...Executive Summary: When speaking about what I have learned from designing the Flower Power Project Campaign, I break it down into three parts. The language, the skills, and the preparation are the three ways that I broke down what I have learned from the experience in this campaign. First off the language, it is key to be on the same page with your group, client, and or audience when you are setting up a campaign. Obviously communication plays a huge roll in what we are trying to do with our campaign and if any of the people you are working with done understand the language, slang, speak, or what ever you want to call it, then you may not be getting the full potential which may lead to loss of money, community, etc. Secondly, I learned about the skills to be able to plan and fulfill the duties of such a campaign. Being able to gain people to not only support you financially but also have groups and volunteers to help you with in-kind types of help such as man-hours, venues or supplies. Being able to have the people, communication, and planning skills to get people where they need to be when they need to be there, while getting the right people for jobs, so on and so forth. Finally, the preparation for the campaign is what I learned the most about and had the most practice with. Starting with flow charts, web design planning, lay outs for audiences, planning events, schedules, and so much more. All of this goes into a successful way to build a community and funds for an organization...

...Elizabeth Seton’s slogan is Stronger through Sisterhood. After my visit to Elizabeth Seton I see that the sisterhood is very strong. Attending Elizabeth Seton will provide me with more leadership, energy, and will contribute to my unique personality. The slogan Stronger through Sisterhood made me think that the culture in this school is diverse and friendly. Everyone there must be connected if the culture is friendly and there is much diversity. I have always been referred to as a leader. When collaborating in groups at school, my leadership skills surface. I strive to complete all my work when at school, which is one quality I can contribute to Elizabeth Seton. When I am not in a leadership role, I contribute my best with my energetic attitude and a fun personality. I can be funny at various times like when I say random things to my friends. My personality can be described as outgoing and friendly because when I meet new people I try my best to befriend them. I am very compassionate towards everyone I meet for example, I keep my friends’ confidences a secret. I always try to keep my friends happy about who they are and not who people want them to be. If given the opportunity to attend your school, I would love to show these qualities to you. As a member of your community I would love to bring my personality, energetic attitude and leadership. I can’t wait until I see your school again and hopefully be a student there in the near future. Thank you for your...

...St. Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton is the patron saint of in-law problems, against the death of children, widows, death of parents, and opposition of church authority (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton). I chose St. Elizabeth because she set an extraordinary example for all women. St. Elizabeth was inspiring because of how she kept moving on and persevered in her faith even though there were many deaths and setbacks. I also admire her because I hope to someday have the life skills she is known for. Elizabeth was born August 28th, 1774 and grew up in the upper class society of New York (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton), her mother died when Elizabeth was only three (Biography of Elizabeth Ann Seton). Elizabeth lived a simple and quiet life; she was a prolific reader who read everything from novels to bibles. Elizabeth married the young and wealthy William Seton by the age of nineteen. Once William's father passed away the young couple soon became responsible for the family business and seven of William’s half brothers and sisters (St. Elizabeth Ann Seton). After the family business had failed the Setons sailed...

...American Political Science Review Vol. 106, No. 2 May 2012 doi:10.1017/S0003055412000093 The Missionary Roots of Liberal Democracy ROBERT D. WOODBERRY National University of Singapore T his article demonstrates historically and statistically that conversionary Protestants (CPs) heavily influenced the rise and spread of stable democracy around the world. It argues that CPs were a crucial catalyst initiating the development and spread of religious liberty, mass education, mass printing, newspapers, voluntary organizations, and colonial reforms, thereby creating the conditions that made stable democracy more likely. Statistically, the historic prevalence of Protestant missionaries explains about half the variation in democracy in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania and removes the impact of most variables that dominate current statistical research about democracy. The association between Protestant missions and democracy is consistent in different continents and subsamples, and it is robust to more than 50 controls and to instrumental variable analyses. ocial scientists tend to ignore religion in the processes of post-Enlightenment modernization. In individual cases and events, the role of religious actors is clear—especially in the primary documents. Yet in broad histories and comparative analyses, religious groups are pushed to the periphery, only to pop out like a jack-in-the-box from time to time to surprise and scare people and then shrink...

...Order Code RL33199 Data Security Breaches: Context and Incident Summaries Updated May 7, 2007 Rita Tehan Information Research Specialist Knowledge Services Group Data Security Breaches: Context and Incident Summaries Summary Personal data security breaches are being reported with increasing regularity. Within the past few years, numerous examples of data such as Social Security, bank account, credit card, and driver’s license numbers, as well as medical and student records have been compromised. A major reason for the increased awareness of these security breaches is a California law that requires notice of security breaches to the affected individuals. This law, implemented in July 2003, was the first of its kind in the nation. State data security breach notification laws require companies and other entities that have lost data to notify affected consumers. As of January 2007, 35 states have enacted legislation requiring companies or state agencies to disclose security breaches involving personal information. Congress is considering legislation to address personal data security breaches, following a series of high-profile data security breaches at major financial services firms, data brokers (including ChoicePoint and LexisNexis), and universities. In the past three years, multiple measures have been introduced, but to date, none have been enacted. This report will be updated regularly.
