Introduction
A sample is a set of data drawn from the population, it is considered as a subset. Populations are defined as the set of all items or individuals of interest. Samples are less time consuming than a census, less costly to administer than a census and it is possible to obtain statistical results of a sufficiently high precision based on samples. There are two types of sampling techniques, probability and non-probability sampling.
Probability Sampling A probability sampling method is any method of sampling that utilizes some form of random selection. In order to have a random selection method, you must set up some process or procedure that assures that the different units in your population have equal probabilities of being chosen. Humans have long practiced various forms of random selection, such as picking a name out of a hat, or choosing the short straw. These days, we tend to use computers as the mechanism for generating random numbers as the basis for random selection. To produce our results, we combine the responses from the sample in a way which takes account of the selection probabilities. Our aim is that, if the sampling were to be repeated many times, the expected value of the results from the repeated samples would be the same as the result we would get if we surveyed the whole population. Because we know the probability of getting each sample we select, we can also calculate a sampling error for the results. The sampling error tells us the amount of variation in the results due to the sampling alone. It gives a measure of the quality of the sample design, and of the survey results. A simple random sample is a sample in which each member of the population is equally likely to be included. One way to conduct a simple random sample is to assign a number to each element in the population, write these numbers on individual slips of

...the scientific method were done to ensure the reliability and validity of the study. Introduction: Begin the chapter with a brief introduction. Include a restatement of the purpose of the study and conclude the introductory section with a brief overview of the chapter. No need to get clever. Just write, "Chapter 3 includes a review of the research method and design appropriateness, a discussion of the population and sample. In addition, Chapter 3..." The introduction should be no more than 3 paragraphs, and, per APA, should NOT include the title "Introduction". The research design is based on the problem under investigation, the theoretical framework of the study, and the purpose of the study. Provide sufficient detail to suggest recommendations to answer the research questions. The purpose of this section is to assure the reader that the type of research design is justified and appropriate for the desired outcomes. This section should also clearly delineate and explicate the type of design used (e.g., correlational, historical, phenomenological, etc.). Any deviation from the steps necessary to fulfill the research design should be explained and fully justified; otherwise, the reader may conclude that the procedure is flawed. Provide a complete description and definition of the independent variables (IV) and dependent variables (DV). The dependent variable is the response or the criterion variable, which is caused or influenced by the independent treatment conditions...

Warehouse Handling

...European Journal of Operational Research, 2009, Vol 193, pp425-436 Authors: Baker P. & Canessa, M. Warehouse design: a structured approach Abstract: In spite of the importance of warehousing to the customer service and cost levels of many businesses, there is currently not a comprehensive systematic method for designing warehouses. In this paper, the current literature on the overall methodology of warehouse design is explored, together with the literature on tools and techniques used for specific areas of analysis. The general results from the literature have then been validated and refined with reference to warehouse design companies. The output is a general framework of steps, with specific tools and techniques that can be used for each step. This is intended to be of value to practitioners and to assist further research into the development of a more comprehensive methodology for warehouse design. Keywords: Facilities planning and design; Decision support models; Logistics; Warehouse design. 1 Warehouse design: a structured approach 1. Introduction Warehouses are a key aspect of modern supply chains and play a vital role in the success, or failure, of businesses today (Frazelle, 2002a). Although many companies have examined the possibilities of synchronised direct supply to customers, there are still many circumstances where this is not appropriate. This may be because the supplier lead times cannot be reduced cost effectively to the short lead times...

Problem Statement Fashion Report

...concern of this report will be analysis of a designer’s portfolio and appliance of other fashion design related techniques and methods learned through the four semesters at VIA Design, Herning. Background This report is focusing on the idea of developing a collection for a world famous fashion designer-Bora Aksu. He is representing Turkey as an origin country and he is currently based in London, England. Purpose The purpose of this project is to present an overview of my skills and knowledge and apply them in the creative and technical part of the design and production process during the creation of a collection for the above mentioned designer. Problem statement Having in mind the strong appearance of Bora Aksu’s inspiration and theme in his collections, I have come up with the main question for this project: What would be the best next strong theme for the upcoming Autumn/Winter 2016 collection for Bora Aksu? Taking into consideration all of the information and analysis needed to answer the main question and end up with a solution of the problem stated above, the following sub-questions will be answered in the upcoming report as well: 1 .What is Bora Aksu’s background regarding the designer and the label he created? 2. What is Bora Aksu’s design DNA? 3. What are the themes and inspirations used by Bora Aksu in the development of his collections? 4. What techniques could be used to develop the final Autumn/Winter 2016 collection? 5. What would be the final collection’s...

...Research Methodology: An example in a Real Project Noel Pérez Laboratory of Optics and Experimental Mechanics, Instituto de Engenharia Mecânica e Gestão Industrial. nperez@inegi.up.pt Abstract. The research methodology defines what the activity of research is, how to proceed, how to measure progress, and what constitutes success. It provides us an advancement of wealth of human knowledge, tools of the trade to carry out research, tools to look at things in life objectively; develops a critical and scientific attitude, disciplined thinking to observe objectively (scientific deduction and inductive thinking); skills of research particularly in the ‘age of information’. Also it defines the way in which the data are collected in a research project. In this paper it presents two components of the research methodology from a real project; the theorical design and framework respectively. ...organisation uses marketing research to contribute to the development of its marketing plane. A definition of marketing research: "Marketing research is the systematic and objective search for, and analysis of, information relevant to the identification and solution of any problem in the field of marketing." The key words in this definition are; systematic, objective and analysis. Marketing research seeks to set about its task in a systematic and objective fashion. This means that a detailed and carefully designed research plan is developed in which each stage of the research is specified. Such a research plan is only considered adequate if it specifies: the research problem in concise and precise terms, the information necessary to address the problem, the methods to be employed in gathering the information and the analytical techniques to be used to interpret it. The market research brief: Marketing research can be concerned with any of a variety of aspects of the market: the product, sales, buyer behaviour, promotion, distribution, pricing, packaging, etc. Since the researcher cannot investigate everything about a market, he/she must be selective. The question remains as to how the researcher decides where to focus the study, and to what depth each issue should be investigated. The answer should lie in a document called the research brief. The research design is a set of guidelines given to the researcher by the person(s) who have commissioned the research and/or the individual(s)...

...its new meaning which focuses on the satisfaction of customers' needs and wants. Sales cannot be performed before creating a product. Marketing starts long before a product is created by a company. It encompasses activities carried out by managers in order to assess the wants, define their scope, and find out whether profits are possible or not. Marketing activities continue over the entire lifetime of a product, trying to attract new clients and keep the existing ones by improving the product's quality and appeal, using the insights into sales results and the management of repeated orders. But what is Neuro-Marketing? To understand this, we shall look at the following research, which in a way formed the framework for Neuro-Marketing concepts and Techniques. Montague carried out an interesting research based on the fact that the Pepsi and Coca-Cola drinks have an almost identical chemical composition. They examined the influence of perception on the preferences of...
