Cohesion is about working together for a shared purpose, sense of togetherness, bonding as a group, and for everyone to cooperate to be successful. There are two types of cohesion: high cohesion and low cohesion. High cohesion is described as being well connected as a team, good leadership, satisfied with being around everyone, good attendance, being more effective in achieving certain goals. Low cohesion is a sense of frustration at the lack of attainment, the lack of ability to cooperate with each other, more likely to refer to yourself instead of the group as a whole, don’t have good attendance, and lack of leadership. One example for high cohesion is being a member of a certain team, being disciplined with doing everything the correct way, being coachable, putting the team before yourself, being a leader over the younger class in a position, and playing for one goal. A winning team that is a championship caliber team is an example of high cohesion. An example for low cohesion could be working with a group for a class project or presentation. That problem would come from someone not being on the same page as the other group members, lacking research work because people don’t want to cooperate right, lack of leadership, or not wanting to have a successful outcome. An example for low cohesion is a group that doesn’t work together or not being on the same page is an example of low cohesion. Advantages of high cohesion are being together as a whole, being successful, being satisfied with the group, or having a certain group to belong to. Disadvantages of high cohesion are sacrificing individuality for the better of a team, putting your goals below the team’s standards, and it’s hard to leave because of feeling obligated to stay. Advantages of low cohesion are being able to reach certain goals as an individual, putting oneself before the team for extrinsic goals, and being able to leave at one’s choice. Disadvantages of low cohesion are not being successful as a whole, not being satisfied as a group, and not having a certain group to belong to.

Persuasive Writing Techniques

...Tick. Tock. At one moment while writing, you are looking at a blank document on your computer. Two seconds later, you are looking at the tweet you were tag in on your phone. Time is passing by faster than you know it. You realize now, the deadline on submitting your writing is approaching. You panic. You start to write random sentences, hoping that it will all make sense towards the end. Writing is a piece of art, therefore it should not include a deadline for submission. A deadline should not exist. A deadline affects the process of crafting a writing piece by focusing on the time of submission rather than the formation and creation of the writing. Writing should be about expressing feelings or emotions towards a topic that stands out. It...

Reflective Essay: What I Learned In My Writing Class

...During the entire spring semester of 2017 I have used my time to focus on bringing my writing skills up. My skills have gotten better in the aspect of morale, explaining, and focus. My last writing class was over a year ago and that was more of a research paper more than an actual focus on my writing skills. What I mean by that is I wasn’t just writing down just an explanation from a book but instead I was using this chance to experience a different in writing assignments. My first week back in writing wasn’t my best week due to my lack in practicing my skills but with just a week or two it came back to me. I started to remember to write out the end plan instead of writing what just comes to mind; which usually got me lost halfway through. The class was also a...

...This could be a topic that you're currently involved with at work. It could be a topic related to your major at college. Perhaps you'll want to write about a hobby (dog training, wood working, gardening, parasailing, etc.).  Whatever topic you select, have fun and be creative. NOTE:  All subsequent assignments in this class (your flier, letter of inquiry, memo, user manual, and report) will ask you to write about the same topic you have chosen for the sales letter.  Therefore, pick a good topic for your sales letter--one that you enjoy, one that you can live with for a few months, one that lends itself to a how-to user manual, and one that is mature and appropriate for a college class. Why write about the same topic over and over?  I'm asking you to practice a very common skill in technical writing called "single sourcing."  In "single sourcing," tech writers use and reuse content in different communication channels. You're not required to stick with the same topic.  If you want to change topics from assignment to assignment, go ahead.  But, reusing the same topic (and graphics) could save you time throughout the semester. | Now that you know the objectives for this assignment, follow this sequence: Read the sales letter's criteria to learn exactly what your letter will include. Review the sample sales letter. Prewrite to gather data, to determine your objectives, and to select an audience. Write a rough draft. Use the evaluation checklist to critique your rough draft...
