Start with Why Paper #2
In my level 5 story, through recollection of my past experiences, whether it was from my past thoughts of swimming, long drive home, or church experiences, the positive emotions I felt were peace, humility, love, anticipatory, positivity and honor. These emotions are foundational to who I am as a person and shape who I am. These emotions I hold at different levels of who I am.
Firstly, within the confines of my passions, I would say that at the base root is love. I love to love others and I love life. That’s the foundation of why I do what I do for anything. I also think that my other passion is peace. I seek peace with others and desire harmony and strength with others and through others. It’s foundational to me and also the reasons why I do what I do. I really desire both peace and love for myself and others because I believe that is why we are created for what we do.
Similarly to in “Start With Why”, when it is discussed that people and companies can copy you and do what you do but they cannot emulate what you do exactly because they do not have the reasons why. This is the same in my life where people want to try to seek similar things as me but they aren’t going to do it exactly the way that I do it. For that reason I have been through different experiences and have a passion that is specific to me and who I am. That is not to say that I am better than anyone else, but to suggest that we all go through different experiences.
Next are my values and these are humility and honor. The reasons that these are demonstrated so boldly through my story is because I held the spirit of humility through my swimming career and thought that it was important to me throughout all of high school as well. I also love to honor people with my words of encouragement and care. I like to speak into their strengths of who they are. I like to be honored as well by others and the Lord. I know he places us all in specific situations in our lives to mold us and help carry us through our passions. Also, in “Start with Why”, Sinek states that the “How” or values help keep us in check with where we are headed in living out our passions. This is so true because we have to choose to live humbly and give honor to others to demonstrate our love a create peace in others.
Thirdly, my strengths are positivity and anticipation. These are my strengths because I know that I look positively upon every situation with the anticipation that something great will happen. This is caused from my base root of love and peace. With having the confidence to do such things, I have been able to be confident in the unknown and wait with expectancy that something great will happen. Sinek states that it’s biological fact that our brains are even structured to emulate the why, how and what of our lives. They are a impacted by why we do what we do but we will never reach our goals if we don’t know how or what to do to reach them.
In conclusion, my past experiences have sculpted my life into who I am today. They have formed me and changed me and I wouldn’t be where I am today if I also hadn’t lived out my passions by exercising my values and my strengths for me to reach the goals of my passions.

Why Is It Important To Start School

...It is Wednesday morning around 5:45 AM, so my brain is warming up to remember why it is important to start school. In the beginning of my academic initiative, I was a student at DeVry University where I graduated with an “Associates of Science Degree in Electronics”. Within a year or two after commencement (and launching a career), I realized the relevance of certifications within the technology industry and worked to collect as many papers of approval as time permitted. Eventually these industry credentials were devalued and new diplomas were pursued. The cycle continued for several years until my wife and I started our family. I love to learn and eventually realized the time devoted toward industry approval should have served toward a higher...

Why Start School Later?

...Why should we start school later? We should start school later because there have been studies that reveal students do better if they go to school at 9am. By starting school later we, students, can have time to get ready, we will be in a positive mood based on a soundly sleep, and we will have time to eat breakfast. Getting ready is important to some students. Some wake up around 5am - 6am to fix their hair or to put on makeup. With more time we can get to class early. Without that extra hour we need, some students arrive to class based on over sleeping. If a student come during middle of class they lost the beginning half of the lesson then they feel lost because they were late and they don’t know what the teacher or professor is teaching....

Why School Should Start Later

...School is a very interesting thing when it comes to learning, but sometimes and some subjects can make you want to fall asleep. I think on Friday’s, school should start way late on Fridays: like around 9:45 or 10:15! If school was to start on Friday’s it has to have reasons why. I looked up on google what the expert say and Dr.Paul Kelley says that Children 8-10 should start at 10:30 or later. Kelley called for an end to early starts at schools, colleges and university to “improve the lives of a generation”. An effect on students if there was to be a later day, is the sleep difference. An expert from CBS News says that middle schools should start later in the morning to give students their much-needed sleep. But Dr.Judith Owens says, “One of the issues is that kids are overscheduled, don’t give them so much work so they can be in bed before midnight. I agree with all these experts, but just because they’re experts doesn't mean they’re true. I only agree with two out of the 4 opinions from all of the doctors or professor’s opinions. I know that school is good for you but,why does it have to start so early? 9:15 would be fine!...

Why Do Schools Start Later

...Why do schools start at 8 a.m.? It is because it is more convenient for parents that have children in elementary school. School starts too early for teens; it is natural for elementary children to start at 8 a.m. but not teenagers. Teenagers need more sleep than older adults and young children. Schools should start later because students be more alert and healthier as well as schools will save money. Schools starting later will help students be more alert. The lack of sleep most adolescents get can cause moodiness, lack of attention, memory problems, behavior issues, and the ability to function (kqed). People between 14-24 years old are the most likely to be sleep deprived and it is due to not getting enough sleep during the week (iflscience). Benefits of sleeping include increased memory and learning, better attention span. Why School Should Start Later

...In many cities that have school start around 7 a.m., students are driving to school in the dark.  Most of these students are new drivers and are normally experiencing drowsiness while driving (Why Change?, n.d.).  The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety estimates that 328,000 motor vehicle accidents and 6,400 fatal crashes occur on U.S. roads every year due to drowsy driving.  From 2009 to 2010, a school district in Virginia had a 29 percent higher weekday crash rate than another school in the same state that started more than an hour later.  Data shows that a majority of drowsy driver accidents is highest among drivers between the ages of 16 and 24 years (AASM News Archive, 2014).  If schools decided to let their students sleep for a longer amount of time, crash rates would decrease by 16.8 percent.  Dr. Barbara Phillips stated, “Younger, inexperienced drivers...

Why Should Schools Start Later

...kids poorly More than 80% of schools start before 8:00. Schools should start time later because when kids fall asleep in class, they don’t get the knowledge they need, not enough sleep makes people sleepy and groggy and not enough sleep can hurt people mentally and physically. The first reason why sleep is important is when kids fall asleep in class, students don’t get the knowledge they need. Teenagers are tempted to stay up later so they have a tendency to fall asleep in class (The teen who woke up her school). This is bad if students fall asleep so this is one reason to push back school times. “60% of kids complain that they are tired in school,” states Sleepfoundation.org. Again, if school started at 8 or 8:30, there would be no problem with the complaining. The majority of students past the age of 13 are sleep deprived. To conclude this, Next when people don’t have enough sleep, people are really tired and cranky. The second reason why school should start after 8 is not enough sleep can make people sleepy...

Why School Should Start Later

...You are lying in bed smiling because you think you have more time to sleep. You peacefully lay in bed when your alarm clock goes off. You think “why does school have to start so early it feels like I just went to bed”. Experts say that the perfect time to start school would be 8:30 in the morning, FPMS starts at 7:50. This is a huge 40 minute time difference. The reason experts say that this is the best time is because it allows kids to get their 8.5-9.5 hours of sleep per night even if they go to bed at 11:00 or 12:00. Micah Ertl an 8th grade student at FPMS said, “I don’t like that school starts this early, it is a big jump from elementary school”. Why Schools Should Start Later

...Your alarm clock wakes you up groggy, on Monday morning for another week in school, for most people this situation is all too familiar and all too annoying. As you beg for 5 more minutes you once may have thought “Why can’t school start later.” Well for the following reasons. Starting schools 2 hours later means ending school 2 hours later and for students who play sports they could not go home until 7:30-8:30 pm. Most kids are not tired anyway and it is very expensive. Schools should not start later. First of all, it is common sense that starting school at the recommended 10:00am (2 hours later ) would mean ending school 2 hours later. Which, would mean kids who play sports who would usually get out of practice at 5:30-6:30 pm would be...

Why School Should Start Later

...Teens and Sleep School should start at a later time so teens could get enough sleep. It is no surprise that teens sleep late at night. Almost all of them only get about six hours of sleep. The reasons for that are: tons of homework, chores, jobs, etc. Sometimes they are even forced to go out by their parents/guardians because of a relative’s birthday party or just visiting friend. And when they go out, sometimes they come home late. Which forces them to do their homework at midnight. Some teens take AP and honors classes so they could easily get into colleges. Taking those classes puts a lot of stress into students if they don’t have time to study or do their homework. If school starts at a later time. They would definitely have the time to do it and they’d be able to sleep more. According to a research, not having enough sleep can have a huge effect on a student’s concentration, focusness, and alertness. They will feel sleepy and have problems focusing in school. My favorite quote from the article...

Why School Should Start Later

...Did you know that lack of sleep in children and teenagers can have a negative effect on their health and can cause kids to be less active and even lead to obesity? Schools all over the world should start later because of the mental health effects a lack of sleep can have on a student. One piece of evidence from the article “School Start Times” is, “Doctors say that kids between the ages of six to twelve should get nine to twelve hours of sleep a night to make sure they stay healthy.” This piece of evidence from the text supports my claim because this quote explains that if kids don't get a proper amount of sleep it could damage their health. The amount of sleep we need to get is different for everyone but studies show the more sleep you get the better students focus in class, so why do schools make students start so early if they know the students won't be at their best learning capability?...
