...Is This Your Contract BUS 311: Business Law I Instructor: What is something that we all go thru at one point in our lives, something that makes our word our bond. We agree to something and we decide to put it on paper for how long no matter what comes up we stick to it. Now contract can be so testy we don’t know if we are breaching it or right on task. There are contract almost everywhere that we go, when we get a car, buy a house, even when you sign up for a credit card you are putting yourself in a contact. Now every time that you think about something that you want to get into a contract with, it's always smart to think research and make sure that what you are doing is great for you. For example people everyday get into a new car contract because they really need it. Now I have done this in the past but before we got into the contract I made sure that we were able to afford it. Now something that my wife does is takes all the information that we gathered from the car lot and made sure that it would fit in our budget. Now after a long talk we were able to come to the decision that we would take the car. But we wanted to make sure that this is something that really wanted to, I know that if we were not going to be able to afford it then we would be in more trouble for not having that ability to pay for it. Now we are really going to get into this car contract a little deeper and by that I mean we are going to see what is good and what is bad about all decision that...

...Jason, I have such awesome news for you, I’m so glad you’re here. Betsy said that you are going out of town and I was wondering you know, is he going to be here or not because I have such awesome news. J: Yeah great. G: I have Bestel who is interested in investing 4 million dollars in this company, immediately. All we have to do is sign a few papers and we are done. Now the chairman of the board, do you remember Jack Schneider? Do you remember when he came in? J: I do. G: Ok. So I have known him since I was a kid, he’s almost like an uncle to me. Now he said, basically this is a done deal. Now his shareholders, they don’t get together until 2 weeks after the fourth quarter. But that’s not really a problem because I have talked to him, and worked everything out and done everything that he wanted me to do. J: does he have to get the shareholders to approve the deal? G: Well yeah of course. J: Well how is he going to do that if the quarter ends, he can’t legitimately sign the deal before he gets shareholder approval? G: Ok, well technically I know what you’re saying, but I’m telling you I know this guy. He’s like, like at thanksgiving and when I was growing up we would have picnics together, and he’s given me the OK. He says he’s got these shareholders on his side, and then he’ll have this meeting that’s kind of a technical problem but other than that, he said he will do it so it’s really not a problem. J: So if he does that though, are we authorized to go ahead and make this deal...

...big term used to describe a lot of heart conditions but the most common type in the United States is known as coronary artery disease. This is where the flow of blood through the heart is slowed down due to plaque buildup in the arteries within the heart which blocks the blood flow and can lead to a heart attack. In the United States about one in every three adults or seventy million people has high blood pressure. Only about half of these have this under control by either diet and exercise or medication. Blood Pressure is a very common condition but if not under control it increases the patients risk for heart disease and stroke significantly. High blood pressure is known as the silent killer as it has no warning signs or symptoms so often patients do not even know that they have it and this is very dangerous (CDC, 2015). In the United States and most other societies, there is a strong tendency for Blood Pressure to rise progressively with increasing age; however, epidemiologic studies indicate that age-related increases in BP and the occurrence of hypertension are uncommon in societies whose members live in isolated settings. These findings indicate that high BP is not an inevitable consequence of aging and that prevention of hypertension is a realistic goal (Epidemiology and the Prevention of Hypertension. (n.d.). Epidemiological Rational I live in the Crater District in Southside Virginia and the stats show, Virginia Department of Heath for the Crater District 2010, that...

...TENERIFE AND MT EVEREST PAPER First and foremost, I would like to discuss Mount Everest regarding the individual level decision-making. The Mount Everest disaster happened due to poor decision, poor judgment, and no reinforcement of the rules regarding how everyone must descend from the Summit by 2:00pm. In addition, the two lead individuals of the expedition, Rob Hall and Scott Fischer were very confident in their ability to bring their clients to the summit. During this adventure, early on, there were obvious issues and signs, such as health issues amongst clients, warning signs of possible bad weather conditions during hike to summit, which they ignored. Moreover, these signs and interruptions lead everyone to believe that there was a possibility, that they would not make a safe return during their descend from the summit. My main concern about this venture was how they both were responsible for everyone getting on top of the summit and failed at taking heed to the warning signs at based camp. Although Hall and Fischer hired all types of individuals they still needed to find out to make sure that everyone that was on this venture was capable to go up to the summit and in good health. In the end both Hall and Fisher lost their lives helping others and still left their clients to survive on their own. Clients that were upon this expedition had concerns but his only concern that he would possibly have to save somebody else during his hike to the summit. They both...

... we have learned three very important concepts for having successful communication. These concepts include the single, double, and triple contingencies. The single contingency is the sending and receiving of effective messages. It is their goal to send effective messages to achieve their desired outcome. The double contingency is when people interact and do things together, through cooperation and effective messages. Lastly, the third contingency is when people interact and do things together in a pluralistic social world, which is just a world of compelling interests, social groups, thoughts, beliefs and moralities. (Lecture, week one) The three contingencies are all related because the overall success of communication depends on them. The social issue I will be discussing in this paper is school shootings. The reason why I chose this...

... One in five people have mental health issues, but five in five people have mental health. William Shakespeare’s character Lady Macbeth from the play Macbeth and the narrator of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart.” both are examples of mental health issues. Lady Macbeth’s mental illness was brought on by the guilt she felt after committing a murder, but for the narrator of “The Tell-Tale Heart.” the mental illness was present before the murder. This showing that it was not a result of guilt. Before the murder of Duncan in the play Macbeth, Lady Macbeth seemed happy and showed little to no signs of mental health issues. After the death of the king and guards, you can see the change in Lady Macbeth. She starts to sleep walk, she mumbles about feeling guilt and she no longer wants to be in the dark. In the play when murders happen it is always a dark stormy night, this is to set the mood of it being dark and scary. (Enter Lady Macbeth with a taper) DOCTOR. How came she by that light? GENTLEWOMEN. Why, it stood by her. She has light by her con- / tinually, tis’ her command. (5.1.133). Lady Macbeth doesn’t want to be in the dark anymore so she carries a candle with her everywhere she goes, even sleep walking. Another sign that the guilt of the murder sent Lady Macbeth into a mentally ill state would be her continuously trying to wash the blood of her hands. “Out damned spot! Out, I say!” (5.1.135). She says this while sleep walking,...

...must be penalized for missing classes. Do you know that every day to go to school is a happiness? But many students still miss classes for no reason. Why do students do like that? Maybe there is no penalty, so they quit the classes maybe for their playing or seeing others do. To amend this status, somebody has a suggestion that student must be penalized for missing classes. For me, I absolutely agree with this, because of following reasons. First, this is one of the ways to encourage student attendance and get good grades. Regular attendance and participation in class is critical to a student’s success. Missing classes a lot make them lack of a bunch of information about their subjects. Penalization makes students scared about missing class, so they come to class everyday and keep up work. Knowledge is varied. Even if you are smart, you know a lot of knowledge in many areas, but actually are you sure you know deeply? Teachers who have a wealth of knowledge about specific fields can teach students a lot of useful information and can explain in easy way to understand. They have to lecture in limited time, so they will tell students important points of the lecture may give some tips for exams. If students attended the class, they would be more likely to get good grades easily than others students who didn’t attend to class. Second, penalization makes class more formal and reduces the possibility for students to do bad acting. A class has teacher, students, also...

...Pseudoscience Astrology is an uber popular form of divination, but why is it held with such high regard? Every newspaper has its own horoscope section, and there are even books dedicated to predicting every day of the year for each member of the zodiac. The Internet is filled with memes depicting the zodiac, but do people really believe that the position of the moon and stars during your birth affected their personality? Astrology is the most popular pseudoscience, that is to say that it is complete nonsense. The first argument against astrology is that it is not completely honest about its biggest factor, the zodiac. Even though astrology is difficult to stomach, almost everyone knows their star sign among the twelve. However, there are actually thirteen members of the zodiac. Ophiuchus was forgotten long ago by astrologers, and is now being debated again. This sign was thrown out thousands of years ago because astrologers of the time did not want to add Ophiuchus because the sun is only in this constellation for nineteen days. Nowadays, astrologers refuse to add him to the zodiac because acknowledging Ophiuchus would mess up the...

...them. One sign of respect is to give your charts and graphs proper names (eg Chart 1: Historical price for OCBC) and to refer to them in your report by their names. I'm a good friend of charts and graphs, and any group that does not pay them respect will pay for it. Another problem with charts and graphs is their formatting and selection. There are coarsely made charts, and there are meticulously constructed ones where the formatting is consistent across the report. Again, this is a question of effort and professionalism, which will be duly rewarded if done properly. Finally, charts and graphs are there to help you, but not do the job that you are suppose to do. For every chart or graph that you put in, I expect you to tell me a little about it. For example, if you include a pie chart that illustrates the proportion of profit for each of its division, and says ‘the chart illustrates the proportion of income from various division’, that is call hand waving. Instead, you should go on and discuss what each of these divisions are and who contributed the most, and why do you think they are the largest contributor, and who do you think, following your analysis, will grow the most in the future. Build on your charts to tell a story or make a point, or several point; don’t waste it by simply hand waving. The other important thing is your font and space formatting. If you have inconsistent fonts, that is a sign of plagiarism. If your font sizes are different, that is another sign. If you...

...For my Book Talk, I read the novel All Quiet on the Western Front, by Erich Maria Remarque, and the character I'll be using for the Horoscope Profile is Paul Bäumer, the main character in the story. After I have finished the novel, I've noticed that Paul Bäumer for sure fits the description of a Taurus, the sign of the bull. The first reason why I chose the Taurus zodiac sign because a Taurus is always deliberate in actions and making decisions. As what horoscopedates.com put it in their website “This sign is often very deliberate in their actions, relaxed, and enjoys all of the sensual pleasures that abound in this dimension. Food, drink, and luxury, are all sought after by the typical taruean because this sign loves luxury and they are willing to work hard to obtain it moreover they are slow to anger, but once disturbed they can be volatile.” This description best suits Paul because at one point through the novel he and his friends were hiding in a dugout due to heavy fire and mortar strike, few hours later his friends decided to leave the dugout but Paul told them that he had a feeling that if they go out they will get killed, however one of his...
