Taking a bold stand against issues takes a great amount of courage. Taking a bold stand can affect the people around you. It can help people in ways that can’t even be seen.

A time in my life where I have stood up for something might have been a small something, but it is a big issue even today. I stood up for bullying. I stood up for a fellow student who didn’t have the courage to speak out for themselves. I stood up for anyone who didn’t have the same amount of courage as I did. I stood up for what any human bean should. I stood up for someone’s life, happiness, and freedom to be who they are.

When someone bullies another it can take a person’s happiness away. It can take someone’s reason for living away. It can take someone’s life away. And I couldn’t let that happen. If no other person could speak up I would. If no one could stop it I would. So I did. I made it known that it was wrong and needed to be stop. I took a bold stand.

When it was all said and done it didn’t stop immediately it took time and more people to get involved. The victims eventually got courage to stand up for their own sleeves. They will no longer be brought down by the influence of others. They will always remember the day they gain that courage, courage to be who they are and not be judged and tormented because of it. That is the outcome of my bold

Is Lady Macbeth To Blame For Duncan's Death?

...were very thorough when killing the king. To execute this plan to kill the king so perfectly one person has to take charge and make things happen. I believe that Lady Macbeth was more responsible for Duncan’s death than Macbeth. The reason I believe it is Lady Macbeth was more responsible for Duncan’s death is that she starts the whole process of killing Duncan out by making the guards getting the guards drunk. “That which hath made them drunk hath made me bold / What hath quench’d them hath given me fire.” (2.2.1-2) Lady Macbeth in this quote is setting up Macbeth for failure because she is basically saying I just got the guards drunk so that their defenses are down all you have to do Macbeth is kill Duncan. This shows that Lady Macbeth is more urgent to kill Duncan by taking the first steps of the plan....

...work in all shapes and sizes. All this while challenging our intellect The type of style van Gogh would like to work was as a post-impressionist painter and the reason towards this style of work was due to wanting to create art works which held noble beauty, emotional honestly and bold colour all in one. Van Gogh learned his skills and developed his ideas in his early years by looking and copying paintings which he was most interested in and reading 19th century drawing booklets. In addition he felt to be an amazing painter an artist most first master the art of pencil drawing therefore he felt it was very important to master black and white before even thinking about adding and using colour and in such when he was happy with his drawing then he would add colour. Drawing in a whole allowed van Gogh to take in light and pictures much faster than painting and this lead to van Gogh firstly drawing out his paintings instead of actually just painting them right away. One of van Gogh’s famous art works was “The starry night” and it was produced 1869. In this art work I can see a small hidden town hidden behind a large mountain in a distorted form of looking like a castle and a breathe taking view of a starry night as almost if the cosmos are in reach of my fingertips. The composition of the painting has a form of repletion in a high and low rhythmic kind of way with the patterns in the starry night sky resulting in creating an effect of a realistic and abstract painting at...

...The article chose to do is titled “Even on Religious Campuses, students fight for gay identity.” This article was written by Erick Eckholm in the New York Times. This article is about how the amount of gays and lesbians are coming out of the closet at a Christian school. However, at the same time they have to battle to be accepted by Christian schools, which say that everyone should be accepted. This is becoming a big issue in many schools. There are a lot of students that are dealing with this problem, not just in Christian schools, but all over. Christians are known to have the belief that everyone, no matter their status, should be accepted. So this to be issue in the Christian schools, raises a lot of questions to these students and the people who support the Christian faith. The article states, “Decades after the gay rights movement swept the country’s secular schools, more gays and lesbians at Christian colleges are starting to come out of the closet” (Eckholm) from what I have learned about the Christian belief, this sounds like it should not be a problem. However, the article goes on to say, “But in their efforts to assert themselves, whether in campus clubs or more publicly on Facebook, gay students are running up against administrators who defend what they describe as God’s law on sexual morality, and who must also answer to conservative trustees and alumni.” (Eckholm) This means that these Christian schools are not living up to what people thought was the real...

USS Chief

...The rank of Chief Petty Officer in the Navy represents leadership. Taking the symbolism of this rank into account, it’s no wonder that three of the United States Navy’s ships have been named after it: the USS Chief (AMc-67), the USS Chief (AM-315), and the USS Chief (MCM-14). Each ship has it’s own unique history and has played a role in keeping the waters safe for the United States Military. The USS Chief (AMc-67) was an Accentor-class minesweeper with a length of 97 feet and one inch and weighed 185 tons. Before being commissioned, the ship’s name was changed to the USS Bold on May 23rd, 1941. Commissioned on May 27th, 1942, the USS Chief/Bold (AMc-67)’s purpose was to scour waters (primarily American) in order to detect and denote mines. As her first assignment, on June 12th, 1942, the AMc-67 sailed down to Yorktown, Virginia to receive training. “The coastal minesweeper reported to the Mine Warfare Training School and conducted two weeks of training there before being detached to proceed to the 6th Naval District”(“Revolvy, LLC.”). For the duration of WWII, the AMc-67 generally operated along the coasts of...

Schindlers List- the Little Girl in Red

...scale ever happened. Though filmed in black and white the director chose to highlight a few images in color to draw attention and elicit emotion. The actress who portrayed “the little girl in red” is 24 years old now but the impact the film had on her disturbs her to this day. We are introduced to the girl in the screenplay on page 52; she is described as wearing small red shoes. In the movie the director chose a jacket instead of just the shoes. I think this was merely because it could be viewed easier by the audience. But why do both screenplay and movie use the color red. I believe red was chosen because it is a bold color that stands out but it is also the color of blood. It can be assumed that its significance was chosen to represent that amount of bloodshed during that time. The scene takes place in one of the ghetto’s. The screenplay describes this taking place during dawn. In the movie it appears to be later in the afternoon, but it is the weather that plays a more important role than the time of day. The movie sets the scene during a rainy and dreary day to coincide with the events that are occurring. This choice does a better job reinforcing the fact that what is happening is just plain miserable. In the screenplay and movie Schindler watches the cleansing from the hilltop. The image was particularly strong. It was almost as if the writer had an underlying theme to imply that the rest of the world is just watching as the atrocities occurred. The screenplay doesn’t...

NYC Subway's Advertisement Toward Teen Moms

...as Likely Not to Graduate than Kids Whose Moms Were over Age 22”(see fig.1.) Text is a vital part of an accurate advertisement. In this advertisement how the font is arranged is implemented well with the exception of one place. That one place is in the bottom right corner, that text looks like it was thrust into the corner and seems like an afterthought. Not only is the text jammed but is almost unreadable in comparison to the rest. Therefore, giving the appearance that the text help line in that corner pales in comparison to the anecdotal text. Font helps words to stand out in small advertisements. The crucial font in this ad is the font used on the apparent Childs’ anecdote. The font appears big, spaced out and shaky in the sizes. This is used to make the text appear as the child wrote it, again taking the viewer back to the teen moms. The font involved in the banner is a bold font. That bold font makes the viewer believe that the fact is of great importance and should be the center of attention. From a young reading left to right occurs naturally, as a result the Childs’ emotional expression is the first thing seen. The children’s emotions give the impression that they are distressed over the situation with their parents especially their mothers. The expressions are made to pull at the audience heartstrings giving sympathy back to the poor child, thus criticizing the mom. Viewers will pay more attention to emotionally charged events, so the audience will have...

Bussiness Marketing

...The role of marketing Philosophy behind the marketing efforts of modern businesses is that the company should satisfy the needs of their customers and produce products and services to satisfy those needs. This way, the customers is at the centre of the business. Production concept – The production concept is where a business focuses on creating economies of scale in production and distribution of a product or service. This assumes that customers will purchase lower-priced items, so demand is driven by availability. Examples of this practice can be found in construction suppliers, where construction firms will purchase cheaper building materials to increase their profit margins. Sales concept – this is commonly known as ‘the hard sell’, where a product or service is produced and personal selling and other high-pressure selling techniques are used to convince customers to part with their money. Marketing concept - unlike the alternatives above, the customer at the centre of all decisions before the product or service is developed. This can make business more efficient, by focusing investment on products that customers will need and use rather than investing in products that customers may not buy. SMART objectives * Specific – the objective must be clearly stated and focused * Measureable – in order for the business to see how it is performing against its objectives, it needs to be able to quantify its performance * Achievable – for an objective to be useful...

Israel Mobilizes as Rockets Target Jerusalem

...approved the call-up of 75,000 Israeli reservists, more than doubling the number authorized the previous day. Heavy armor and soldiers from two elite brigades continued to mass at staging grounds on the Gaza border. A decision to launch a ground invasion could come within 24 to 36 hours if rocket fire continues, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon told CNN on Friday "They don't call up all these reserves to keep people standing in the stands watching," said a senior Israeli military official. "After rockets on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, it's pretty hard not to" order a ground invasion. For three hours on Friday, Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Qandil visited the Gaza Strip and stood hand-in-hand with leaders of Hamas, the militant and political group that rules Gaza. Coming after two days of Israeli strikes there, it was a bold show of support for Hamas from Cairo as well as a diplomatic gambit to gain a break in the fighting. Israel had pledged to hold its fire during Mr. Qandil's visit. But rockets from the Palestinian territory could be heard taking off toward Israel, even as the Egyptian premier spoke to reporters. Relatives grieve at the funeral of one of the three killed in an attack on Kiryat Malachi, Israel. The emerging question in the latest conflict—which was sparked by a rise in Gazan rocket attacks on Israel earlier this month, and broke into the open when Israel assassinated Hamas's top military commander on Wednesday—is how far Egypt's...

The Masque of the Red Death

...The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe The "Red Death" had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal--the redness and the horror of blood. There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution. The scarlet stains upon the body and especially upon the face of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the aid and from the sympathy of his fellow-men. And the whole seizure, progress and termination of the disease, were the incidents of half an hour. But the Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious. When his dominions were half depopulated, he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court, and with these retired to the deep seclusion of one of his castellated abbeys. This was an extensive and magnificent structure, the creation of the prince's own eccentric yet august taste. A strong and lofty wall girdled it in. This wall had gates of iron. The courtiers, having entered, brought furnaces and massy hammers and welded the bolts. They resolved to leave means neither of ingress nor egress to the sudden impulses of despair or of frenzy from within. The abbey was amply provisioned. With such precautions the courtiers might bid defiance to contagion. The external world could take care of itself. In the meantime it was...
