Practicum Summary:
Assisting the Women Wellness Connection and Colorectal Program to coordinate, organize, and develop a comprehensive report after reviewing seven statewide environmental scan report. The comprehensive report will enable the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to better understand gaps, services, and needs related to breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening. In addition, this position will work closely with the Office of Equity and learn about different opportunities within the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. This position will provide the opportunity to identify and visit disparate population in Colorado to provide a voice to underrepresented communities.

From the seven environmental scan reports, I will compile and learn how to create a state level report for the CDPHE. CN-GHHD 3- Incorporate the impacts of gender, race, poverty, history, migration and culture in the design and assessment of interventions addressing health disparities.
CN-GHHD 6- Identify the role of cultural, social, economic, and behavioral factors in the accessibility, availability, acceptability and delivery of public health services locally, nationally, and internationally
CN-GHHD 7- Apply basic skills of message production and delivery for a target audience, which can be employed in a communication-based public health intervention. I will have meetings with Ivy once every week and more if needed to talk about my process with the report. Ivy will provide feed back on this report to make sure that it was completed correctly and meets the expectations of the CDPHE. This report might be shared within the CDPHE. Ivy will have the final approval on this report.

CR-HSMP 9- Identifies and interpret key public health laws, regulations, and policies affecting health programs and the delivery of health services.
CR-HSMP 11- Describes the importance of engaging stakeholders and building coalitions in the development or implementation of health policy. I will be able to summarize to Ivy what the meetings were about if she did not attend. I will also update Ivy when I can about what I learn connecting with the different divisions. There will be no report created.
