For those who are not familiar with the Sand Creek Massacre located in the southeastern Colorado territory, it can simply be described as an attack by Colorado’s U.S volunteer cavalry on the village of Cheyenne. From April to November of 1864, Colorado’s U.S volunteer cavalry, a force of around 700 men, started to attack and destroy many of the Cheyenne camps. The largest camp destroyed in the attack contained around 70 lodges which is equal to about 10% of the whole Cheyenne nation. You may be wondering why did the Sand Creek Massacre happen? To answer this question we interviewed the colonel of the volunteer cavalry, Sir John Chivington. During the interview Chivington frequently said, “I was determined to have my own glorious battle. ...The interactions between white Americans and Native Americans were costly and devastating. White Americans viewed Native Americans as objects rather than people and treated Native Americans without any respect, similar to that of African Americans during this time. White Americans stripped Native Americans of their dignity and traditions by creating laws such as the Dawes Act of 1887 and killing hundreds of Native Americans in massacres such as Sand Creek and Wounded Knee. These interactions and acts all caused the Native Americans to submit to white authority which continues to this day. The Massacre of Sand Creek took place on November 29, 1864 and was the tipping point to cause many Native Americans to submit to white authority. The Sand Creek massacre took place on the Great Plains of Colorado between the Cheyenne and Arapahoe Native Americans and Colonel John Chivington’s troops. Leading up to the massacre was disputes over land, various treaties, and the treatment of Native Americans. The day before the massacre Black Kettle along with other chiefs to meet with the governor of Colorado John Evens. Black Kettle...

Leadville, Co

...Leadville, Colorado My first choice of historic places to visit for this assignment was Sand Creek Massacre, but after doing a bit of looking and researching, it is a bit more than a hop and skip from me, so that will be one of my summer road trips. Instead, I am choosing Leadville, Co. I found this town an interesting and rich part of Colorado history. After all, this is where Horace Tabor ended up starting his rise of wealth with the Little Pittsburg and the Matchless Mine. I enjoyed reading about him and his adventures so I decided this was where I would go to see the town and history myself. From doing some research I have learned that Leadville is one of the most historic towns in Colorado with a colorful history. Leadville has a rich history that started when gold was discovered in the California Gulch, during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. Leadville boomed so fast that it fell behind in basic services. For this reason, many residents were lost to Cholera, a waterborne disease. Colorado can thank Leadville for some of the national notoriety that brought others out West in the hopes of striking it rich. Not only the mining history but just the famous and fascinating people who have put their mark on Leadville, such as Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp. In 1880, Leadville ranked as the second largest city, only behind Denver. Leadville has had its many ups and downs of booms and busts. As quick as the boom came in, it went out when the little Pittsburg ran out of rich ore in...

...HUMAN DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2004 Cultural Liberty in Today’s Diverse World Accommodating people’s growing demands for their inclusion in society, for respect of their ethnicity, religion, and language, takes more than democracy and equitable growth. Also needed are multicultural policies that recognize differences, champion diversity and promote cultural freedoms, so that all people can choose to speak their language, practice their religion, and participate in shaping their culture— so that all people can choose to be who they are. 65 108 166 55 34 82 3 14 91 51 40 138 29 62 6 99 161 134 114 66 128 72 33 56 175 173 130 141 4 105 169 167 43 94 73 136 144 168 45 163 48 52 30 32 Albania Algeria Angola Antigua and Barbuda Argentina Armenia Australia Austria Azerbaijan Bahamas Bahrain Bangladesh Barbados Belarus Belgium Belize Benin Bhutan Bolivia Bosnia and Herzegovina Botswana Brazil Brunei Darussalam Bulgaria Burkina Faso Burundi Cambodia Cameroon Canada Cape Verde Central African Republic Chad Chile China Colombia Comoros Congo Congo, Dem. ...Please Don’t Eat the Daisies, admits that she often finds herself in the kitchen reading soup-can labels—or anything—in order to prolong the moments before taking pen in hand. John C. Calhoun, vice president under Andrew Jackson, insisted he had to plow his fields before he could write, and Joseph Conrad, author of Lord Jim and other novels, is said to have cried on occasion from the sheer dread of sitting down to compose his stories. To spare you as much hand-wringing as possible, this chapter presents some practical suggestions on how to begin writing your short essay. Although all writers must find the methods that work best for them, you may find some of the following ideas helpful. But no matter how you actually begin putting words on paper, it is absolutely essential to maintain two basic ideas concerning your writing task. Before you write a single sentence, you should always remind yourself that 1. You have some valuable ideas to tell your reader, and 2. More than anything, you want to communicate those ideas to your reader. These reminders may seem obvious to you, but without a solid commitment to your own opinions as well as to your reader, your prose will be lifeless and boring. If you don’t care about your subject, you can’t very well expect anyone else to. Have confidence that your ideas are worthwhile and that your reader genuinely...

Bloodlines of the Illuminati

...Bloodlines of Illuminati by: Fritz Springmeier, 1995 Introduction: I am pleased & honored to present this book to those in the world who love the truth. This is a book for lovers of the Truth. This is a book for those who are already familiar with my past writings. An Illuminati Grand Master once said that the world is a stage and we are all actors. Of course this was not an original thought, but it certainly is a way of describing the Illuminati view of how the world works. The people of the world are an audience to which the Illuminati entertain with propaganda. Just one of the thousands of recent examples of this type of acting done for the public was President Bill Clinton’s 1995 State of the Union address. The speech was designed to push all of the warm fuzzy buttons of his listening audience that he could. All the green lights for acceptance were systematically pushed by the President’s speech with the help of a controlled congressional audience. The truth on the other hand doesn’t always tickle the ear and warm the ego of its listeners. The light of truth in this book will be too bright for some people who will want to return to the safe comfort of their darkness. I am not a conspiracy theorist. I deal with real facts, not theory. Some of the people I write about, I have met. Some of the people I expose are alive and very dangerous. The darkness has never liked the light. Yet, many of the secrets of the Illuminati are locked up tightly simply because secrecy is a way...
