Corporations want to extend payment terms for their supply chain, but suppliers are finding it difficult or impossible to accommodate this requirement. Demica’s latest research report into Supply Chain Finance (SCF) compares the situation in the UK and Germany and reveals that 88% of UK firms and 55% of German companies have identified that key suppliers are unable to sustain further lengthening of payment periods. As a solution to this situation SCF is generating much enthusiasm amongst banks and their corporate customers as a means of substituting for lower credit availability. Supply Chain Finance structures not only allow large corporations to extend their credit terms with suppliers, but their suppliers can also use the credit quality of their receivables debtors to finance their receivables at favourable rates based on the individual debtor credit profile. Some 43% of German companies and 61% of British firms are planning to monetise their receivables/payables to provide liquidity within their supply chain. From border security restructuring to a complete overhaul of the system, anyone in this country has an idea to handle the ordeal. In preparing for this paper, this author spoke to family and friends for their opinions. One relative suggested the United States ratify Mexico as the 51st State, leaving the seated president in power as governor, turning each state into a county with the respective governors retitled as mayors. The working theory holds that the United States could then intervene and lend aid to the more impoverished areas of the newly formed state. Resulting from this, illegal Mexican immigration becomes a nonissue, Mexican citizens see improved living conditions within a few short years, and the United States gains a large tax-paying citizenship. Admittedly, without benefit of research or a visit to the country, this family member’s theory consists of stereotype and over-generalization. Even so, it illustrates the point. On the other side there are those who argue it is an issue of will, and one of choice. I believe the current research is inconclusive on both sides. Likewise, nursing education programs are faced with increased pressure to produce graduates who are capable of providing safe patient care. Toward that end, nursing education programs develop curricula, hire qualified faculty, and select learning experiences for students in an effort to train and graduate competent, effective nurses. The instructional strategies utilized in both didactic and clinical components of nursing education courses are highly influential in determining critical thinking and clinical decisionmaking ability as well as in developing the psychomotor skill performance of new graduates. Of course, it is unrealistic to think that graduates of nursing education programs have received all the training they need when they depart the doors of academia. Surveys and focus groups revealed that over 60% of adult consumers had experimented with a moist cleaning method (e.g., using baby wipes, wetting a washcloth, sprinkling water on dry toilet paper) and one out of four used a moist cleaning method daily.
