...Jozelle Fleming RHT 101 026 Monday October 1, 2012 What was I doing on September 11, 2001? It was like any other morning. I woke up at around 8:00 am to use the bathroom as I normally do at around the same time every day, because being 8 ½ months pregnant can really put a strain on a person’s bladder. So as I was saying I went to the bathroom and lay back down and turned on the T.V. It really wasn’t much on so I started flipping through the channels and I stopped on the news channel. Now it was like around 8:50 am and what I saw on the screen just looked like any regular accident. It was lots of smoke and fire. I never thought this was a evil plan put together by some very evil people. (I would like to say what I really believe, but that would be another story) So as I continued watching the live footage, you see people running and people trying to help and others just watching wondering what the hell was going on. At about 9 o’clock you see another plane fly low and BOOM!! It hit the second tower. Now as I’m watching this I’m screaming and yelling at the T.V. screen like “WATCH OUT”!, Like they could hear me or something. Then it hit me at that exact moment all I could think was “O My God”, we are under attack. I could remember at that moment my stomach started hurting and I started feeling very scared. And all I could ask myself is “Do I really want to have my baby in this crazy world”? So of course now this terrible event that was taking place was now broadcasting...

...the textual layout; the 50 gates. This circulates the idealisms of ‘Jewish Mysticism’ and creates a link to images of gates being unlocked. This unveils a truly compelling and unexpected insight. This is that, the past can hinder a blessing or curse as contrasted in the prologue: “The darkness or the light” symbolic for the juxtaposing outcomes. Such turbulent emotions are relevant in the memoir as history triggers memory but can encourage perhaps painful recollections. For example, Genia: “ruins, ruins” contemplating the atrocities of the Holocaust and “what I could have been if I had your life”. These unexpected and compelling insights of positive and negative portrayals of history and memory in terms of emotions are clear on the September 11 site. Memory giving history emotional context is represented in terms of hope from Lisa Lefler- a World Trade Center survivor “I have found one thing to help me get through day by day. I have been telling my story to anyone who wants to hear it.” Thus being optimistic in the most tragic times of humanity unlike Genia who wishes to hide. Conclusively supporting how Baker’s masterful work should definitely be part of your exhibition. When ‘Re-viewing the past’ it is critical to be observant of differing versions of the truth. Baker began his historical investigation being an authoritative figure following traditional methods of researching archival evidence. He is obsessed with his ‘fecks’ (parents) and begins his quest ignorant to...

...The Wounded Warrior Project is a charity and Veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, services, and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following September 11, 2001. This non-profit organization was founded in 2003 by John Melia. It all got started when Melia started putting together backpacks with food, games, books, and other items to give to the wounded veterans in former Bethesda Naval Hospital. For all of the hard work that Wounded Warrior Project does, I want to try and help them gain more money so they can help more veterans. This Organization helps the wounded veterans by giving them a place to stay and food and water. There are many veterans out in the world today who need help and who are struggling to survive. The Wounded Warrior Project is very beneficial to society and have helped many wounded soldiers and...

...Anxiety at 35000 Feet Robert Clinton On September 11, 2001 something happened in the United States that changes things forever in the aviation world. There were airplanes that were deliberately crashed into mulitiple sights in the U.S. This was one of the worst terrorist attacks that the world has ever seen. Because there were aircraft used in the attack there was a huge impact on how everyone saw how to take to the skies. The vision of airliners crashing into buildings will forever be imprinted into people’s heads. None of the physiologist in the world could even prepare on how this was going to affect people and how they saw themselves flying. The psychologist have actually been involved in the aviation industry a lot even before this event. They have tried to understand what causes the anxiety in the air. What triggers the passenger to act the way they do in the air. Also trying to find out what is the best way to handle the passenger that is having the attack. Because of the attack on the U.S. a lot of the anxiety is the fear of crashing, even though the facts are that it is actually safer to fly then drive a car to the location. Anxiety in the air has a huge impact on the aviation community and has caused many flights to lad before their destination. This is one of the biggest studies for psychologist to this day. ... Hello, my partner and I have started a blog to review websites. Our names are Ella Wood and Kyra Martin. For our first blog entry, we have reviewed the website: Wounded Warrior Project. The link to this website is https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/. The main topic of this website is to serve veterans that have been injured during their time of service. People who want more information about helping veterans should visit this site. After taking a long hard look at this site we found there mission. The Wounded Warrior Project strives to support veterans that come home after the wars or attacks to the USA that have any type of injury or illness. According to the author/website master, “With the mission to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, WWP is the hand extended to encourage warriors as they adjust to their new normal and achieve new triumphs”(Wounded Warrior Project, Who we Serve?). Next, we’d like to describe the website’s design. Wounded Warrior Project is really organized the websites has headings so you can find information easily. For instance, there are three headings which include, missions, programs, and give back. When you click on them they drop articles related to the topic, veterans. The site isn’t missing information as you can tell they have helped veterans a lot. Especially since they’re sharing how they help us maybe it can persuade us to help out the people who honor our country. This site is reliable because on Friday they had an event for the...

...Effects of September 11 on Consumer Behavior The world has never been the same since September 11 2001. Even though some people claim consumer behavior was not affected by this tragic event. They say almost no measurable changes have affected consumerism, and that otherwise businesses run under their usual gains and losses. I believe that business has indeed seen effects from the September 11 event. Several types of businesses have benefited from the increase of fear this incident created in people. Businesses such as insurance companies, weapons retailers, as well as real estate agencies have been somehow impacted positively. I believe that the insurance companies have seen an increase in their sales, because they have sold probably a higher amount of insurance during these times. As mentioned also, people started to buy more weapons than what they did before for greater sense of security for their families. A lot of movement has also happened for real estate, since a lot of people have decided to leave larger urban areas towards more rural locations. Other types of businesses have not been so lucky, either taking heavy losses or having to close down permanently. One example is our local downtown business, which used to be booming with business but now it has declined Border crossing security has been greatly augmented. As a result people from across stop coming across as often so a lot of business have closed, I believe these got to show that business did become affected...

...At one time, the lip balm market in America consisted of 3 main players. Those companies ruled the lip balm market for decades. A new startup came along and changed that fact. How did they accomplish this feat? Well, it all started with EOS or the Evolution Of Smooth studying the current lip balm market. They realized that all the lip balms were basically the same. Few of the companies varied from their original products. In addition, they discovered some interesting marketing information concerning the average lip balm consumer. Here is more on the Y EOS domination of the lip balm market. Answering Consumer Demands Clearly, EOS was answering a demand. They discovered that the average lip balm user was a woman. EOS decided to focus on women...

... The wounded warriors project is an awesome organization that has made a huge impact on helping wounded warriors live a full healthy life all around america. Wounded warriors organization was found by Steven Nardizzi and John Melia in Jacksonville, FL 2003. They started WWP because they wanted to make other people aware of the vertarines and how they wanted to restore the wounded warriors to their former self and help them so they can walk and use the parts they lost with artificial body parts. The wounded warriors project help people who were in the Army, Navy and those types of programs but they help the ones who have been injured in a war and are pretty much crippled. For example Deron Santiny was tossed by a improvised explosive device and it gave him several injuries such as a concussion, whiplash, ringing in his ears, and he had a spine injury and so the wounded warriors project helped him get back on his feet and he is now inspired by vietnam veterans that have paved the way for soldiers like himself. Another person that the WWP have helped is Josh Sommers, Josh was nearly killed by an grenade in Afghanistan and Josh ended up being in an coma for a long period of time. Once Josh woke up he had to learn to brush his teeth, learn to put a shirt on again, and learn to feed himself. But he remains partially deaf and paralyzed on the left side of his body. He says that he does not regret joining the army in fact he is happy that he has served his country. Josh was happy...

...the functions and dysfunctions of immigration? Explain. I actually have a two-part answer for the contemporary immigration. If this was before September 11, 2001 then I believe that it would be because of the number of immigrants. The reason why I say this is because they may feel that the more immigrants that are let into the country, then the more will try to follow and maybe overflowed the US. Another reason could possibly be that they may not be comfortable surrounded by so many diverse immigrants and may actually get nervous. Or maybe they seem no stories on TV about different immigrants and may have some type of prejudice against them because of their culture or lifestyle. If this is after September 11 them I definitely believe it is because of their nationality. Since after September 11, 2001 people have been more on edge about diverse nationalities entering the US especially those from the Middle East. Before September 11, 2001 people were so awkward about a person wearing a turban, board the plane that they are on, after September 11, 2001 people are more observant of the surroundings especially when one there is a person what a turban on the plane or even just somebody who may look like they are not from the US or maybe a descendent of someone from the middle east. For example, globalization (Schaefer 2006, chapter14, pg 11) means global integration of financial markets and government policies. In some countries, this may be illegal or even forbidden due to laws of...

...Name Course Instructor Date Cause and effect of September 11, 2001 terrorist attack Although often caused by nature, disasters can have human origins. Often it is the unpredictability of such disasters that causes fear, confusion and stress that have a lasting effect on the affected community. In recent history, the Sept 11th terrorist attack is one such example. This paper will examine the terrorists’ motivation towards committing the attack and the effect it had on the American society. According to Pedahzur (2006), terrorist groups exist for the purpose of planning and executing attacks to accomplish their mission. Included among the objectives of terrorism are demonstrating the group’s power over population and government, exact revenge for perceived persecution and satisfy the group’s vengeance while at the same time gaining publicity for their actions. Accordingly, the September 11 attacks can be interpreted both as a direct signal to the United States to behave in a certain way and as an indirect signal to potential sympathizers that the united states is not invulnerable. Looking at it from this point of view, it can be debated that the most important cause of the terrorist attack was to diminish US prestige in the Arab world by sending the message that the symbols of UC economic, military and political power could be attacked (Pedahzur, 2006). Terrorism can cause cascading effects that can have global effects. As the term alludes...

...DHS & the Patriot Act CJ-355- Homeland Security Professor Anderson By Jimmy Ortega 4/29/14 The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks led to the forming of the Department of Homeland Security and the Patriot Act, which was a law passed just six weeks after the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were hit. This Act was passed by the Senate the by a vote of 98-1(Sensenbrenner, 2001). The Bush Administration considered this Act a form of "anti-terrorism weapon." It’s sad that it took our country to experience such a tragic act of terror to do something about our nation’s security. However, with everything that the Bush administration tried to do to help secure and tighten up our nation’s security while critics consider this Act unconstitutional and a violation of our rights. In addition, some felt that their privacy was being invaded and soon coming to an end. But also many others like me consider this Act reasonable due to the safety it would bring the citizens because many lives are threatened here in America. This paper will scrutinize and focus on the positive as well as some of the negative arguments that have been brought up when analyzing the Patriot Act. The Patriot Acts goals are to strengthen domestic security and broaden the powers of law-enforcement agencies with regards to identifying and stopping terrorists (Doyle, 2002) and enforced by the Department of Homeland Security. The Act also gives federal officials greater authority to track and intercept communications...
