...and contracting serve, training Soldiers have always been my passion. My expertise has always been military training. Although training Soldiers can be dangerous, it can also be very rewarding. I have witnessed the positive benefits of proper training and the dire consequences of poor training. I have continued serving the Army in the capacity as a government contractor when employed. Therefore, I am fluent with current training and doctrinal methodology. I am aware of areas in which the Army could use immediate assistant in the training of Initial Entry Soldiers (IET). Marksmanship training has always been an area in which the Army have continued to struggle. The basics of being an effective combat Soldier is to qualify with your assigned weapon (M4 carbine). All Soldiers must qualify with their weapon in order to graduate from basic training. The Army has infrequently placed a high precedence on marksmanship proficiency. The Afghanistan conflict is winding down. The Department of Defense will continue draw down the active duty forces in 2014. The goal of the reduction is to reduce the Army's manning structure to 490,000 in two years. These initiatives have effective the availability of much-needed training resources for all Soldiers. Meanwhile, Army commanders are charged with the tasks to develop plans and solutions that will enable the Army to maintain a high state of readiness. Providing services to the Army through contracting has always been a lucrative opportunity...

...Chapter 1: Cadet Safety and Civilian Marksmanship Program Lesson 2: Firearm Safety and Safe Range Operation LESSON 2: FIREARM SAFETY AND SAFE RANGE OPERATION PURPOSE This lesson introduces you to the rules for safe air rifle handling and the range procedures that you must follow in air rifle firing activities. RULES FOR SAFE GUN HANDLING There are three basic rules that are the foundation for the safe handling and shooting of all types of guns. These rules fully apply to the air rifles that are used in JROTC marksmanship programs. These fundamental safety rules focus on three key parts of every gun that control when and where the gun can be fired. Those parts are the MUZZLE, ACTION, and TRIGGER. Everyone should know these basic parts of a gun, whether or not they ever will be involved in target shooting, so that they can practice the rules for safe gun handling any time they are in a situation where a gun is present. • MUZZLE. The forward end of the barrel. The point where the pellet or projectile leaves the barrel when the gun is fired. A gun is aimed by pointing its muzzle at the target. ACTION. The working mechanism of the gun. Gun actions typically have a bolt or lever that is used to open and close the action so that the gun can be loaded and unloaded. TRIGGER. The trigger is part of the action or working mechanism of the gun. The trigger is a lever that projects out of the bottom of the gun. A trigger guard protects the trigger. After a gun is loaded and the action...

Focusing on modern times, the US military is continuing to utilize virtual simulators and war based video games to assist in the training of troops before going on the battle front. The US Military presently uses numerous types of simulators for training, the following will include the implementation of ISMIT (indoor simulated marksmanship trainer) and LRPSS (long rang precision shooting simulator) as well as flight and driving simulators. In their own time the troops who play war based video games, like Call of Duty, Medal...

...The blue Army Service Uniform (ASU) is the new service uniform, and was adopted for optional wear in 2008. It was issued to new soldiers starting in the fall of 2010, and must be worn Army wide after October 2015. The ASU is replacing two uniforms already in use the Army Green, service uniform and the Army White service uniform. It will be based on the current dress uniform known as the "dress blue" uniform. It has its roots in the "Army Blue" uniform, which dates back to the Revolutionary War, in which the Continental Army outfitted its soldiers in blue to distinguish them from the red uniform coats of the British Army. It also recalls the Civil War Union Army's blue uniforms. What is goes on an ASU? Depending on what MoS you are in makes a diffrence. For a signal soldier such as myself the main diffrence is the Regimental Corps. This is given to signal soldiers for compleating Advanced Indiviual Training (AIT). Regimental Corps Crest insignias are worn over the right breast pocket on the ASU uniform 1/8 inch about the pocket or 1/4 inch above and outher award signifying each service member’s unique branch of service. Other items such as nameplate is warn on the right breast pocket centered. This identifes the soldiers name. A Meritorious Unit Commendation (MUC). The MUC is awarded to units for exceptionally meritorious conduct in performance of outstanding services for at least six continuous months during the period of military operations against an armed enemy occurring...

...Army Reserve Training and Readiness Sergeant Major Kenneth Fenstermacher United States Army Sergeants Major Academy Class 63 Ms. Evelyn Hollis 20 November 2012 Abstract Never in our Nation’s history has the United States Army Reserve been more essential to the United States Regular Army. The United States Army Reserve has evolved into a fundamental part of the total force with modernized deployable forces and Citizen-Soldiers that exemplify the warrior mindset, culture, and ethos. Increasing demand for Army Reserve capabilities has introduced a new benchmark of dependence on the Army Reserve. The Army Reserve has become a critical part of our national security architecture and a positive investment for our nation. Transforming the Army Reserve from how the organization operated prior to 2001 to a solid contributor for unified land operations is remarkable. Senior leaders of the Army Reserve recognized the need for transformation in order to support the changing roles of a reserve force for the Active Component commanders. Supported by patriotic employers, resilient families, and caring communities, Army Reserve Soldiers are “Twice the Citizen.” Army Reserve Training and Readiness The United States Army Reserve has served our nation since 23 April 1908 as the Federal Reserve force of the United States Army. Peacetime Army Reserve leaders implemented a wartime trace for the first time in 1980. CAPSTONE professed to align every Army Reserve enabler with the active...

...US Army Uniformity Essay In 1776 the British and the Continental Army, led by; Commander in Chief George Washington, fought over who would control the 13 Colonies and the future of the United States of America. During that time The British was dominating for the main reasons being; uniformity, organization, and overall military knowledge that the Continental Army clearly lacked during the first years into the American Revolution. In 1778 a Prussian Officer, General Von Steuben reported to Valley Forge to turn demoralized and unknowing men into a ready to fight, physically fit Continental Army who would later drive the British out of control over the colonies and let us go on to make the United States of America the land it is today. Even when America fought over itself in the Civil War over slavery where the enemy wasn’t the Taliban, French, German, or British but instead the North and South fighting against one another there was uniformity, military knowledge, and above all discipline still in effect. The Uniform code 670-1, Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia is the code by which a soldier should look. For example, Tattoos, how insignias can be worn, the army’s view on jewelry and many other examples. I believe this regulation falls under, “I will always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself” in the soldier’s creed. While I was at basic training, the first day my company commander had a saying for us to understand during our time there, “Its hard but it’s...

Boarding schools or (pre-college) military schools may offer JROTC programs, with some requiring participation as a condition for acceptance to the school. Some public military schools mandate JROTC as a class for all grade levels, and have a curriculum...

...Despite it being rainy and cold, this month contained some memorable events. The Veteran’s Day program for our school consisted of many patriotic songs and ceremonies. Our choir sang “God Bless the USA.” The audience found both the choir’s and the band’s performances outstanding. What touched my heart the most was when an older veteran came up to me and thanked me for singing for and honoring the veterans. I was honored to make a difference in the life of a man who had boldy served our country. I sincerely thanked him for his service. That same week, the band performed in our community’s Veterans Day Parade. I, being the Drum Major, had the privilege of conducting the band. We played “Patriotic Spectacular.” I remembered playing this exact...

...Since the dawn of man, laws have been used as a foundation to preserve order and to maintain a safe and peaceful society. Laws are essential in order to provide structure within a society and ensure that each individual’s rights are respected equally by protecting their basic rights and freedoms. Laws also aid in regulating the power and control of every individual by denying any unjust authority of one person over another. Every individual is expected to adhere to the law regardless of their role in society. Without laws, the world would be a chaotic place as society would ultimately degenerate into despotism; the rule of the strong and violent over the weak and nonviolent. While most laws are important to sustain peace in society, some laws are quite arbitrary and are under constant debate and scrutiny. One such law is the Texas Penal Codes 30.06, 46.03, and 46.035; which enforce restrictions in which a legal concealed handgun license (CHL) bearer can carry a weapon. These laws dictate what establishments a CHL holder cannot carry a handgun and it also provides the power and authority to a private property owner to deny entry of a CHL holder if he so chooses. Though some of the designated facilities listed in these charters do bear some reasonable ideology as to why a handgun cannot be carried on certain premises, such as places of religious worship and government activity, these laws highly deprive a legal CHL holder of their right to effectively protect themselves...
