...by their parents, who don’t understand the children’s needs. This is reflected in the story “Just like that” by Michael Richards, in which a young boy is taken into the bush to shoot kangaroos, by a man who wants to teach him what it takes to grow up to become a man. Does the boy like to shoot kangaroos, if not; why? Why does the man say: “Don’t walk behind me”? What happens in the end of the story? The narrator is third person and is omniscient. The language is simple and informal because it includes dialogues and repetition of dialogues. The atmosphere is gloomy, because the man does not trust the boy. It is exciting. The story is told in chronological order. The boy is young and inexperienced. It is the first time, he is in the bush to shoot kangaroos. He is brought by a man, who seems to be his father. To him the son cannot become a man, until he knows how to handle a rifle. Shooting kangaroos is the method the father uses to turn the son into a man. The boy is looking for a role model, who he finds in his father. But to pass his father’s test of manhood, he needs to shoot kangaroos. But even though the father is the boy’s role model, the boy finds him unsympathetic because he shoots the defenseless kangaroos. The son’s conscience plays a big role in this story. He does not like to shoot the kangaroos. His father pushes him by saying things as: “If you can’t do it now you never will.” (Page 1, line 6). The son interprets it as growing up and being able to live up...

...from boy to man. A boy and a man drive out to the wild to shoot some kangaroo, the boy hopes that shooting a kangaroo would make him a man, so he shoots more than 5 of them, but the boy does not want to shoot kangaroos. But he has to so he can pass the man’s test of manhood. He develops throughout the text and becomes a “man” Death is new to the boy, who is surprised by how easy it seemed when the man killed the first Kangaroos, it was exactly like the man had told him ”dead just like that” (p.1 l.1). So when the days starts are the boy immature. “The soft hair on his legs where soon matted and tangled” (p.25 1. 4). He has soft hair on his legs, and therefore are the boy young. The boy dies. “Suddenly the boy felt very calm. His eyes saw his hands lift the rifle. He felt nothing. He felt as if he were dead.” (p.29 l.18). The boy does not die, but has become a real man. When he has shot his first kangaroo he does not feel very good, he cannot even remember pulling the trigger” …He was empty as if his heart and guts had been sucked out of the barrel of his gun” (p.2 l.29-30). He is disappointed ”he had thought that somehow this would make him a man- but it had made no difference at all.” To him killing the kangaroo has been pointless, it did not make him a man. “The boy was surprised to find himself with an empty gun in his hands” (p.3 l. 28-29), again he does not know exactly what has happened, every time he shoots a kangaroo, it is like he does not do it himself. But he...

...beginning wrestlers who are just learning the basic penetration step. This drill is designed to help wrestlers focus on changing their level as they take their shot. If you are not familiar with the penetration step, check out How to Shoot in Wrestling. Grab a partner and you’re ready to go. Getting set: One wrestler stands with his legs slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, while the other wrestler starts facing him, in his stance, ready to shoot. There should be enough room to fit the shooting wrestler’s body as he goes through, so adjust your stance accordingly. Larger wrestlers may have trouble shooting though their partners’ legs; in this case, the wrestler should place one foot against a wall, allowing his partner much more room in which to perform the drill. Go!: On a coach’s command, the wrestler in his stance takes a shot in between his partner’s legs, focusing on changing levels and taking a deep step. Beginning wrestlers will have a tendency to shuffle through their partner’s legs on their knees, because this is the easiest route. Don’t get into this habit. Try to get through your partner’s legs using one big step. This is tricky at first, but in time it will seem effortless. It may help to place your hands on the mat as your shoot through, as well. Stand & repeat: Once you get through your partner’s legs, step up and face him (you should be looking at his back). Take another shot back through your partner’s legs and stand up in front of him. Continue this process...

...by Nick Woodman in 2002. He didn't set out to change the market for digital video filmmaking. He just wanted to shoot better quality surfing photos. Woodman is a wave rider, racecar driver, mountain biker, and snowboarder. He lives the lifestyle his indestructible cameras capture. While on a break, after his game promotion company Fun Bug failed, in Southeast Asia on a surf trip, he used a 35mm camera attached to the palm of his hand by a rubber band to try and capture his surfing activities on film. “Seeing those amateur photographers like him, who wanted to capture quality action photos of their activities, had difficulties because either they could not get close enough to the action or were unable to purchase quality equipment at affordable prices, his trip became his inspiration to found “GoPro”. He needed a way to attach the camera to the body for better shots while surfing. After realizing that the strap would eventually fail and the cameras would get wet or break, Nick realized that his company should be a camera company, not just a strap and accessories. He raised the capital for GoPro by selling sea shells and beads while he was in Asia. He bought shells and beads for $1.60 in Indonesia and sell them for $20 while living on in his VW bus on the coast. His family also loaned him $35,000 to help with the start-up. The first cameras where point and shoot cameras mounted on the wrist and have since evolved into digital cameras with Wi-Fi capabilities, cases that that...

...When thinking of science fiction television programs, one usually thinks of aliens, space ships, and laser blasters, this tends to shed a more childish light on the genre and most people tend to dismiss it as being no more than mindless entertainment. While there has certainly been a surplus of the campy science fiction shows on the air, some shows have used the science fiction genre to tackle serious social issues as well. This essay will take a look at two shows 54 years apart and will analyze how both use social concerns of the time period and create memorable narratives that speculate about human behavior and interactions. The first show this essay will look at is the generation defining classic The Twilight Zone (1959-1964), and the second show is a modern cult hit from the United Kingdom Utopia (2013-2014). //Through a comparative analysis of the episode “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” from The Twilight Zone (1959-1964) and “Episode 5” of the British cult hit, Utopia (2013-2014) this essay illustrates how the science fiction genre can be and has been used generation after generation to highlight certain social issues. Whereas The Twilight Zone uses America’s anxieties of communism and consumer culture to cause paranoia in the early sixties, Utopia uses big business, government conspiracies, and overpopulation in a plot that stirs up concern for the environment. Ultimately this essay will illustrate how social issues lay the foundation for a compelling science fiction...

...Introduction A new generation of video game consoles will be premiering shortly. The video gaming world is calling it “The Console Wars”. Although the battle of video game system superiority has been going on for a while now, this year promises to be on a larger scale than the previous wars. Sony, the maker of PlayStation, and Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, are expected to release their next-generation systems in November. This report will be a comparative analysis of the soon-to-be-released Xbox One and PS4. The purpose of this report is to compare both systems on their specific features. The goal is to find out which system is the best when comparing both capabilities and value. This comparative analysis is intended to help customers decide which system is better suited for their needs. This report covers: * The general description of each product * Accessories * Specifications * Exclusive games for each individual system After extensive research, I found that both systems are fairly comparable from a technical standpoint. However, I recommend the PS4 over the Xbox One based on value and services. General Description of Products PS4 Mark Cerny, lead architect of the PS4, said the development of the eighth-generation console began in 2008 (“PlayStation 4”). The PS4 is developed and created by Sony Computer Entertainment (“PlayStation 4”). On February 20, 2013, Sony announced that the PS4 would be the successor of the PlayStation 3 during a press...
