1. What is your opinion about the proposed processes within the airline industry? What are the strengths? What are the weaknesses?
In my opinion, I believe that using a self-tagging baggage system would be a great solution to bring benefits to customers as well as employees. Indeed, it would save a lot of time for the customers by allowing them not to wait for a long time on the line to check-in their baggage. But also, for the company, it would result in a reduction in the cost of workforce workforce by reducing the number of employee that is necessary to perform, the check-in process of the customers baggage.
Strengths:
1. Save time for customers to check in.
2. Help to reduce the cost of workforce by reducing the number of employee.
Weakness:
1. It might causes additional issues in the baggage delivery system if labels are not correctly attached to the baggage by the customer.
2. It is not very convenient for some people who need special service.
2. How does technology promise to improve productivity in manufacturing firms? The technology promise "your first interaction could be with a flight attendant.”
What does it replace?
For years, travelers have been checking in online or at airport kiosks, and more recently, airlines have converted paper boarding passes into electronic ones. Now with this technology, carriers are turning to technology that enables travelers to check their own bags and scan those boarding passes. It replaces the airport stuff to check in customer’s luggage.
What does it supplement?
It will quicken the airport experience for seasoned travelers -- shaving a minute or two from the checked-baggage process alone.
How is technology used within service systems?
Technology used within service systems can reduce the time and workforce.
3. Why do companies often seem eager to purchase technology instead of hiring workers?
