Proposal for a Cloud Application to Be Implemented at Telecom Brokerage Inc.
IS535: Managerial Applications of Information Technology Introduction
The organization that will be the topic of discussion within this paper is Telecom Brokerage, Inc. (TBI) TBI was birthed in 1991 by its President & CEO, Geoff Shepstone. TBI is a privately owned Telecommunications Master Agency. What makes TBI a master agency? As a master agency TBI has contracts to sell over fifty major telecommunication companies products and services and obtains higher commission rates from the providers due to the high volume of sales submitted. To explain it even simpler, TBI is the second largest distributor of telecommunication solutions in the United States. Their corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, Illinois. Additional locations are in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Phoenix, Arizona. They also have contracted outside sales agents nationwide. To better understand how TBI works, let’s take a quick look at how their organization is structured.
TBI is best explained as a central hub. They have the capability to sell telecom hardware and services from over fifty different providers. TBI sells B2B only and sells to any size business, from mom and pop shops to fortune 500 companies with locations nationwide. The direct sales department handles the sales of phone systems, T-1 lines and high capacity products and services. Outside agents that are located across the United States report to this department. Outside agents consist of independent telecom consultants and smaller telecom brokerage companies. Agents benefit from putting their orders through TBI by receiving higher commissions than if they worked directly with the provider. The contract’s TBI has with providers has built in a higher commission rate due to the volume of sales submitted.
