Many people say that Gallipoli is the battle that determined the ANZAC legend and also Australia’s identity. However there were many other battles in world war 1 that determined ANZACs legend. One of these battles was the Light Horse Brigade charge of Beersheba in 1917. This battle helped open up supplies lines and was also a strong point for the Australians, it is also a determine ship of ANZAC strength as Beersheba was attacked by the British multiple times and the Light horse succeeded. Beersheba was also called the Forgotten battle because not many people know it.

Background of Horses and Men
• Many of the light horse men were bush man with experience and had special connections with their horses all of the horses were from Australia many of which were brumbies which they caught. Horses could go days without water so they were efficient in the march towards Beersheba. By the time the light horse reached Beersheba they needed to capture it soon as it had multiple supplies of water and the horses wouldn’t be able to go much longer without water. The wells of Beersheba were vital for the welfare of the Desert Mounted Corps’ horses, many of whom had been without water for several days.
