The Wrecking Crew Analysis

Used to violence and war as they may be, Forge, or Gunns, as he prefers to be called after the prologue, and his men, the Wrecking Crew, encounter a grisly scene in a cave on one of their missions: a bat demon eating alive and undead humans. This changes the course of these soldier's lives, leading them from straight-laced soldiers to mercenaries for hire after they get dishonorably discharged. The touch of supernatural sets The Wall by Some Guy apart from others of its kind.

Trigger warnings include violence, torture, and death. For the most part, descriptions for these are vivid, so if you don't like these things, you've been warned.

The prologue is very good at giving a taste of what is to come, as well as setting the tone of the story. …show more content…
The line about Bananas' receding hairline is comedy gold. While Gunns is clearly the main character, I would have loved to learn more about the rest of the Wrecking Crew. Maybe in a future installment, and not in the format of the epilogue. The epilogue reads more like a cast of characters instead of an actual epilogue.

The description of what happened inside the cave was explicitly delicious to my mind's eye. The author delivers a gritty scene, but don't fret. Delicate, emotional situations are handled with excellent care as well. The scene where Gunns interrogates a dying man in particular will tug on your heartstrings. The main character's innate goodness shines through, even as he does dishonorable things.

The images scattered along the book are A+ and brilliant in the ways they portray the corresponding scenes. Descriptions of places are a delight, even if the place being described is not pleasant at all. Action scenes are on point and absolutely thrilling. The crew's employment under the president is satisfactorily detailed, and it really hammers down the idea that these men, with Gunns at the helm, are being slowly buried under the filth of their employer. It's a good setup for a redemption

...HARLEY-DAVIDSON Marketing Plan Prepared by Mehmet Okan Dicle Cem Karahasanoğlu Submitted to Asst. Prof. Zehra Bozbay Submission Date 26.12.2012 Brief History of Harley-Davidson 1903 in Milwaukee. Bill Harley and Arthur Walter Davidson designed and developed a one-cylinder motorcycle. Around the turn of the century the gasoline engine was developed and the one-cylinder motor was introduced. In 1901 the Indians were the first motorcycles and in 1903 Mitschell, Merkel and Yale. This motorcycle was initially built for racing and was powered by a one-cylinder gasoline combustion engine. So their one-cylinder motorcycle was complete; it was reliable and beautiful in looks. In 1905, 11 cycles in total had been made. 154 by 1908.. by this time they had an official company, in a small wooden barn which was Davidson's father's. Although the company was small, it grew quickly, pulling in William; another member of the Davidson family to help. Pretty soon they had over 20 employees working for them. They even upgraded to a purpose-built stone factory. In 1909, Bill Harley started on the first 1000cc V-Twin. Producing a modest 7 horsepower; the 45-degree V-Twin would become one of the most iconic symbols of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The V-Twin stayed with Harley for a long time, and although its one of the most recognizable images of Harley-Davidson motorcycles; it wasn't actually invented by Bill Harley.. he was just following everyone else, at the time, V-Twin motors...

Nelson, 1979 The Migration of the Indians to the New World. It is believed that the people who Columbus saw when he came to the New World were nomadic hunters from central and East Asia who followed the buffalo and deer. When the herds moved, people moved after them because they were dependent on the animals for food. It is therefore suspected that the herds led the people out of Asia by the north-east, across the Bering Strait and into North America. They crossed the sea by an ice –bridge when it was frozen over during the last Ice-Age. They did not know that they were crossing water from one continent to another. Map 1 Amerindians migration from central Asia into North America. The Amerindians settled throughout North America and were the ancestors of the many Red Indian tribes we know today, as well as the Eskimos in the far north. In general, they were nomadic but some followed settled agricultural pursuits and developed civilizations of their own like the Mayas in South America (check internet reference for profile on this group, focus on...

Line-Item Budgeting and Film Production – Exploring Some Benefits of Constraints on Creativity and Aesthetic Value Creation

...2011 Line-item budgeting and film production – Exploring some benefits of constraints on creativity and aesthetic value creation Thomas Frandsen, Ivar Friis, and Allan Hansen*) Solbjerg Plads 3 2000 Frederiksberg Copenhagen Business School Denmark *) Corresponding author: ah.om@cbs.dk Early work – Please do not quote without the permission from the authors Paper to be presented at the workshop on Creativity and Control Sponsored by Accounting Organizations and Society 4–5 April 2011, Barcelona, Spain Abstract: This paper explores the role of budgeting in the Danish film industry and seeks to illustrate the positive effects a line-budget might have on the creativity and innovativeness in film production. In our analysis we provide illustrative examples of the enabling and facilitating role of budget constraints on film production from the Danish film industry in general as well as from a case study of the process of making the Danish film “The Island of Lost Souls” in particular. We draw on Elster (2000)’s constraint theory and suggest that the constraints imposed on agents by line-item budgeting under some circumstances lead to situations where ‘less is more’ as line-item budgeting might be used to focus creative behavior as well as pre-commit the agent against passion and time inconsistency. 1 I. Introduction The dysfunctional consequences of constraints imposed by budgets on agents dealing with uncertain, complex or dynamic organizational...

Detroit Timber & Lumber Co., 200 U. S. 321, 337. SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES Syllabus SKILLING v. UNITED STATES CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT OF APPEALS FOR THE FIFTH CIRCUIT No. 08–1394. Argued March 1, 2010—Decided June 24, 2010 Founded in 1985, Enron Corporation grew from its headquarters in Houston, Texas, into the seventh highest-revenue-grossing company in America. Petitioner Jeffrey Skilling, a longtime Enron officer, was Enron’s chief executive officer from February until August 2001, when he resigned. Less than four months later, Enron crashed into bankruptcy, and its stock plummeted in value. After an investigation uncovered an elaborate conspiracy to prop up Enron’s stock prices by overstating the company’s financial well-being, the Government prosecuted dozens of Enron employees who participated in the scheme. In time, the Government worked its way up the chain of command, indicting Skilling and two other top Enron executives. These three defendants, the indictment charged, engaged in a scheme to deceive investors about Enron’s true financial performance by...
