...BUSINESS ETHICS AND STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS Kenneth E. Goodpaster Abstract: Much has been written about stakeholder analysis as a process by which to introduce ethical values into management decision-making. This paper takes a critical look at the assumptions behind this idea, in an effort to understand better the meaning of ethica] management decisions. A distinction is made between stakeholder analysis and stakeholder synthesis. The two most natural kinds of stakeholder synthesis are then defined and discussed: strategic and multi-fiduciary. Paradoxically, the former appears to yield business without ethics and the latter appears to yield ethics without business. The paper concludes by suggesting that a third approach to stakeholder thinking needs to be developed, one that avoids the paradox just men* tioned and that clarifies for managers (and directors) the legitimate role of ethical considerations in decision-making. So we must think through what management should be accountable for; and how and through whom its accountability can be discharged. The stockholders' interest, both short- and long-term, is one of the areas. But it is only one. Peter Dnicker, 1988 Harvard Business Review W HAT is ethically responsible management? How can a corporation, given its economic mission, be managed with appropriate attention to ethical concerns? These are central questions in the field of business ethics. One approach to answering such questions that has become popular during...

Further analysis was conducted by evaluating these ratings with job performance information collected in two surveys that include 2009 C-Span poll of 62 presidential historians and a 2010 Siena College survey of 238 historians. A paragraph should begin here as the topic shifts to major findings. Major findings from this research state that American president’s shows higher degree of psychopathic behavior in comparison to general population. Major finding from the paper shows that Teddy Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy were the most fearless dominant presidents in US. It also highlights on importance of luck, circumstances and outcome of presidential decisions which might be regarded as courageous or psychopathic depending on the scenario. Major learning derived from this paper states that fearless dominance has both positive and negative impact depending on the way it is being implemented; boldness should not become recklessness and cause ignorance towards other problems. Analysis shows that various...

...after all, real life situations. Cases develop a manager’s analytical skills, because the results are quantitative and qualitative in nature and support their recommendations and decisions. They are also beneficial in helping the learning process of asking the right question(s). Case studies place you (the student) in hypothetical Consultant position, requiring you to weigh the facts and options to recommend those critical decisions. As the consultant, you are to remain objective and refrain from making subjective claims. Opinions should be supported using concepts and terms from your text. If you use outside research, be sure to cite your sources IN the body of the paper as well as listing the source as a reference at the end of the paper. A case study will have three common traits. They deal with real companies and situations, seldom have a solution, and contain loads of data. Your task as a consultant will be to review the respective data, locate the relevant information, arrange it in a practical and sequential order, and arrive at a solution or recommendation. You must remain objective throughout this process. Since this is a formal analysis, you are to write in a style that reflects formal, collegiate level work. This will include an objective perspective, 3rd person voice, lack of contractions/slang/expressions. Any references should contain appropriate citing. Failure to do so will affect your grade. ...George Obiyo Varieties of Capitalism A synthesis essay on Washington Consensus, Ways of achieving a fiscal discipline, Fundamentalism (arguments against), Difference in European Liberalism and A post Washington consensus with empirical evidence on economic development. A) Washington consensus was a term created in 1989 by an English Economist John Williamson which focused on 10 relatively specific forms of economic policy that could help to promote developing countries that are in economic crisis. It was based in Washing D.C USA by institutions such as the US Treasury Department, World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF). Williamson three main idea were based on the Macroeconomic discipline, the development and expansion of market forces around the domestic economy and the high degree of economic openness in and around the world. The ten policy reforms centers on: 1. Fiscal Policy – Constructive monetary discipline while avoiding a high rate of deficit : with a high deficit it could lead to balance of payment crisis with relatively high inflation that in most cases only affect the poor class as the rich are able to transfer their money overseas 2. Public Expenditures Priorities – The government should be neutral by eliminating or reducing in terms of non-merits subsidies and give more focus to pro-growth and pro-poor way policies example sectors like health, Education and infrastructure. Where health can close the gap between inequalities as the poor can cheaply...

...From this paper we get a idea about use of fly ash in the adsorbent use and for that some basic characteristics like unburnt carbon substances, alumina & silica content are the basic responsible. At the end of experiment conclusion is percentage of color removed increase with quantity of absorbent and contact time increase while percentage of color removal is decrease with increase in concentration and PH values and temperature of dye. From this paper we come to know about the use of fly ash in absorbsion for phosphate removal. To use for phosphate removal fly ash have high concentration of calcium and we come to know about the discharge limits for phosphate content till 0.5-1 mg/L. The advantage for using fly ash as absorbent instead of lime is that it does not produce any excess chemical...

...Explanatory Synthesis Paper Name of Student University Affiliation Explanatory Synthesis Paper Advertising refers to an approach to marketing that is often aimed at persuading a given audience through the media to continue doing something or to take actions that relate to ideological support or commercial offering. Advertising as a form of marketing communication has evolved over the years whereby it has gone through major changes and improvements to achieve the desired goals by corporations and businesses. Also, among the significant changes in advertising includes the shift from traditional approaches to advertising to the digital advertising on digital environments and platforms provided by the advanced technologies. However, despite the shift in advertising from the earlier approaches and methodologies, the traditional advertising styles have contributed a lot to the current issues in advertising. Among the current issues in advertising includes the focus on the development of brands and their images as opposed to the traditional focus on products. With the development of new types of products and laws and regulations, corporation and business focus more on the development of company and business brands and images as opposed to products since it adds more value to a company. This is in the sense that strong brands for companies give the respective firms good reputation and memorability among consumers hence leading to the development of consumer loyalty. In addition...

...Michele Linton February 25, 2015 Dr. Lawrence Ness RES-811 Synthesis Paper My challenge was to synthesize three separate articles. Discover the commonalities, and distinguish the differences. Synthesis requires one to combine two or more separate entities in order to form one. The journal articles had more in common than I thought at first glance. The first article was about fearless dominance. I didn’t have a lot of experience and/or knowledge about this topic, but after reading I was surprised at how interesting and powerful it was. The second article was about transactional and transformational leadership. These forms of leadership are opposite types of leadership that collective make up an amazing leader. The final article is about leadership identity and the importance of self-awareness in leadership. In my paper, I will give a brief overview of the three articles and discuss the similarities. Fearless dominance and the U.S. presidency: Implications of psychopathic personality traits for successful and unsuccessful political leadership. It has been said that fearless dominance has an association with strong rated presidential performance, leadership, persuasiveness, crisis management, congressional relations and allied variables. Fearless dominance appears as a characteristic frequently among presidents and has a correlation to job performance ratings. Also, psychopathic...

...Princeton University Guyot Hall, Washington Road, Princeton, NJ 08544-1003, USA E-mail: elarson@princeton.edu Ren Tingjin Department of Thermal Engineering, Tsinghua University, 100084 Beijing, China This paper reports detailed process designs and cost assessments for production of clean liquid fuels (methanol and dimethyl ether) by indirect coal liquefaction (ICL). Gasification of coal produces a synthesis gas that can be converted to liquid fuel by synthesis over appropriate catalysts. Recycling of unconverted synthesis gas back to the synthesis reactor enables a larger fraction of the coal energy to be converted to liquid fuel. Passing synthesis gas once over the synthesis catalyst, with unconverted synthesis gas used to generate electricity in a gas turbine combined cycle, leads to less liquid fuel production, but provides for a significant second revenue stream from sale of electricity. Recently-developed liquid-phase synthesis reactors are especially attractive for ‘‘oncethrough’’ processing. Both ‘‘recycle’’ and ‘‘once-through’’ plant configurations are evaluated in this paper. Because synthesis catalysts are poisoned by sulfur, essentially all sulfur must be removed upstream. Upstream removal of CO2 from the synthesis gas is also desirable to maximize synthesis productivity, and it provides an opportunity for partial decarbonization of the process, whereby the removed CO2 can be captured for underground storage. The analysis here suggests that co-capture and co-storage...
