...abbreviation for sexually transmitted diseases. What does this mean? STD's are diseases that are transmitted sexually and can attack reproductive organs, pubic hair and bends & folds in the skin. There are two in my mind that pose the greatest danger to teens: AIDS and Genital warts. Genital warts can ruin a person’s social life and so can AIDS but AIDS can also kill. Unfortunately, STD’s have become common among teens to an alarming rate. With two thirds of the STD infected population being under the age of 25, high school and college students must learn the dangers and effects of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. STD’s are terrible and no one should experience such discomfort. Re-arranged As I mentioned earlier, STD’s stands for sexually transmitted diseases. They are infectious diseases in which they spread from person to person through intimate (sexual) contact. As many already know, the most common and most famous is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, better known as HIV; it cause s the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The sole purpose of HIV is attacking the immune system and killing the natural protection against diseases, leaving the person vulnerable to any infection or diseases. What always intrigues me is how the HIV generated? Could it be a virus that we already have, and it activates in a certain way? One day, I will find an answer to these questions someday along with a cure. In Japan a school organizes two awareness rallies about Sexually Transmitted Diseases...

The effects of teenage pregnancy vary greatly depending on a number of things including maturity, readiness, planning, health, and more. Becoming pregnant can only take one time and one time only and that seem to be one of the most common misunderstandings teens face today. When it comes to sex one thing that people should think...

...desired outcome. Within a community there are levels of prevention that are highly recommended when attempting to provide care to the community. Statistics have revealed that the proper implementation of levels of prevention can reduce aggressive disease progression in a target community. Obviously, to allow real change to take place amongst the aggregate it is imperative to properly identify the levels of prevention and apply the levels to the appropriate aggregate needs. In addition, to selecting the appropriate levels of prevention there is also a theoretical model that must be chosen accordingly to the needs of the aggregate. ...Sexually Transmitted Diseases STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) are diseases that are transmitted through sexual intercourse with another domestic partner. Usually STD’s are transmitted through oral, anal, vaginal, or other sexually active bodily contact. Sexually Transmitted Diseases are 100% avoidable. There are many techniques, but the most effective way is to have sexual intercourse with only one partner in your whole life, making sure that your partner didn’t have sexual involvements with anyone else. Another method is a condom. A condom fits over the male erect penis, to protect both partners of any diseases that may possibly exist. It is also vital to buy the right kind of condom. Some condoms are porous, which means bacteria can travel through the holes as well as sperm. A good condom would be one with a small latex tip to avoid breaking of the condom. Overall, latex condoms are good ways to prevent STD’s and pregnancy, but they do break, so it’s not 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy or disease. There are many methods out there, but the most effective method is to have sexual intercourse with one partner. Who thought that sex would be easy? It’s not. ...I feel as if my experience is something that most college students can relate to. What my experience illustrates is the sexual pressure college students’ feel. Disregarding gender, I feel like most students attending college are exposed to the idea of having a spontaneous sex life. It has just become a common stereotype many people start to live up to, that once you are in college your sex life needs to be adventurous. The main concern with such pressure is the type of dangerous exposure college students face when they pursue such an active sexual life. One of the most common issues related to an active sexual life, is the common factor of risking your health with sexually transmitted diseases. When looking at statistics, many of the numbers show people from the ages of 18 and up are the ones who attract STD’s the most. These numbers signify the problems that this age up has. According to Guttmacher institute, there are approximately 19 million new cases of STIs each year, half of them among 15–24-year-olds, and that 65 million Americans have at least one viral STI, most commonly genital herpes (Guttmacher). If you think about it these numbers are really high, but are these numbers enough for young adults like us to stop us from having sex? When it comes to sex for a young adult he or she doesn’t...

...“There are some questions so painful and perplexing that statesmen, moralists and philanthropists shrink from them by common consent; out of all these questions prostitution is the darkest, the knottiest, and saddest” (Gilfoyle:0). The geography of prostitution is based on the area of social trends and acceptance. The most visible evidence of this is the rapid rise in the number of brothels and “bawdy houses” in New York during the 1820’s. Prostitution became increasingly more involved in urban life even though being criminalized by law. Yet the people who decide the legislation on prostitution were some of its most loyal and profitable customers. Prostitution is an un-harmful act and should be legalized, regardless of society’s uneducated opinion on the matter. Prostitution should be legalized for the facts that it would generate a substantial amount of income for the federal government as a means of taxation; legalization would suppress the spread of venereal and it would also reduce the amount of crime along with physical violence which occurs in the commercial sex trade. In the majority of states, prostitution is suppressed to illegal activity and many believe it to be a form of immoral actions. But in Nevada, the state became famous by grasping and promoting the un-popular commercial sex trade, which was banned elsewhere in other states. Prostitution has become a legitimate cash crop. Nevada began legalizing prostitution during the early 1970s; since then, they have been...

...education. Teaching our adolescence about abstaining does not stop them from engaging in sexual activities. This country can reduce the overabundance of unwed teenage mothers by educating our teenagers about contraception and sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s), as well as abstinence-until-marriage. At one point in time teenage marriage was accepted and thought of as the norm. Many ancestors within family trees throughout the nation are filled with young wives and mothers. Time, culture, and the economy prevent younger couples from taking part in the union of marriage. The financial inability to support a family in today’s frugal world has put a damper on the morality of marriage. In essence, society has helped promote teenage sexuality. The two most crucial outbreaks among our younger society is out-of-wedlock childbearing and sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) (175). A large number of kids today are not educated on the harm of STD’s and STI’s. Our public schools are only required to lectures about ghese effects to Jr. High and High School students, one day per school year. Up until recently it was up to parents to prepare their children from the harms of unprotected sex. Many families today are dysfunctional and teaching kids about preventing disease and using contraception while having sex is not a priority; therefore, it should be a part of the curriculum. Abstinence-only education does not do good by this country’s youth, because there is no requirement to inform them...

...parental responsibility or school system curriculum. Most parents feel that it is their responsibility to educate their own children about sex education in the comfort of their own home, providing their children with the information they (the parents) are able to demonstrate to their children. Schools are children constant source of learning. In having school systems incorporate Sex Education into the curriculum, it would make it mandatory for children to learn about the details, and the consequences of reproduction in a more elaborate setting. This would allowing students to be taught the same knowledge with the most up to date information provided by a licensed school professional in subjects: contraceptives, teen pregnancies, and STD’s. Individuals could argue that distributing condoms in schools would promote unjustified premarital sexual activity amongst school-aged teenagers. Those same individuals believe that parents should take apart of their own child’s development in sexual knowledge. Properly equipping them (their child) with prescribed contraceptives from doctors, or condoms disbursed directly from them (the parent). It is not uncommon for parents to give their children condoms; however, it can provide moments of awkwardness between the parent and the teenager. Having the educational system deal contraceptives could prevent that awkwardness. This also lets the Sex Education teacher respond to comments or questions that teenagers may be too embarrassed to...
