Do You Want Longer Lunch? Are you tired of having stomach aches after lunch from having to eat too fast? Trust me I know you are I feel your pain. I have had to throw away my food one time before I could finish it so having a short lunch is wasting money. So I think we should have a longer lunch! I will tell you why in the next paragraph’s. One reason is, Most average schools have 30 minutes for lunch but we only have 25 minutes and we don’t have recess after or anything. So it’s kinda like our only break besides 5 minutes between classes. And you might only have 10 minutes to eat by the time you sit down somewhere. Another reason is, When I did my research I found that even 30 minutes is to short for lunch. And here at SJMS we only have

Buffering Inventories

... Service buffering inventories involves humans, unlike manufacturing operation that involves static entities. 2. In Service operation entities are dependent on the provider. In service operations customer reaction to a situation may be at a disadvantage to the firm’s revenue intake. For example they are two eateries in the same vicinity but the one prefer by the customer is eatery A, so he/she goes to eatery A but because the queue and the time frame of rendering the service in eatery A is not favorable to the customer, he/she changes option due to choice and timing and goes to eatery B. the bottleneck in eatery A is probably the time it takes for the chef to respond to an order and therefore the time it takes to take an order is more shorter to the time...

Cafeteria Observations

...students tend to not eat breakfast, at Lacy Elementary, it is just the opposite. The bulk of the students come to eat breakfast which is a great way to start the day. According to Basch, skipping breakfast “has a negative impact on academic achievement by adversely affecting cognition and absenteeism” (Basch, 2011). Students sit quietly, talk and finish their homework during the breakfast session. The majority of the students discard their trash in the appropriate places. When it is time for the students to leave and go to class, students aren’t too noisy and exit the cafeteria appropriately. During lunch shift, the students’ actions are completely different. Since there are only 2 lunch shifts, the cafeteria is over crowded with students. Students walk around from table to table, shout, push students, and some students work on homework instead of eating. When exiting the cafeteria from lunch, some students push other students, they create a bottleneck around the door way, and some students run towards their next destination....

Food for Thought

...issues. First, the nutrition content and how they differ in these two areas. Secondly, the impact that both these foods have on one's budget. Thirdly, the kind of variety that both types of food have to offer. After reading the facts, the differences will be crystal clear. DOCTOR! DOCTOR! Is she going to make it? To find out the answer to this question, we must rewind several years back into Katy's life to when she was young, fit, and full of vigor. Katy started out working at a lucrative law firm as an intern. She was dedicated to her work and was a stickler to detail. This type of work ethic required long hours and often placed nourishment on the “back burner”. Katy frequented the local fast food restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and many a times, for dinner. After two years at this pace, Katy received a nice promotion, but she felt tired and sluggish quite often. Also, her bank account showed very little signs of life due to Katy's spending on clothes and food. Fast forward five years. Katy is now married and has started a family. Since then, she has become a great cook and an even better “frugal” spender. Katy's health and energy level have improved, which she needs to keep up with her busy household. Katy learned, in a few short years, a major lesson. When comparing fast food to homemade cooking, in regards, to nutrition, cost, and variety, there are vast differences. When comparing the world of fast food to homemade cooking, nutrition is the major dividing...

Sandwich Marketing

...INTRODUCTION A sandwich is a food item, typically consisting of two or more slices of bread with one or more fillings between them, or one slice of bread with a topping or toppings, commonly called an open sandwich. Sandwiches are a widely popular type of lunch food, typically taken to work or school, or picnics to be eaten as part of a packed lunch. They generally contain a combination of salad vegetables, meat, cheese, and a variety of sauces or savoury spreads. The bread can be used as it is, or it can be coated with any condiments to enhance flavour and texture. They are widely sold in restaurants and cafes. Bread has been eaten with any meat or vegetables since Neolithic times. For example, the ancient Jewish sage Hillel the Elder is said to have placed meat from the Paschal lamb and bitter herbs between two pieces of matzah (or flat, unleavened bread) during Passover. During the Middle Ages, thick slabs of coarse and usually stale bread, called "trenchers", were used as plates. After a meal, the food-soaked trencher was fed to a dog or to beggars, or eaten by the diner. Trenchers were the precursors of open-face sandwiches. The immediate cultural precursor with a direct connection to the English sandwich was to be found in the Netherlands of the 17th century, where the naturalist John Ray observed that in the taverns beef hung from the rafters "which they cut into thin slices and eat with bread and butter laying the slices upon the butter"— explanatory specifications...

Casual Dining Cyprus Market

...CYPRUS MARKET COMPETITION ANALYSIS CASUAL DINNING The casual dining category represents the highest percentage of food and beverage operations in Cyprus. This category includes casual dining chains, traditional Cyprus taverns, international cuisine restaurants, bar/restaurant operations (Irish bars), ethnic restaurants. During the last decade cafés have entered the casual dining market and managed to absorb a significant share by offering competitive prices. The majority of those outlets are family owned, however during the last decade many family businesses are expanding into bigger organizations with a more professional approach into the product, service and price. Some of those concepts even though they are not worldwide famous brands have managed to maintain high standards in food quality and service and are well profitable operations. Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO) is dealing mainly with the promotion of Cyprus as a touristic destination. At the same time, the CTO in cooperation with Health Authorities and Fire Department are enforcing strict quality standards regarding hygiene, health and safety, store design and operation. As a result Cyprus during the last 30 years has developed a food and beverage industry with premium quality standards for products and service. Casual Dining Chains This category, which is also analyzed on the next chapter, is international chains that are operating or will shortly operate in Cyprus. The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me

...After reading  Sherman Alexie's "The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me" I feel very shocked. I really can't remember what I was doing when I was young. Maybe I was watching TV, playing with my friends, having a afternoon nap and so on. At the same age, he started to reading foreign language books and comic books , this phenomenon will never happen in my life. Maybe he was smart and arrogant, but without the atmoshere of his family and his pervenance spirit ,he won't became such a successful people. His father like reading books and brought them from the pawnshops and secondhand and the books were so many that were stacked in crazy piles in the bathroom, bedroom and living room. He use every moments to read books such as lunch time, in the car when his family traveled, in shopping malls and so on. He also have a goodness heart and must be very patriotic. Because he always worried about the future of the Indian children and visit schools and teach creative writing to them. what;s more, although the children refuse and resist him, he never give up to save their lives. I don' t really like the Indian thinking. They hate the smart Indian people and expected to be stupid. Like what he said in the book the Indian children were monosyllabic in front of the non-Indian teachers, but after come home they were talking about complicated stories and jokes at the dinner table. How could they do this ? To be smart is everyone want and they just want to be stupid. In comic book panel...

AIM OF THE STUDY: An analytical study on the operational feasibility and challenges of providing mid day meals in India. 3. RATIONALE AND BACKGROUND FOR THE STUDY: The national program for nutritional support for primary children also known as the mid day meal program is one of the largest welfare programs in India and one of the only programs aimed at reducing hunger from the age group of 6-12 and increase the attendance in the primary education system. There are two models, which is the centralized model, and the decentralized model and it has been observed that most states are shifting towards the centralized approach; The program has been active since 1995 but there are still major cases of nutrition deficiency, anaemia, lack of vitamin A and iodine among many children in the country. (Rani & Sharma) A research work carried out by the centre for equity studies Delhi states that: - The drawbacks of the centralised approach include lack of employment, increased risk of food spoilage, no community participation, and lack of transparency; hence a research will be done to determine the effectiveness and viability of this approach and its comparison with the decentralized and handmade approach to food. ...supports legislation to repair crumbling highways which is also very important because we need good highways for tax payers to get too work in order for legislation to have the money to begin with and because I lived in Cleveland my whole life and so know a lot about bad streets and highway and how costly it is to get a bent rim fixed on your car because of problems with crumbling streets and high ways I can see why fixing them would be good side but I believe that the taking the 100 million to increase funds for school lunches to underprivileged is a much better idea. Coming from an underprivileged family I like many other children from my community received free/ discount lunch and when it wasn’t supplied by the school my parents had to use whatever food we had in the house for mem to take to lunch. A lot of time the meals weren’t the healthiest because like many other families we could not afford the health choices this such as fresh fruit and vegetables weren’t always available for me to take to school. If the 100 million were sent to increase funds for school lunches to the underprivileged all students would have the same opportunity to eat the same meal and have the same healthy...

Off Campus Lunches

...There has been a huge debate between students and the school board at hatch valley high on the idea of closing the campus off from all students during lunch. This method is not needed nor does it need to be enforced for many reasons . one reason is the school food is not appetizing to the students. Also most of the students want to relax during lunch time and mainly get out if the school and relax. Lastly some students also have to be responsible and maybe run errands for their parents during lunch time . For many students eating the lunch that the school provides its not something they enjoy doing. Students often say that the food that the school provides is nasty and disgusting they also believe that there are not enough food for them to keep a healthy diet.
