Team Building Worksheet
Complete the Team Building Worksheet by answering the following questions in 200 to 300 words each.
1. Describe team members’ results on the Discovery Wheel and develop your multiple intelligences exercises. What similarities and differences exist within the team?
Along with some of the other members on the team, I also have to learn how to manage my time better. Working full time and being enlisted in the Army Reserves makes getting schoolwork done a very difficult task. I also find that I tend to procrastinate at times.
2. What are the advantages of having diversity on a team? What challenges might the team face because of diversity?
Diversity comes from the word diverse meaning different. Diversity is the difference in ideas, morals, cultures, lifestyles and goals. It is important because it helps us to identify the differences between us and to embrace them. Diversity is important because it can enhance the organization's responsiveness to a diverse world of customers, which can improve relations with the surrounding community and increase the organization's ability to cope with change, and expand the creativity of the organization. Diversity within a group can be an important advantage when it comes to getting things done. Within a group, there will always be people who are stronger in certain areas and weaker in other areas. Having a diverse group limits the areas of weakness when it pertains to certain tasks that need to be completed.
3. How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect team building?
Different factors within a group could go both ways, good or bad. Within every group the will arise problems. Things like attitude and work styles could cause problems. Some people may not agree with the way others in the group work and other people may disagree with the attitude of someone in the group. These things could possibly hinder the productivity of the group as a whole
4. Describe team members’ results on the Career Interest Profiler, and the Career Plan Building Activity-Competencies. What similarities and differences exist within the team?
I found that my strengths are in fallowing directions and organization. The result that I got may be directly related to my prior military experiences.
5. How can you use the knowledge gained in the Career Interest Profiler, and the Career Plan Building Activity-Competencies to improve the performance of the Learning Team?
The exercises could be used to understand the personalities of team members. They can be used to let the rest of the team know the goals of each team member, so that they might support and help each other reach the goals that are set in place.
6. What obstacles might arise from different ethical perspectives among team members?
Within every group there will be disagreements and misunderstandings. People with different ethnical perspective see and understand thing in different ways. Most people’s perspectives are based on how they are raised. Ethnic perspectives are molded by a number of things like religion, parents, where they are raised, and if they are rich or poor. When put in a situation where a choice of right or wrong all of these things are reflected on before a choice is made. And depending on the level of importance the things have to each person the choice is made.
7. How might these factors, diversity, attitude, learning and work styles, and ethical perspective be used to resolve conflicts?
Diversity can be used to help us better understand one another. Most people have already been in situations where they had to work with or in diverse groups. These experiences are used every day to resolve conflict or even prevent conflict from arising.
