Abstract
Teaching children with learning disabilities requires extensive knowledge in terminology and multiple frameworks of classroom instruction and management. When implementing different frameworks, it is imperative to understand the role of each concept and how it can be used successfully to support students with learning disabilities. Differentiated Instruction can be provided through Response to Intervention (RTI), the Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Technology in the Classroom, which are all well-known frameworks or strategies when discussing the teaching of students with disabilities. This paper will discuss each framework and its use within the classroom.

Terminology Research Project Teaching students with learning disabilities presents difficulties for teachers utilizing traditional teaching strategies. “As every veteran teacher realizes, students with learning disabilities and other learning disorders may be less engaged in the learning task, unable to cope with multiple instructions, and poorly organized in their thinking and work habits when compared with students without disabilities.” (Bender, 2012, p.1) With this in mind, experts in the field have, over the course of time, developed several frameworks to support students with learning disabilities in the classroom. These frameworks of differentiated instruction, The Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Response to Intervention (RTI), and the use of technology in the classroom, uphold the notion that students with learning disabilities are in fact capable of learning through alternative methods of instruction.
Differentiated Instruction
Through differentiated instruction, teachers anticipate and act on student needs within a classroom. In order to meet each student’s needs, teachers make changes to the way the

...person's ability to learn at a less than expected level and function in one's daily life. There are several known types of cognitive functions ranging from mild to severe that are viewed as with some form of Intellectual disability or another. The hypotheses of individuals who display or experience mental retardation normally have some type of mental or physical impairment. Due to the barriers and stigmas associated with around the term mental retardation, association, institutions and various fields are adapting to the new terminology intellectual disabilities. According to my reading, in 1990, Congress passed a Law 101-476, recognizing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Acts (IDEA). (Thomas, 2013) Special education terminology has historically under gone construction several times in the United States. (Thomas, 2013) As I began to discuss various questions related to individuals with Intellectual disabilities, you will see how the terminology, law, and the identification of ID is very much an open wide debate. Interesting enough, what was perceived as my understanding of children with Intellectual disabilities was not to far off in terms of my opinion. I would venture to say that, maybe I was not as informed as previously thought off. Now, moreover, in knowing that there are different levels of disabilities, ignorant people, I including, almost categorize individuals with some sort of impediment as a group. In knowing that there are a range from mild to severe...

Research Process and Terminology

...Research Process and Terminology CJA/334 May 10, 2012 Research Process and Terminology The year is 3022, individuals travel through the solar system at the speed of light. Every planet in the solar system contains communities governed under the Federation of Space Expedition. Individuals are free to live throughout the galaxy, without the regulations of the past. Does this scenario sounds too good to be true, individuals who inhabited the planet thousands of years ago would disagree probably. Today, however a scientific advantage allows aircrafts to travel back and forth into space, space stations, and the moon. Astronauts are assigned missions that gather materials from space, conduct experiments, and maintain equipment for future use. The methods of understanding research processes, and terminology, begins with a basic understanding of the fields themselves. The quest to fulfill the requirement of research starts with the principles of why the research is need in the first place. Recent studies involving medicine, environmental changes that cause global warming, and earth’s atmosphere, have revealed that drastic changes are need to preserve natural resources, and cure diseases. Research methodology requires an individual dedication to the process, and unwavering commitment toward the accomplishment of the mission. Research methodologists continue to examine aspects of studies, involving theories, fact finding elements, and final resolutions (Hagan, 2010)...

History of Special Education

...History of Special Education Erin Hauser SPE/300 May 4, 2015  Tabatha Astacio Arce Introduction Special Education has come a long way particularly since the enactment of two federal laws: the EHA (Education for All Handicapped Children Act) and the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). The EHA requires public education for all children with disabilities and the IDEA requires special education for those children. How Terminology Has Changed The term “mental retardation” has such an offensive vibe to it. Many teachers get upset when people use this term. However, it is used because that is what was written into the text of federal law. It says “ …a learning problem that is primarily the result of visual, hearing, mental retardation…” (20 U.S.C. 1401(30)). Some states have changed the terminology in their state statutes to “cognitive disability” or “intellectual disability”. Many people do not like the words “handicap” or “crippled” even, as it implies a negative feel towards the person. Some believe this makes us focus on their disability instead of the person and their gifts and talents. Many people refer to people with these struggles as “exceptional” as others have preferred “challenged” or “differently-abled”. Our society tends to focus on the negative in people or the “different” in people who don’t fit the “normal” criteria such as fashionable, intelligent, middle to upper class, athletic. English Language Learners

...According to the National Center for Education Statistics (2017) “Newly released figures from the U.S. Department of Education’s ED Fact data collection shed light on the population of ELLs who are also students with disabilities. In 2014-2015, some 665,000 ELL students were also identified as students with disabilities. ELL students with disabilities represented about 13.8 percent of the total ELL population enrolled in U.S. public elementary and secondary schools.” It is crucial to the student that they are learning at their maximum capacity and recognition or signs of a possible learning disability can help place students where they belong. As a teacher, observations of an ELL may include poor listening or reading comprehension, difficulty following directions or task completion, errors in grammar and syntax and low motivation. Due to the challenges of a new language and developing skills in order to become successful in a different academic course, as well as the social aspects that are involved, these assessments could be misidentified as special education needs. Delaying testing and assessment while allowing students to adjust to a new country or environment in order to learn could lead to under-identifying special education needs. This leads to delaying interventions and without...

...unstable, and oppositional in most situations where change is involved. Students with EBD are served in a variety of settings including the regular classroom. They encounter academic challenges and can pose as a potential threat to the teachers and their peers. It is important for educators to know and understand the rights of the students with EBD in their classrooms. They also need to research and implement effective strategies to use with the students. To best meet all the needs of the student, schools should create a special education team consisting of a special education teacher, regular education teacher, administrator, and parent. Each person is connected to the student in a different way and can provide insight on intervention and prevention. This paper will discuss and summarize the definitions and challenges of EBD, comparing and contrasting the experiences of a special education team versus research. ...The Endocrine System- Hormones and Behavior The Endocrine System Hormones & Behaviors Our behavior is not solely a product of the nervous system. The endocrine glands are equally important parallel communication system in the body. The endocrine system is made up of glands that secrete chemicals directly into the bloodstream or the lymph system. I have found a table that shows which glands are in the body and what exactly they produce or do for a human. Adrenal glands - Divided into 2 regions; secrete hormones that influence the body's metabolism, blood chemicals, and body characteristics, as well as influence the part of the nervous system that is involved in the response and defense against stress. Hypothalamus - Activates and controls the part of the nervous system that controls involuntary body functions, the hormonal system, and many body functions, such as regulating sleep and stimulating appetite. Ovaries and testicles - Secrete hormones that influence female and male characteristics, respectively. Pancreas -Secretes a hormone (insulin) that controls the use of glucose by the body. Parathyroid glands - Secrete a hormone that maintains the calcium level in the blood. Pineal body - Involved with daily biological cycles. Helps regulate the body rhythms and sleep cycles. Pituitary gland - Produces a number of different hormones that influence various other endocrine glands. Thymus gland - Plays a role in the body's immune...

Dmitriev, Valentine, and Patricia L. Oelwein, Advances in Down Syndrome. Seattle: Special Child Publications, 1988. This volume covers a wide range of intervention strategies including medical, educational, special needs, parental, and living skills. Although the readability lags in places due to complex subject matter, overall this is not a concern. Concise summary and conclusion statements are used effectively to enhance the clarity of main points and important concepts. The intervention strategies are well-documented, practical, and based upon acceptably current research. The book, while factual and thorough in its coverage of each topic, also conveys a positive attitude which promotes wider acceptance of people with special needs in general, and, in particular, of individuals with Down syndrome who have been misunderstood and maligned for so long. This insight better prepares and provides comprehension to organizations assisting in the enhancing the dynamics within both individuals and group behaviors. Organizational behaviors have enabled a more scientific approach in understanding the relationships between employees and managers and its link in terms of behavioral and social sciences. OB’s approach in terms of observable aspects are reliant on scientific methods using models, which link independent and dependent variables and the relative outcomes among the two applied any discovered theories of interest. Researched methods used in organizational behaviors include meta-analysis, field, laboratory, survey, and case studies, (Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn, 2008). These methods are applied in efforts to develop new means of understanding of how people within companies affect dependent variables and how companies can implement changes in creating a difference. An evidence-based thinking method used in OB called the contingency approach...

This paper critically examines the content of contemporary understandings of CC and locates them within the extant body of research dealing with business-society relations. Two conventional views of CC are catalogued – a limited view which largely equates CC with strategic philanthropy and an equivalent view which primarily conflates CC with CSR. Significant limits and redundancies are subsequently identified in these views, and the need for an extended theoretical conceptualization is highlighted. The main purpose of the paper is thus to realize a theoretically informed definition of CC that is descriptively robust and conceptually distinct from existing concepts in...
