...“Life is not a spectator sport.” Throughout life we face many challenges and many barriers that will try to keep us from accomplishing what we want. There are multiple ways to address these challenges, and the solution to a problem is different for everybody. Jackie Robinson faced one of the toughest and most widespread barriers, the barrier of racism. He had to face racism whilst trying to achieve his life dream, which was to play on a Major League team. Robinson overcame his challenges through a set of nine values: citizenship, commitment, courage, determination, excellence, integrity, justice, persistence, and teamwork. These nine values have become something that anybody can live by and can use to overcome their own values. In my own life I...

SJIT saw the importance of English Proficiency and thus, offers the said program for the benefit of its students in line with the Life Purpose of Saint Joseph Institute of Technology which is “To educate and equip students with knowledge, skills, English communication proficiency, right attitude, and values in technical and professional fields”. ...to Future 1 My Life’s Story: Past to Future PSY 202 Dr. Louise Framan Past to Future 2 My Life’s Story: Past to Future As you read this paper you will get a better understanding of the kind of women I am. You will read how my family and life experiences shaped me into the person I am today. I grew up in a small town called Louisburg. Louisburg’s population is about 5,000. Also the town is north of Raleigh, North Carolina. I have a lot of family in this town. My parents live here. I’ve lived in Louisburg almost my whole life. I’m now 34 and I got a birthday coming up on Sunday the 4th of September. I now stay in Raleigh, North Carolina. Growing up in Louisburg was a blessing for me because my parents always supported me in what ever I wanted to do in life. My mom was more strict than my dad. You would think that my dad would’ve been the strict one because he is a man, and plus I’m his little girl. Just the opposite, I could get away with things with dad more easily than with my mom. Especially growing up, mother always wanted to know who I would be talking to on the phone, who I was going to be hanging out with. My mom was an old fashioned woman. She had to meet all my friends including my boyfriends, she would call all my friends parents to see if the story I had told her was accurate or not, if the story didn’t sound right I didn’t go out anywhere I had to stay home. My dad on the other hand was a different story., I was daddy’s little...

...happened during my senior year of high school,” my mom said, as she began retelling the epiphanic moment of 1989, “Every day, I walked the same route to and from school. My only concerns revolved around studying and preparing for our college entrance exam.” Hair pulled up in a high ponytail as always, backpack slung over her shoulders, a young student walked to school, breathing in the humid Shanghai morning air that greeted her every morning. I pictured my mom as this young high school student, always having her steady rhythm in life that was never disturbed. She passed the coffee shop around the corner as she did every day, watched college students scramble to class on their bikes knowing it would be her future as always, greeted her...

Appendices 21-36 Appendix A – Sample Questionnaire Appendix B – Other Researches 1 ABSTRACT In this research material, we aim to know the problems of a senior high school student especially the K+12 coming. It is because it will be their stepping stone to fully realize their dreams. Graduating high school is not as easy as you think especially when we are on the verge of the K+12 implementation. It is a hard thing to do, especially when something bothers or hinders you to do your main purpose in high school. There are many requirements to pass, hard lessons to learn and different problems to encounter. A senior high school student will never say that it is very easy to graduate secondary education because of the very many struggles he...

...middle school careers are coming to a close right before us. The next journey of our life is starting.looking back on the past three years, I feel confident that we are definitely prepared for facing whatever challenges or absences we may face during our time in high school. And, knowing that youu were going to be in 8th grade one day. 7th grade was the year of learning, and growing and . Llearning that homework is harder. ...even go to my first wedding, pretty excited. Well not really for the wedding part but for the partying afterwards. Cause back then I was all about partying and having fun, without a care in the world. Until, one uneventful night, on August 4, 2007, who would have thought that night would have changed my life forever. But before I get to the events of that night, I need to go into details of me growing up, becoming the man I am today. January 8, 1983 was the day I was born, location Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. My pops was in the army during the time, so being in the military was somewhat in my blood from the beginning. Was only there through my early years, so most of my memories are faint. Only having pictures to really go by, but at the time seem like I was a happy kid. After doing five years in the army, my mother and father moved backed to South Carolina, since both were from the state. Things were rough when we were in Carolina, basically my moms and pops had to start all over again, this time with three kids. Lived in the projects for a while, only having one car for transportation, a lime green Chevy nova. Back then, I use to hate that car, but compared to walking miles to and from the grocery store with bags, made me look past the hatred I had towards it. But like the saying goes, from the bottom, there’s only one way to go, which is up. Seem like after 5 to 6 years we were moving, from small to small town, school to school, kind of became...

...My name is Gregory Lamar Robinson Jr. and I was born in Miami, Florida at Aventura hospital on the day of July 15 in the year 1996. On this day, a healthy baby boy was brought into a world, who knows much chaos, pain and very little kindness though it lurks waiting to be shown to the world. Though born healthy, I was in and out of the hospital as a very sick baby with pneumonia and other illnesses. Illnesses that tried to break the young black boy I was then like how society today is still against the darker brother, but as I conquered my illness I will rise to the challenge now and extinguish the flames that try to burn me and my people. Later on in my very short life that’s still progressing to this day I entered elementary school. Many could say I’ve seen my fair share of elementary schools, since I was enrolled to five if my memory serves me right. The ones that were of greater influence to me are of course the ones where I had a pretty good time, like 1st and 2nd grade when I was at Palm Cove in Pembroke Pines. What made this school memorable, was while in aftercare we watched something that was positively terrifying back then, it was “Goose Bumps”, a series of books that were made into movies. Many moons ago these scary movies gave the younger, defenseless, cute Gregory nightmares, but I grew up and those fears and that school faded into the past. 3rd Grade was okay but nothing really memorable and exciting happened that year at my new school of Charles D. Wyche. Well 4th...
