It is required to complete by a group of students and students play one of five different roles on a team of hiker. Each member of the team has their unique goals to complete and there is also a common goal of reaching the Everest summit. During the simulated six-day climb, team members should analyze information on weather, health conditions, supplies, goals and hiking speed, and then determine how much of that information need to communicate with their teammates. Every decision that each member made will influence the team performance eventually. The aim for this simulation is to explore influences on collective decision-making, including opposing interests and cognitive biases, analyze different leadership approaches and team responses. ...Community Teaching Plan: Teaching Experience Summary of Teaching Plan The idea of teaching a community about possible attacks on our country was one thought, but actually giving them the knowledge of what the various ways to, ultimately, defend themselves was a much greater cause. The possibilities that we may face a biological terrorist attack is quite real. We have seen the horrors of 9-11, we are aware of the wars and hatred; which gives us as human beings all the more reason to learn about these tactics. This presentation was probably the toughest thing I’ve ever had to do. Public speaking isn’t my strongest trait; however, I believed this was my nursing duties to give complete strangers the knowledge that might save their lives one day. Power point presentations are always a helpful tool when explaining a subject that those may not know, they seemed to be much more intuitive and very interested during the whole time the presentation took place (Nursing Planet, 2013). Well, in my opinion, when any one is explaining the probability and various ways that I may need this knowledge to someday defend and save not only my own life but also the people around me I would be pretty interested myself. He first discusses the movement from loneliness to solitude. Our fear of loneliness drives us to an unending quest of activities, education, and entertainment. Our quest generally does not lead us out of our loneliness, but rather distracts us so as to pretend that loneliness does not have any impact on us. Nouwen encourages us to stop running from our loneliness and actually embrace it. In so doing, the reader can expect to find a solitude that can only achieved through a still, quiet appreciation of ourselves. The second attribute of the spiritual life presented is the movement from hostility to hospitality. A common theme discussed in this movement is the need to realize the host’s lack of ownership of the stranger or guest. The call to servitude is instead embodies the concept of hospitality. According to Nouwen, hospitality also requires the host to create a safe, receptive environment that promotes growth of the individual within the context of safe boundaries, not as a form or restriction, but one of guidance.
