) r (5) so the NPV is -10,000+12,500 = 2,500 for r = .04. ...In the song “Mama Said” by Lukas Graham he explains the troubles he and his family had growing up with money problems and how his mom always kept their spirits up. This song addresses the topic of taking on financial problems as a child. The main theme is that it is okay to not have a lot of money and you have to make the most of it and carry on with your life. These three quotes help reveal the topic and underlying message of the song, “Remember asking both my mom and dad, Why we never traveled to exotic lands We only ever really visit friends, Nothing to tell when the summer ends”. Lukas Graham is saying that all the other kids go on vacations and travel over the summer, but they didn’t and they had nothing to say when school started, but...

...While adapting to his new family allowed Benjamin to avoid conflict inside the family, it also changed him. As he began to change, Benjamin himself started to doubt his origins, “He was like a snake… He had creep out of Benjamin Komoetie’s skin and become Lukas” (Matthee 205). From this quote the reader can conclude that by this point of the story Benjamin was facing his inner demons and fears of not knowing who he is. And from the tone of this quote the reader can also conclude that Benjamin is clearly distraught with the idea of not knowing who he is. The reader can see this in full affect when Benjamin decides to leave his life behind, “Go home and tell pa I’m not coming back I’m finished with the forest’” (Matthee 251). This shows that Benjamin was running away from his past because he no longer knows who he is. By running away Benjamin was able to avoid the question of his real identity and is also able to create a new identity for himself as a seaman. By assimilating to the Van Rooyen’s family...

...result of a fire that destroyed the old equipment, allowed the company to increase brewing capacity and efficiency. Finally, Deutsche Brauerei’s decision to enter the Ukranian market in 1998 contributed significantly to the rapid growth. The collapse of the U.S.S.R. brought market reforms, and Deutsche Brauerei jumped on the opportunity to enter the fragmented beer industry, capture the large population and capitalize on the prime location in Europe. Lukas Schweitzer was savvy enough to hire local expert Oleg Pinchuk away from a competitor as the marketing manager, and Oleg was instrumental in building the business in Ukraine by securing accounts and implementing the field warehousing to support distributors. Deutsche’s beer was hugely popular in the Ukraine almost immediately, and volume sales more than offset the depreciation of the Ukrainian currency. Sales in Ukraine accounted for 28% of Deutsche’s total sales, and skyrocketed from 4,262 euros in 1998 to 25,847 euros in 2001. II. Statement of the Case Problem Greta, niece of Lukas and a...

...Point of View The approach to the case will be taken from the management’s point of view, at the level of the board of directors. Case Context Problem Definition What recommendations are to be made regarding the (1) approval of the 2001 financial budget, (2) declaration of the quarterly dividend and (3) adoption of a compensation scheme for Oleg Pinchuk, the company’s sales and marketing manager? Framework for Analysis First, initial assessment of the current situation of Deutsche Brauerei is to be made. The company’s current financial standing in the market, the reasons for its recent growth and its financial forecasts are analyzed. Then the three issues are to be analyzed for their implications, possible benefits and consequences for the business and. After the analysis, the group will make recommendations regarding the implementation of the three proposals. Alternatives to these proposals will also be suggested. Analysis I. Introductory Paragraph Deutsche Brauerei has been a family owned and operated corporation for 12 generations, which has created a high level of focus and control. Each generation has kept the management and operations processes relatively simple, centered on brewing practices and quality. Deutsche Brauerei’s rapid growth in recent years can be attributed to several factors. First and foremost, the company’s success is centered on the product itself, which has won numerous quality awards and is quite popular in Germany. Another contributing...

...shift is partially a driving force in this book, though it is mostly her desire for revenge on Hitler for what he did to her and her people. Yael is brave, but not in the “in your face kind of way”. There are subtle things at work in her character, especially at the end when she holds the gun in her left hand. If you’ve read it, you know exactly what I am talking about. The other characters are just as amazing, at least the main two I’m concerned with – that is. Felix Wolfe and Luka Lowe. Felix, Adele’s twin, is the most amazing brother. He is kind, compassionate toward his sister and the rest of his family, he protects her – but he also doesn’t put up with her shit. There are more than a few scuffles along the way, but it never stops him from his mission: protect Adele at all costs so she can come home. It is quite sad, really. He stays overnight in the desert to fix her bike, he rides with her even when her pace is pushing him, he supports her in all things – except Luka Lowe. Luka… what to say about Luka? Goodness, well, he’s a heart throb for one. A previous victor of the race, he is arrogant, cocky, attractive (and he knows it), infuriating, and a bunch of other words I could possibly get in trouble for saying. But, he is also kind – to a certain degree. He protects Adele, he loves her to be completely honest. There is animosity and some distrust, but for good reason – might add. Don’t worry, though, he is pretty chill about it – once he gets her back, all is said and done...
