...Renewable Energy Solutions for the State of Arkansas Energy, currently we have renewable and non-renewable energy sources available to us. Examples of renewable energies are solar and wind. Non-renewable energy sources are nuclear, coal, oil and natural gas. As most homes and businesses are currently using non-renewable energy sources, we need an energy solution. How can we protect our earth for future generations? We need to use energy more efficiently and only use what we need. We need a sound energy solution that is efficient and conservational, we need a renewable energy source. For the State of Arkansas, what is the most effective renewable energy source, solar or wind? The way of the future is through renewable energy sources. Two such sources are solar energy and wind energy. These sources are un-limitless in mastering its power. Solar cell panels that transfer the sun energy into power with no pollutants can use solar energy. Harnessing the wind via windmills or turbines for energy production uses wind power. Now that we know about the two different renewable energy sources, let us look at each source and what the positive and negative impacts would be and determine what would be an effective energy source for Arkansas. Some of the positives are the fact that solar power is renewable and has an un-limited supply; there is enough solar energy that falls in a 100-square-mile area of the southwest United States to power the entire nation. One of the issues...

...Energy to Change Non renewable energy sources, are exactly that, NON RENEWABLE, then why do we depend on them so much? The U.S is the number one consumer of non-renewable energy resources such as fossil fuels. The U.S consumes so many of these resources that we must import them from other countries. With the hour glass slowly empting down, many solutions have been theorized. And many of these theories are now in use. Solar power, wind energy and hydropower are some of the more popular and more widely used sources of renewable energy. The issue now isn’t coming up with a solution, it’s getting the people to accept and promote the solution. With the U.S acquiring 92% of its energy, from unsustainable sources, why isn’t there more emphasis placed on using renewable energy sources? Though it’s easy to express interest in joining the movement, how many people actually do? There isn’t much difference to be made on an individual level, to see major improvements; big corporations must be convinced to take part. The U.S government needs to increase incentives for companies promoting and using renewable energy sources. If an individual household uses only renewable energy, the effect will be insignificant, on the other hand, if a big conglomerate such as Wal-Mart would make the switch to 100% renewable energy, the impact would be felt. Not only would there own footprint be noticed, but being that it is a huge corporation; it will likely influence other companies to do the same. A...

When people use non renewable energy harmful pollutants are let loose into the air and water. The more people operate ones vehicle the energy power plants produce gasoline that burns which releases pollutants. Another problem is the cost; people are noticing that ones public service utility bill is on the rise. People need to get the information that is needed to conserve energy. People need to realize that the negative effects that non renewable energy has on the planet. Non renewable energy resources are coal, oil, and natural gas. Coal resources are too expensive to expand and have the possibility to supply an efficient amount of coal to last. Coal use has risen in the last 4 years. Coal is a difficult non renewable resource to obtain because it is accessed by mining. Oil is a combustible energy that is access by drilling and pumping. When non renewable energy has been used up it can not be replaced. The living factor is that mining damages existing vegetation and the land is sensitive to the wind destruction causing air pollution. There is also water destruction which causes pollution to the waterways and destruction to aquatic habitats. ...Pros and Cons of Renewable Energy Why should we promote renewable energy? According to the United States White House, one gigawatt of electricity created by renewable energy can power 290,000 homes for an entire year (White House, n.d.). There are numerous advantages to renewable energy. Once fossil fuels run out, the world will be forced to rely on renewable energy sources. Renewable energy can create energy without creating harmful emissions and further polluting the Earth. The solution for more energy is not a simple one. Many countries are having trouble funding renewable energy efforts (Bell, 2013). Presently there are many negative side effects from producing renewable energy, but these problems can be improved upon. Governments have also made advances in technology difficult by placing restrictions on producing renewable energy which leads to higher prices (EPA, n.d.). While these side effects may be putting a damper on current efforts, eventually renewable energy will become a must. Pros and Cons of renewable energy Using renewable energy sources allows the world to have electricity while lowering and in some cases, eliminating waste and pollution (White House, n.d.). Creating new power facilities would also create numerous jobs and could improve local economies (Bell, 2013). Using renewable power sources could allow governments, companies, families and everyone affected by the new power sources the potential to save money on electricity for extended periods...

...Assignment Paper Da Nowadays energy are very important in people’s lives. İn our homes , at our workplace we consume energy in evry activity. Todays technology devices work with energy and supply. Many countries got into war because of this reason . This situation from emparlism so lots of people suffer from other countires research for on energy source. Therefore energy source is very important in our lives. Engineers find alternative energy sources. Alternative energy sources, also know as renewable energy are energy sources produced from natural resources rather than fossil fuels or from the production on nuclear reaction. Renewable energy source can be grouped as wind, sunlight, water and geohtermal heat sources. These renewable energy sources have two significant positive effects on people’s lives. First of all renewable energy source protect our World. Firstly if people use renewable energy source we can prevent air pollution. Our goverment should introduce using renewable energy sources for people. Furthermore our goverment build wind tirbune and huge solar energy supply because these sources don’t release green house gas so renewable energy sources protect air. The second important effect is renewable energy prevents water pollution. Factories pollute water so factories should use electirical energy and solar energy. These energys are clean energy. The third and more significant situation is renewable energy sources decrease the rate of global warming...

...photovoltaic cells are a renewable source of electricity, harnessed from sunlight and thermal energy derived from the sun. It doesn’t emit any greenhouse gases (sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide) when producing electricity. During a sunny and clear day, sun rays can provide over a 1000 watts of energy per square meter of the planet’s surface. Photovoltaic cells are made of semi conductive material such as silicon. As the light ray hits the solar cell, a fraction of the light is absorbed within the semi conductive material. The energy from the light knocks electrons loose causing them to collide, becoming delocalised. Solar cells can be used as a partial or entire source for energy, it allows the consumer to reduce energy costs and save money, the only issue being that due to installation costs, the payback time for solar power could be several years. Photovoltaic cells use a single junction to create an electric field within the semi conductive silicone. Within a single junction Photovoltaic cell, only the photons which an equal amount of energy or greater than the band gap (energy range in solid material where no exist) of the material can delocalise an electron to for an electric circuit. To convert more energy from the photons, more solar cells are used to create plural band gaps and junctions. Devices with multiple junctions (tandem cells) have a higher conversion efficiency, wasting less energy in the process, due to a converting more energy derived from the photon. ...

...greenhouse effect is much to be blamed for global warming as carbon dioxide accumulated at the atmosphere will prevent most of the outgoing infrared radiation at the atmosphere from escaping into outer space. The main source of carbon dioxide emission is the burning of fossil fuels to generate energy in order to meet our daily requirements. Although the dependable energy supply by fossil fuel is essential in our every day life, because of its adverse effect is why the government should implement policies to encourage the use of renewable energy resources to conserve the environment. Fossil fuels like coal, petroleum, uranium, natural gases are non-renewable energy sources, which mean these resources cannot be re-made or regenerated. In contrast to that, renewable energy resources like hydroelectric energy, solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal energy do not deplete, or it will take a substantially long time to deplete them as it can be replenished by nature. Statistics has shown that there is an increase in the investment of renewable energy over the pass few years, in 2007 more than $100 billion was invested in renewable energy (Renewables 2007 Global Status Report 2007, p. 16). Even China which has overtaken the United States as the world’s leading producer of greenhouse gases (cited in Joseph Kahn and Jim Yardley 2007 p.1). is switching to renewable energy resources(Renewables 2007 Global Status Report 2007, p. 8). The main reason for the switch to renewable...

...Examining My Communities Source Of Energy Aaron L. Hunt Argosy University July 11, 2014 Electricity, natural gas and solar energy are the three primary types of energy used in my community. Electricity is the only type of energy I use in my home. Dealing with any energy source, you are bound to have some type of negative impact on the environment. For example, the use of fossil fuels to create electricity omits dust, soot and other materials that are released into the atmosphere. In addition, the same solid materials along with chemicals that naturally occur in the atmosphere, assists in creating acid rain and negatively affecting my community. Pensacola, Florida deals with a low level amount of nuclear waste. Radioactive waste resulting from a nuclear medicine treatment, medical equipment that uses radioactive isotopes and cancer therapies are the extent of nuclear waste disposal in my community. , however, like many communities we dispose of toxic and hazardous wastes such as electronics, industrial waste and asbestos. Electricity and gas has been the two main energy sources for many years in my community. The demand for electricity is constantly growing with the expansion of my community so companies are attempting to generate electrical energies from The Straits of Florida. The installation of EPUs or Electrical Production Units can potentially damage sensitive coastal marine environments and are hazards to migrating mammals and fish. (Finkl, Charlier & Makowski...

...Impacts of Implementing Renewable Energy Sources in Solving Global Oil Crisis Student’s Name College Impacts of Implementing Renewable Energy Sources in Solving Global Oil Crisis Alternative energy is a non fossil renewable type of energy. Due to rapid increased use of coal and oil in the late 1800s various concerns over the sustainability of fossil fuel as a future source of energy; this has led to the proposal of renewable energy sources (Simon, 2007). With the discovery of renewable corn-based ethanol oil energy in 1917 by Alexander Graham, various forms of renewable sources of have successfully been made. Currently there are various sources of renewable energy including among others: Hydropower, biomass, geothermal energy, solar and wind energy. These energy forms of energy have demonstrated to be significant environmentally (Simon, 2007). Other than the ability to renewed, renewable energy could solve the problem if global oil crisis and reduce environmental challenges caused by fossil fuels (Sherman, and Freemuth, 2009). In addition, implementing the use of renewable energy would promote certain economic benefits such as job creation and revenue income. However, unless the overall benefits of implementing alternative energy sources are outweighs its impacts on oil producing countries, it would prove to be difficult implement renewable sources of energy to resolve the problem of energy crisis resulting from over dependence on oil as a source of energy. ...Scientists SARID1402 Group 3.1 13th of August 13, 2014 The issues of using renewable resources By Ridhwan Sabur The issues of using renewable resources By Ridhwan Sabur The following report discusses the issues that could occur through the use of renewable energy sources. The impact of energy sources on global warming and climate change is escalating, this creates the debate whether to use renewable energy or not. However, these alternatives come at a cost. In a world that is rapidly industrialising and technologically developing, energy resources will only be more in demand. By the year 2010, 93% of global energy was generated through non-renewable energy sources such as, oil, gas, coal and nuclear power (Bose, 2010). The world’s population uses up an extensive amount of energy each year, causing several environmental, social and economic complications to the world. These sources seem favourable, they still involve several challenges. Renewable resources can change the economy of a country and it does change the pollution around the world. This reports observes the causes of the need of renewable energy, the effects that they have and the recommendations to overcome these issues, Fossil fuels are commonly known to produce gases that cause air pollution and accelerate the global warming effect. Considering these factors, countless nations around the world understand the importance of sustainable energy sources. 1. Fossil fuels are finite. All fossil fuels at some point...

...Theo Lanier Meghan Woods Comp I: Thesis Statement 11/11/2014 Intuitive Energy Consumption In modern day society, I have observed the emerging negative impacts on the natural environment and human society from global climate change, and rising prices of traditional sources of energy. These two physical occurrences have led me to view renewable energy development as an ever increasing, promising approach to mitigating climate change, diversifying energy supplies, and even stimulating economic development. CNN news recently reported that in the United States, renewable energy development is a very active policy arena, in which an array of policy instruments are designed and implemented (CNN, 2011). CNN goes on to describe that over the past decade the states have experienced a rapid growth of renewable energy sources with an accelerating rate over the last few years. It is my ultimate and fervent belief that instead of maintaining oil and coal as the predominant energy sources in the United States, more emphasis should be placed on organic and less harmful renewable energy sources. More importantly, how and to what extent do political factors in each state influence renewable energy development practices. The influence of political institutions, interest groups, and government ideologies in the renewable energy deployment process is very substantial in my opinion. Industries driven by oil & coal consumption such as the automotive and other combustion engine manufacturers...

...impact and will continue to revolutionize the world. Solar energy is a natural renewable resource that is available in unlimited quantities and is a great source used for solar heating, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal energy, solar powered cars and calculators. Solar power is energy received directly from the sun, later converted into other forms of energy. It is perhaps the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy resource available. The simplest answer to the question, why I selected “solar energy” for my essay is that, it is the cheapest resource and the more important fact is that it will never terminate. It is currently being used to power solar cars, heaters and other important things but since it is a new invention, it will take some more time to influence the world. Inventors opened the mysteries of transforming the sun's beams into mechanical power more than a century ago. In 1767 a Swiss scientist named Horace-Benedict de Saussure created the first solar collector, it was an insulated cubical box, layered with glass to absorb heat energy. The box later became known as the solar oven producing heat at 230 degrees Fahrenheit. In 1839, another milestone in the solar journey was achieved as a French scientist, Edmond Becquerel defined the photo voltaic effect. He placed two electrodes in an electrolyte and passes sunlight through it, as a result electricity was produced. In easy terms, photovoltaic effect is the creation of potential or electric current in a substance...
