...Personality and Career Choice Personality profiles are used by organizations as a method of evaluating an employee’s personal attributes, skills, and values. The results of the personality profiles are also used by management to evaluate an employee’s work performance. It is important to know how to analyze a personality test, and to know how to interpret the results. The purpose of this paper is to offer insight regarding the relationship between personalities and organizational behaviors, to provide some insight regarding the correlation between personality types and leadership styles, and to identify behavioral approaches within leadership roles. Personality and Career Choice Personality can be defined as a mixture of distinctive traits of an individual, and manner in which that individual interacts with and responds to others. According to the text, “Personality is an important individual characteristic to understand. It helps us identify predictable interplays between people’s individual differences and their tendencies to behave in certain ways.” (Schermerhorn, J. R., 2012, p. 29). Personality traits are characteristics that define a person’s behavior or attitudes towards something or someone. Personality profiles assist managers in evaluating whether or not an applicant has the desired personal attributes, skills, and values that the company is seeking for a leadership position. According to researcher Yukl, G., (2012), “To be highly useful for...

...SWOT Personal SWOT Analysis Christine A. Hawkins Western Governors University Reflection on Seven Habits Profile The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is based on principles that provide insight in to one’s own personal and professional challenges. The 7 Habits profile is a self-assessment tool to gauge ones dependence to independence and provide opportunity for movement towards interdependence. I was intrigued when I saw the result of my personal Seven Habits profile to see the following strengths, which are listed as Covey’s first tier towards independence among highly effective people. * Proactive – I often see the end in mind when situations arise and take initiative to identify methods for resolution or implement initiatives to the situation. If one approach does not work, a different approach will be utilized. My personal belief is that I set my own path and am responsible for the success or non-success of that path. When challenges or problem arise both personally and professionally, I have found that being reactive does not resolve the challenge. When these situations arise, I proactively identify what I can do better. * Begin with the end in mind – I am very strong at beginning with the end in mind in almost all situations. I will visually identify the path from beginning to end and recognize consequences or obstacles that may arise along the way. Having this strength has enabled me to prepare and be proactive when handling challenging circumstances...

...Personnel Profile Plan HSM/220 Personnel Profile Plan For this assignment I will be discussing the four steps that an organization should take to change its personnel profile. These steps include; performance appraisal, staff training and development, career development, and termination. The first step I will be talking about is performance appraisal. This is usually an annual event for every employee, and sometime contains quarterly and Simi-annual progress reports. It’s useful to mangers and administrations because they are able to determine employee skills and productivity profiles. This helps supervisor and employees to get the highest performers in the main positions. For example, a supervisor would be able to look at; an employee’s work performed strengths, weakness, and level of performance though scoring systems, charting, and comparisons. The second step is staff training and development. This contains the options of in-service training provided by the agency, or out-services training workshops and institutes, which is earned through professional organizations and other groups. The third step is career development. This is set out to assist employees in achieving higher level responsibilities through on the job training and monitoring. This is done by a supervisor and employee coming together, and planning the employee’s short and long term career goals. Fourth, is termination, and is to be used in extreme circumstances. If not done correctly, it can become...

But it is not simply choosing, there are some factors associated why people choose one above other. A student might choose Engineering because he is good at Mathematics or Accountancy because it is an in-demand course. This proves that choosing a career path is an important decision that will make in determining future plans because this decision will impact throughout ones lives. Usually, this occurs in the midst of fourth year in high school of the students. For them to be able to go onto higher level, they are sought to choose a career path among many options. ...Chapter 1 1 INTRODUCTION Background of the Study Shifting of course is a way of college students to change their chosen program to another that may have been caused by many incompatibility to compete in that specific program. Choosing a course is difficult. A lot of factors are to be considered. Choosing to pursue it or not is more difficult. Even the brightest student fails in class sometimes. On the other hand, it is unhealthy to force a student into something that he is not happy with. It will only result todisappointments and regrets in the future. The first year is adeciding period for most students as to whether they will pursue their respective degrees or shift to another. It is the year when students begin to question the significance of their subjects to their courses. If the course does not meet the demands of students it may cause failure or boredom that makes them shift.True dedication to studies cannot be easily disrupted by unpromising class performance. Although the choice of what course to pursue is often based on practical reasons, there are students who are driven by a “true calling.” These are students who are truly passionate with what they are taking up now. They cannot be easily disheartened by unsatisfactory quiz and exam results.Grades can serve as a basis when choosing between shifting and staying. However, passion is the ultimate determinant in finalizing one’s decision. ...

Using Social Media as a Job Search Platform In recent years, social media has become more prevalent in the lives of everyone. It has even entered the workplace as a tool used to research candidates for hire. Explained by Joyce in an online article, “Social media is becoming increasingly important as a critical method by which to market their skills and network online.” This fairly new way of online communication plays a large part in the hiring process, and it is important to be aware of how you portray yourself to a possible future employer.
