...From: Wage & Salary Division Re: Request for pay increase/promotion Susan Anthony sounds like she would be a good candidate for promotion. However, while Mrs. Anthony has the time in grade to be promoted, we require some more paperwork showing that she is proficient in the areas you have stated. Once we have received this paperwork we will be more than happy to endorse her for this promotion (Nkomo, Fottler, & McAfee, 2011). Additional Action: Follow up with Mary Wallace to make sure that the proper paperwork is delivered in order to promote Mrs. Anthony to Senior Assistant. Item 2 To: Kelly Actor From: Wage & Salary Division Re: Request for pay increase Mrs. Actor, while we value the years of loyal service you have provided the Mack Organization, we are unable to match the salary increase that you are seeking. The only increase that the company could consider giving you is a cost of living increase. If you send us your reviews, showing that you have received high review scores, we could then consider giving you a 3-5% cost of living increase based on the performance review ratings. Also sending us a letter of endorsement from your supervisor would be helpful in getting you this cost of living increase as well. Once again your continuous loyalty to this company is greatly valued, and appreciated, and we hope that you will consider this counter offer as long as all the paperwork is filled and meets the standard (Nkomo et al., 2011). Additional Action: Follow...

...Does it ask all the necessary questions to determine what the client’s presenting problem is? The counseling intake forms typically ask questions regarding the client's sleep behavior, how often the client feels sad, the reasons the client is seeking counseling and any stresses the client is facing, as Study.com explains. Counselors can refer to the counseling intake form during the initial appointment with the client to direct the session to the client's needs, rather than asking a general question about why the client has come for counseling. The counselor can then ask questions to gain clarification on the client's needs. The mental health assessment gives the counselors a complete picture of a client emotional state. It also looks at how well the client can think, reason, and cognitive functioning. Given these points, I think the mental health intake form is asking not all but the necessary questions to determine what the client’s problem is. For instance, asking...

...The Interviewing Process Bob Stevens IT460-01 The Interviewing Process The first step in an interviewing process is to determine the people to interview. It is important to interview people from the formal organization chart, as well as any informal structures (Rosenblatt & Shelly, 2011). Jesse wants me to include people from this informal structure. Jesse has made it clear that she wants me to interview some former students, as well as some prospective students. I will want as good of a sample as possible, so I will be interviewing at least 10 former students and at least 10 prospective students. However, in addition to interviewing the people who will be taking part in the class I think it’s important to interview anyone who will be implementing these IT classes. Here’s who I had in mind: Meg Harris and Roy Brown – Corporate Trainers. Obviously, our trainers are going to have some input on how best to proceed and how best to teach different subject matters. They also need to let us know which courses they are qualified to teach and which ones they aren’t qualified to teach. If they’re not qualified, we need to make sure they can get qualified. Natalie Ward and Sam Esposito – Systems Analysts. It would be difficult to imagine moving forward on this project without getting some input from our systems analysts. They should be able to help with logistics and some of the details needed for this training center. Lyle Newhart and Dawn Hill – Network Engineers. I figured...

...among many others (Fleming, 2011). VARK indicates that it is about one preference, “your preference for taking in, and putting out information when learning is the objective” (Fleming, 2011). VARK stands for visual, auditory, reading and writing and kinesthetic learners. The VARK model focuses on defining the type of learning style that works for each individual. If a student can find what their most effective learning style is, they will be able to study more effectively and efficiently. My learning style was identified as multimodal, and did not indicate a single preference, but rather two distinct preferences. Multimodal learning means applying multiple learning methods for diverse learning styles. It is noted that the majority of people, 60% of any population, utilize multimodal study strategies. Although I am listed as multimodal, I have two strong preferences, Aural and Read-Write. The Aural model shows a strong preference towards hearing. To take in information one should attend classes and discussions, use tape recorders, and discuss topics with others. It is recommended that aural learners summarize notes and put them on tapes to listen to. There is also a recommendation of reading summarized notes aloud. To perform well with tests and exams, imagine talking with the examiner and speaking answers aloud. The Read-Write method encourages lists, headings, handouts, textbooks, notes and manuals to take in the information. The learner can then re-read...

...Housing First Program Social Welfare Policy Social Policy Analysis questions 1. The formal name of the social policy and what is its official purpose The proposed policy is Housing First, which is a policy solution aimed at offering the homeless with fast solutions to their problem and offering the services they need. The policy provides permanent, affordable housing to families and individuals suffering from homelessness (National Alliance to End Homelessness, 2014). This policy approach differs from other related strategies in its primary and immediate emphasis on providing accessible and sustainable housing solution. 2. A historical context, explaining the introduction of the social policy. Conventionally, most of the providers of housing to the homeless made it a necessity to show evidence of “housing readiness.” Some of the requirements were to enter treatment or to achieve sobriety before offering permanent housing. To address this problem, the Housing First program needs to provide permanent supportive housing. Being different and separate program from "rapid re-housing", it is a relatively new invention in social policy and human service programs. Being an innovation, this program has not undergone major changes. However, it spanned off from past programs to provide housing to the homeless. It developed as a substitute to emergency shelter/transitional housing progressions system. Major changes in policy have led to the actual implementation of this Housing...

...Arguments As we have learned so far in this paper applied ethics is oriented towards practical life questions or situations that one might be having. (e.g. is abortion morally wrong, helping the poor, biomedical ethics) For example, lets say that you are driving a truck and your breaks go out. You notice workers working on both side of the road. You have to decide whether you will kill 5 workers on the right side of the rode or go left and kill one worker. That is when applied ethics comes in, and one looks at their moral principles that they have set for themselves to make their decision. Will re-visit the question at the end of the section once we have gain a better understanding of applied ethics. For the purpose of this paper and to better...

According to Cooper & Schindler (2012) whether the researcher is involved in basic or applied research, a thorough understanding of the management question is fundamental to success in the research enterprise. For the purpose of this paper, I have chosen two articles that are different, but crucial in the type of business in which I am involved. Bullying by Ziken (2008) it is the first peer-reviewed article that I have found in the University Library, and the second article is “Qualitative research for international business” by Doz, (2011). Business Purpose The first article describes the bullying history of Allan J., a child in “Duquesne Elementary School in Duquesne, Pennsylvania” (Zirkel, 2008). Since the problem lasted several years when he was in grade six “Allen’s mother withdrew him from school halfway through the school year, enrolling him in a cyber charter school. She also filed a civil rights suit against the school officials and the district in federal court, alleging that they had violated her son’s “liberty” of bodily integrity under the 14th Amendment due process...

...Recidivism is defined by USlegal.com is a tendency to lapse into a previous pattern of behavior, especially a pattern of criminal habits. This research it will focus on the pattern of criminal behavior/habits. The topic of recidivism will be focused on the re-arrest, reconviction, or re-incarceration of former inmates. Recidivism is recognized as a serious variable outcome in corrections and a very complicated measurement problem. Recidivism occurs because of a new conviction or a violation of post-prison supervision on probation or parole. Statistical research studies have shown that recidivism occurs normally within a three year period from a prisoners release date and his/her return to prison or jail. Juveniles have the highest recidivism rate and it has been suggested from research to be caused due lower education and alcohol and or drug use. A current trend with court systems throughout the country is to use drug and alcohol treatment programs to reduce recidivism rates of offenders who commit drug and or alcohol related crimes. Higher education is strongly emphasized as well as programs to help prisoners to deal with and cope with the issues of being released back into regular society (Infoplease.com, 2007). The questions is does this work? The realistic and proven answer is that it does for some and for others it does not. Recidivism is an important issue with those concerned with public safety and the cost effectiveness of putting convicted offenders in prison, educating...

...Creating a Returning Student Concierge position would be beneficial for Chattahoochee Technical College Angela C. Reisen SNHU HEA 520 Abstract Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC) would benefit from having a Returning Student Concierge in several different ways. A Returning Student Concierge “is the single-point of contact at a college or university who helps returning adult students navigate the application, enrollment, and registration processes and overcome barriers to college success” (Education, 2010). Through my research, the amount of material I found on this subject was limited, but what I did find has shown me this position is well needed at CTC. Being that I work with current students on a daily basis I feel this is what our college needs to keep our retention rate up for the returning population of our student body. After reading my point of view, I hope you will be persuaded to believe in the importance of this position as well.
