...Some had dropped out and some are still in college shifting courses just like me. So I decided to make a survey research regarding students in colleges on how passionate they are in the course they took up. I have delimited my research to students of the same course that I am taking to target a specific population and validity. Despite the problem of having many legal management students shifting courses, they take easy courses to graduate on time. As a current student and had been enrolled in legal management course in FEU, questions had bewildered myself if I had took the right path and made a right decision to take this course hence where will this lead me after I graduated from the course? There were instances in my college years that I opted or imagined to shift course for that matter because of the fear of the unknown. I am an irregular 3rd year student and I had witness some of my friends or almost of my friends if I may say had graduated from the courses they took and for my fellow legal management batch mates who if not shifted had graduated from this course but didn’t landed on a good job. The purpose of my research is to know the different reasons or the concrete intention or motive why some or a lot of students decided to shift course specifically legal management students. I will also probe if there is a trend of shifters or students from Leg Ma (Legal Management) jumping to another course and what persuade them to do it. This research will use survey questionnaires...

...examiner is looking for and how to answer the question. This is an excellent and flexible resource for both teacher and student, providing an insight into the mind of the examiner. I have often used the examination questions and tips from the first edition as useful homework activities. The question can be used without the tips, with the guidance given later and used for peer assessment or to help students develop their action plans for improvement independently. The key facts and terms at the end of the chapter enable students to develop a summary of the essential points over the course of each module, and they provide a quick, easy reference point and revision resource. Overall the book is extremely well presented and is an enhancement of the first edition while retaining the best features. It should prove a valuable resource for getting to grips with the delivery of the new specification for OCR, while meeting its aim of providing excellent quality content that can be used for the delivery of a business studies curriculum in general. Diane Kutar is subject leader in business studies, at Oakmeeds Community College, Burgess Hill, West Sussex. being conversational. The subject matter is comprehensively covered, with particularly good sections on pricing policy and tactics, and market research. Unfortunately, the reader will arguably find the book somewhat dull. And, perhaps, the lack of colour together with the hugely consistent layout throughout the 208 pages detracts from...

...The Various Effects of a Vegetarian Diet Article One Summary The first article asks two questions “Are vegetarian students more at risk for developing an eating disorder” and “What are first-year college students’ self-identified reasons for adopting a vegetarian lifestyle?” To find the answer to this question Trautmann (2008) set up a correlational study. The subjects included 330 vegetarians versus non-vegetarian first year college students. The subjects made up a convenience sample. The design was correlational and included findings of qualitative data. The independent variables in this study were the vegetarian and non-vegetarian students. The dependent variables were the mean DEBQ and EAT-26 scores. According to the mean DEBQ score there was an increase in the amount of dieting among vegetarians. These findings lead Trautmann (2008) to confirm “that a vegetarian lifestyle among first-year college students may be related to disordered eating behaviors” (p. 3). Assess This research article had some limitations. To start, the study was a convenience sample of first year students from one university. The subjects were also pulled from a very general class which may not truly represent the whole student body at this particular university. The study would have been better if it were executed in a randomized way. This study also uses a broad definition of vegetarianism and some subjects even considered themselves to be semi-vegetarians. Though...

...food offered on campus, and make the campus more accessible to those with handicaps and injuries. When contemplating which college to attend, most students greatly contemplate the cost of attendance. With that being said, because Shorter University is a private school and costs roughly $35,000 a year, many are robbed of opportunity to receive their education from this great institute. For example, there are multiple students from my high school who would love to be a Shorter Hawk after graduation but know that they cannot pay the required price. Also, many of my freshmen friends are leaving the school because of the cost. Most often, students will choose not to take out loans during their undergraduate education because many professions require upper-level degrees for employment, such as to be a Physical Therapist or a Psychologist. If Shorter University would lower the cost of attendance more students would be able to receive a great education without having to worry about being in debt for years...

I haven't seen her doing attendance. During math and reading her classroom has the inclusion students. During the math instruction, she had the students come to the carpet, then do individual and early finishers works. It is so useful to have additional work, especially in her class, when she has a variety of learners. I loved how organized she is and...

...school, go to the grocery store, and doctor visits. These are reasons we cannot afford to miss and therefore must buy gas. College students are the ones that are being hit the hardest with rising gas prices. The majority of college students are on a tight budget as it is. Gas is rising towards $5 and that is even before summer prices hit. College students having to pay that just to get to school on top of paying for school, is insane. Along with the great possibility of taxes rising it is even harder and harder to live comfortably. If college students did not have it hard enough with trying to handle school loans, trying to eat somewhat healthy, basic essentials and now the even bigger worry of gas. With all that is going on in the world and with our own economy the government should give at least college students with some sort of break. I recently read an article talking about how California college students have little public transportation therefore forced to buy gas. The 3million California College Student are trying to cut cost other ways. Some were not buying food and trying to go to local food pantries and donation centers others cut out fun relaxing activities. More and more college students are moving back home to try and cut cost but some say with the economy and gas prices that doesn’t even help. With all the other concerns college students need to worry about hopefully some relief is provided on gas...

...The most recently built dormitory at Georgia State University is Piedmont Central, where over 1,500 students live the in the heart of Atlanta, whether they live 30 minutes away from home or hours away from home. Piedmont Central has 11 floors where each floor is equipped with a study room, special activity room (play, movie, fitness, chat), gather room, and laundry room. I’ve been living at Piedmont Central for the past month, and because it was easily accessible, I decided to observe the “gather” room. The “gather” room is an open space which is dedicated to socializing and doing homework if desired. I observed at the beginning of the week, versus the end of the week from 7pm to 8pm, in order to be able to compare the differences in the atmosphere. In preparation for the observation, I simply sat on the closest available high chair and placed my book bag on the table. I actually only had one option since 5 high chairs were missing from the long, white, rectangular table. I made it seem as if I was doing homework and listening to music so it didn't seem too weird...

...FACTORS AFFECTING STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCEA Case Of Private CollegesSyed Tahir Hijazi 1 andS.M.M. Raza Naqvi 2 Abstract: Many empirical studies are carried out to explore factors affecting college students’ performance. The focus of this research is that student performance in intermediate examination isassociated with students’ profile consisted of his attitude towards attendance in classes, time allocation for studies, parents’ level of income, mother’s age and mother’s education. ...professional life, and educational goals. Developing a plan is the biggest impact you can make toward your personal responsibilities, a plan shows intent of achieving a goal that at first may be difficult, but with a plan the goal can be broken down and simplified. There are many areas of responsibility in one’s life. One of the easiest to consider and approach is home and personal life. Personal standards at home may vary from a trashed frat house to military precision in organization and cleanliness. Wherever on the scale preferences fall is the responsibility of the individual to keep. Organization and cleanliness may influence other aspects of one’s life. If a college student who lives alone has a clean an organized home, it may be much easier to prepare for classes. On the other hand, if the student lives in a somewhat messy and disorganized home he may be prone to forget supplies or assignments. Organization and cleanliness will also affect the student’s health, which may impede a successful college career. Technology is a very valuable tool; there are resources...

...Culture shock Every country has its own culture, and culture of a country is somewhat different from others. It is not so surprising that every country has its own culture which is different from others since even a family has its own culture which is different from other families. I have experienced cultural differences whenever I traveled outside of my country. I noticed that the Western culture is very different in some ways compared to the Asian culture. It was 1992 when I first came to the United States for learning English. I went to University of California at Santa Barbara which is well known as a party school (I did not know about this when I first came to the states). I had stayed at a dorm, shared a room with a university student, and shared a bathroom with 3 other university students who were all Americans. First thing that I noticed was that they did not study as hard as I thought. At that time when I was in that dorm, marijuana was popular among the students. Every night, I could smell marijuana and witnessed my American friends smoking it. Almost everyone in the dorm got high every night, and some people ran hallways, banged the door, and screamed. That was a culture shock for me because smoking marijuana is against law in my country. Three days after, I went to Nebraska to visit one of my friends. I planned to go to Colorado for skiing with other friends from New York and Kansas. On the airplane to Nebraska, I found all stewardesses were very old ladies....

...The group I attended was a therapeutic group called, I Am Second. It is one of several therapeutic groups offered for students at the high school where I teach. I debated on which group to attend and decided on the I Am Second group for two primary reasons. One, it is within a school setting, which falls in line with my school counseling certification, and secondly, it has the most amount of student involvement. The day I observed the group there were approximately fifty students in attendance. Its primary purpose is rooted in fellowship and faith. On many mornings, you can find members of the group offering free donuts in the commons for students and faculty as just a way to embrace their beliefs. The teacher sponsor of the group is present at meetings, but the group is student lead. The leaders actually met on Thursdays after school in preparation for their weekly Friday morning meeting. From my understanding there are a couple of primary leaders depending on the size of the group at each meeting. The leadership style of the group could easily be classified at democratic /participative. The weekly meetings begin with fellowship and announcements. I noticed there was no formal structure in the progression of the meeting and members were free to speak at...

...Since she has a positive attitude in school and cooperates, this may mean that her high rate of absenteeism might not be a cause disliking school but rather the cause might be something happening at home. The first thing that should be done is to talk to the parents and try to figure out why she is absent so frequently. Perhaps visit the home to have a deeper understanding of how Lupe lives and what is affecting her attendance. This will not only give a deeper understanding of the situation but it will show both Lupe and her parents that the school is extremely concerned for Lupe’s wellbeing and her success as a student. After having a better understanding of what happens in Lupe’s life outside of school, the next step would be meeting with Lupe’s parents regularly to have their support, this way Lupe’s parents will be involved in Lupe’s education and learning process. (Echevarria & Graves,2015 ) Working together, the school and the parents can provide strategies to help Lupe succeed in the classroom. By having a good communication with the parents, teachers are able to modify teaching to create educational strategies to help Lupe the best way possible. Lupe will feel the support both at home and at...
