...collection of lots of sops of lots of seniors. Browse. According to whacko. (Addressed to our batch) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for SOPs, don't worry too much. All of you have good writing skills. Anyway, my advice on this matter is: [1] Have a look at some SOPs *now* or early next SEM. [2] When it's time to write your own SOP, do it *fully* by yourself. Do not look at anybody else's SOP. [3] Having made version 1.0 of your SOP, *now* take a look at as many SOPs as you can of guys in your area. Borrow points from then which you think are good. [4] Your SOP does not have to be too big. We at IITB tend to write long SOPs (1.5 to 2 pages) whereas IITM guys (who get better schools!)Usually write 0.75 page (max. 1 page). Basically, their SOPs are much more direct and to-the-point than ours. [5] REMEMBER THAT A SOP *MUST* BE ORIGINAL. ...challenging problems in science and engineering or related fields by using numerical computation have reached to a new level. Computation is today considered as a very important tool needed for the advancement of scientific knowledge and engineering practice along with theory and experiment. In the modern world all sorts of calculations are done by sophisticated computer systems. Every company and research farms from small-scale to large-scale are getting more and more reliant on mathematical principles these days. Numerical simulation has enabled the study of complex systems and natural phenomena that would be too expensive or sometimes impossible, to study directly by experimentation. As a matter of fact, engineers and scientists now require solid knowledge of computer science and applied mathematics in order to get optimized output from a system. To make things easier in this matter, Scientific Computing is a discipline that conglomerates Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering in a single degree program and utilizes mathematical models in computer simulations to solve complex problems for not only in science laboratories but also in business and engineering firms. I have always been fascinated by the application of mathematics and computer science in the real world problems. That is why...

...The sweat is trickling down my brow as my little fingers continue to type away on an outdated keyboard. I found myself in a room with no air conditioning at 8 AM one summer. Scrambling to find any way out of these classes, I declared to my parents that taking typing classes in the summer was a cruel and unfair punishment for a kid that just wanted to sleep all day. To no avail, my pleas remained unheard for there I found myself entering my second typing class of the summer. However surprisingly, the second time around, the heat did not seem as unbearable and sounds of the computer almost comforting. Unknown to me, these rudimentary typing classes would become a pivotal moment in my life. Growing up, computers and technology always played an...
