The Wolf’s Side Of The Story Once Upon a Time, I was making a birthday cake for my dear old granny. I had a terrible cough, well really a sneezing cold. I ran out of sugar. So I walked down the road to ask my neighbors for a cup of sugar. Now my neighbors weren’t your typical neighbors, my neighbors were pigs. My first neighbor wasn’t smart. He built his whole house out of straw. Who would build a house of straw? So of course me being the strong body person that I am, the minute I knocked on the door, it fell right in. I didn't want to walk right into his house. So I yelled, "Mr. Pig, Mr. Pig, are you in?" I didn’t get an answer. I was just about to go home without the cup of sugar for my dear old granny's birthday cake. That's when my nose and my throat started to itch. I felt a sneeze coming on. Well I huffed. And I snuffed. And I sneezed a powerful sneeze. And you know what? In the blink of an eye the whole straw house fell down. And right in the middle of the pile of straw was the First Little Pig – dead! He had been home the whole time. It was a perfectly good ham dinner lying there in the straw. So I ate it up. Think of it as a cheeseburger just lying there. I was feeling a little better. But I still didn't have my cup of sugar. So I went to the next neighbor's house. This neighbor was the First Little Pig's cousin. He was slightly smarter, but not much. He built his house of sticks. I rang the bell on the stick house. Nobody answered. I yelled, "Mr. Pig, Mr. Pig, are you in?" He yelled back. “Go away Mr. wolf. You can't come in. I'm shaving the hairs on my skinny chin chin." I had just grabbed the doorknob when I felt another sneeze coming on. I huffed. And I snuffed. And I tried to cover my mouth, but I sneezed right towards the sticks. And you are not going to believe this, but the guy's house fell down just like his cousin's. When the smoke cleared, there was the Second Little Pig – dead! We all know food will spoil if you just leave it out in the open. So I did the only thing there was to do. I had dinner again. Think of it as a second plate from Golden Corral. I was getting full. But my cold was feeling a little better. And I still didn't have that cup of sugar for the cake I was trying to make for my dear old granny. So I went to the next house. This guy was the First and Second Little Pig's uncle. He must have been the brains of the family. He was smart enough to build his house out of bricks. I knocked on the brick house. No answer. I called, "Mr. Pig, Mr. Pig, are you in?" And do you know what that rude little pig screamed? "Get out of here, Wolf. Don't bother me again."
Talk about disrespectful! all I wanted was some sugar. He probably had a whole sack full of sugar. And he wouldn't give me even one little cup for my dear sweet old granny's birthday cake. I was just about to turn around and walk home miserable because I didn’t have any sugar, when I felt my sneeze coming on. I huffed and I snuffed. And I sneezed once again. Then the Third Little Pig yelled, " And your old granny can sit on my pins!" Now I'm usually a pretty calm type of wolf. But when somebody talks about my granny like that, I get a little crazy. When the cops drove up, of course I was trying to break down this Pig's door. And the whole time I was just huffing and puffing and sneezing.

The Wolf and Dog

...the gray wolf and renamed “canis lupus familiaris.”While it is true that there have been speculations that dogs may have descended from several species of canines, the wolf appears to ultimately be the ancestor of man’s best friend. The dog and wolf both share the same number of chromosomes (78, arranged in 39 pairs). The dog and the wolf can mate and give life to offspring. There are good chances indeed, that in the past the two species may have interbred, whether because of feral dogs may have escaped from being domesticated or because some wolves may have separated from their pack and started looking for a soul mate. At the same time, the outward appearance of wolves and dogs is markedly different. The wolf’s skeleton is higher and has a more arched spine. The wolf’s legs are heavier in build and are usually longer. Dogs and wolves run differently. A dog runs with a loping, almost casual gait, while wolves run in a springing motion with force from the hind legs propelling them forward. One main difference between the wolf and the dog is the mating; a dog can come into heat twice a year while the wolf comes into heat only once a year, usually in the spring. This might be to allow ample time for the pups to grow and flourish before the winter season comes. There is one exception: the Bensenji dog breed comes into heat only once a year. Physically, wolves and dogs today appear as almost different species, if we think about the diversity in dogs we...

Fairy-Tale Rewrite

...scarier was the wolf following there every move. After going through all six of the houses, the last stop was the maze. Everyone knows that when it comes to the maze you and your group of friends are on your own. So they each got a map and tried to find their own way out, while still not noticing that the wolf was behind them. Scared as they already were, the wolf tried to snatch Red, but failed when her friend tugged on her arm to tell her, “RED, Hurry up! Let’s get outta here!” “Okay, I’m coming,” Red replied. A couple minutes went by and the group still couldn’t find a way out. But the wolf used that to his advantage. He put up a barrier so that the group couldn’t leave and so he could catch Princess Red one last time. Falling into the wolf’s trap, they were stuck in somewhat of a closed area with only one way out. As they turned around, the wolf was standing at the entrance. Princess Red and the group were startled and asked the wolf how to get out of there. Being the scary wolf that he was, he tried to grab Princess Red again, but failed a second time as she ducked and ran to the exit, leaving her blazing red cardigan behind. The wolf then picked it up and ran after the group to try and beat them to their car. Luckily they got to it just before the wolf could reach them. As...

Analysis and Interpretation of the Company of Wolves

...Analysis and interpretation of “The Company of Wolves” The Company of Wolves is an interesting rewriting of LRRH* and a female author’s slightly feministic interpretation of an old classic. You can see that the story is a rewriting of “LRRH” because there are a lot of similarities. For example in both stories we have a little girl walking through a forest to give her grandmother a basket of dainties . Besides that we also have the classic sentences: “What big eyes you have”, “What big arms you have” and “What big teeth you have”. The story is a rewriting so of course there are also differences like that we don’t have a heroic hunter who comes and saves the grandmother and the girl and the wolf’s genitals is described in a way so the story might not be the best bedside reading. The girl is about twelve years old (p. 22: “she has just started her woman’s bleeding”), has flaxen hair and wears a red shawl. She is a latecomer and has been so indulged that she does not know about the dangerous world she lives in (p. 22: “in this savage country”, p. 23: “she is afraid of nothing”). She is described as very innocent: Pretty, pale, fair hair like lint and virginity (p. 22). The hunter part of the wolf is described as: “a handsome one” and “a fine fellow” (p. 23). Besides that the author describes him as gallant since he offers her to carry her basket. He is a real gentleman. The wolf part of the wolf is on the other hand described as: “a beast of...

Pieces such as “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker, “An Indian Father’s Plea” by Robert Lake, and “Legal Alien” by Pat Mora, can be used to argue more than one of these views. These pieces show how culture constantly influences one and their view of the world. Some may believe that culture that culture rarely informs how we view the world and others. This can be argued using examples from Alice Walker’s short story “Everyday Use” in which two sisters “Dee” and “Maggie” who once shared a culture now see the world very differently. According to Dee, Maggie is “‘backward enough to put them to...

A Personal Fanfic

...Story of a Farm Boy Roairna Drakuthaili Elrondion was originally just Roairna. He never needed to use his last name, his parents never said anything about it. A boy, naturally compatible with the wolves and able to stray them from the village and treat them as people. He cared for all animals, normally being the one to take care of the horses and chicks about their home. As unmentioned as he was, he did much to influence the lives of the Heroes that protected the Ring and saved Middle Earth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Roa was cheerfully unaware of a darkness approaching, of an evil that was to be unstopped for long years to come. "Mama! Papa! I'm going to get more feed for the chickens!" He called, his hyper eight-year-old self smiling happily. "Alright, Roa. Don't get so much like last time! Just enough for now sweetheart." His mother called from inside as she cooked. "The wagon's down, Roairna. You'll have to walk. Be wary of the roads, my boy." His father sighed, leaning on his staff that he used as a walking stick. "Yes mama, okay papa! I'll be back quick!" He chirped as he gave his dad a hug and ran off. Unknown to him, things weren't going to stay cheerful... He continued happily down the road, two of his wolf companions bounding after him obediently with happy yips and barks. They remained blissfully oblivious until a terrifying screech startled them. Roa screamed, ducking into a bush just as a Nazgul came riding down the road. It hissed, the...

“the Role of Women in the Gothic Genre Is as Victims, Always Subject to Male Authority.” by Comparing the Presentation of Women in Your Three Chosen Texts, Say How Far You Would Agree with This View.”

...“The role of women in the gothic genre is as victims, always subject to male authority.” By comparing the presentation of women in your three chosen texts, say how far you would agree with this view.” Women are central to the narrative of Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber, Bram Stoker’s Dracula and within Christina Rossetti’s poetry. All three texts were written during significant times in history: Rossetti and Stoker’s works during the infamous reign of Queen Victoria, and Carter’s collection during the year Margaret Thatcher became the first female prime minister of Britain. As a genre, the gothic is often regarded as being dominated by men, with women featuring in the role of victim subject to patriarchy. Many early gothic texts feature women in the role of victim under the authority of predatory men, perhaps most notably in Horace Walpole’s The Castle of Otranto and Matthew Lewis’ The Monk. However, Stoker, Rossetti and Carter all at times break with this convention by characterising some of their females as strong, independent and liberated. As writers, they experiment with the characteristic features of the gothic genre, particularly Carter and Rossetti who challenge the traditional conceptions by presenting many of their female characters in dominant, authoritative roles which break convention. There are occasions in all three texts when the passivity traditionally associated with femininity in the gothic genre can be perceived to be a direct result of oppression...

His testimony is transcribed below: "Everybody knows the story of the Three Little Pigs. Or at least they think they do. But I'll let you in on a little secret. Nobody knows the real story, because nobody has ever heard my side of the story. I'm Alexander T. Wolf. You can call me Al. The Three Little Pigs Paraphrased

...the story of the Three Little Pigs is the wolf, who is unable to be satisfied by his cravings and who must continue in his endless search for meaning. The story seems to portray the wolf as an imposing figure that is unconquerable by the pigs; however, in the end the wit of the third pig does indeed conquer the wolf. The wolf, in a typical role of preying on the weak, is able to blow down the houses of the first two pigs, but the third pig’s business nature and sturdy home hinders the wolf. The cycle is supposed to be a reverse full circle, with the pigs now being at the top of the food chain and in a sense, will retain the revolutionary spirit that had once been contained within the wolf, but was then passed on to the pig. All four of these stories provide their own perceptive insights into the classic tale, and shows how one story can provide four different viewpoints that are each unique and each worthy of expansion into their own universes. The Three Little Pigs This paper studies the different levels of perceived cunning between the wolf and the pig, using several examples to determine each animal’s resourcefulness. The stories of the Three Little Pigs have a single and commonly understood plot and the moral of the tale shows how productiveness and tenacity pay off in the end. The twist in these four stories is that each of the four versions has a modern twist on the plot that radically changes one’s own understanding of the original story. The first story, by...

Hitlers Personal Security

...Hitler’s Personal Protection Strategies Adolf Hitler led with violence, aggression, manipulation, and military strategy, and because of that he became a target of assassination. This developed into an acute paranoia, which led Hitler to implement some of the most brilliant security strategies seen to date. Before an understanding of the reasoning behind the assassination attempts can be deduced, an accurate depiction of Hitler’s early rise to power is necessary. Adolf Hitler was born in Austria on 20 April, 1889. Being the son of a poor young cottager, Hitler was never satisfied with his stature in life. He fled to Germany to avoid being arrested for dodging military service in Austria. This did not define him, as he went on to serve in the German Army during World War I and was wounded twice. He received several medals, and maybe more important, found a direction in life in which he had been searching. World War I left Germany in a state of unease. The sanctions placed on the country left it almost financially crippled. Hitler used this vulnerability to come in and take the nation by storm. This, coupled with his determined necessity to completely rule Germany, was a recipe for disaster. It wasn’t long before Adolf Hitler became a party leader, and from the very beginning he needed, at least some form, of protection. Hitler emerged as not only a politician, but the leader of the most hostile and violent political party in the country. Adolf Hitler’s...

Mary was a witch, and the couple enjoyed their time dominating the edges of the kingdom, in the open lands. The couple bought a crop of land to the north of the dark mountains. They built a comfortable home as Mary was pregnant and winter was on the horizon. While the couple ventured toward their home from the kingdom, they passed through many villages. They heard stories of the ghost wolves who had once ruled the lands. These accounts enthralled Mary. “Do you think the stories could be true?” Mary once asked Jack as they neared their home on the edge of the lands. Jack gave her a look, “You really believe those strange fantasies that the colonists tell each other to make their village seem less boring? They’re exactly what...

Concept Application Paper

...communications concepts that I am going to apply on Pulp Fiction movie. Each section will explain the communications concept and how it appears in the movie. The reason why I chose this movie is just simple. It is a classic movie released in 1994, written by my favorite director and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino who has a little role in this movie as well. The story of the movie is divided in seven narrative sequences and in order the reader of this paper to understand, it is necessary to see the movie. 1. Nonverbal behaviors of Kinesics, Haptics, Physical Appearance, and Artifacts Kinesics, Haptics, Physical Appearance, and Artifacts are types of nonverbal behaviors. Kinesics refers to body position and body motions, including those of the face (Wood, 2011, p. 100). Body postures and gestures may say whether we are open to interaction. Haptics is a term for nonverbal communication involving physical touch (Wood, 2011, p. 101). Applying this to the movie, there is a scene when Jules has a conversation with Vincent about a foot massage. They argue about meaning and importance of physical touch of women’s feet. The story is about when Tony Rocky Horror was thrown out of the window after he gave a foot massage to Marcellus Wallace’s wife. Physical appearance is how we look like and how we present ourselves on public. Western culture places extremely high value on physical appearance and on specific aspects of appearance (Wood, 2011, p. 101). Like Jules and Vincent, they always...
