Introduction Perhaps human being is the most curious animal in the quest to dominate the world. Research or quest for gaining full knowledge of the dynamics of an entity is clear evidence that man is interested to fully utilize and dominate the world. Why else would someone make inquiries into something that will not be of help to them, and is already aware of it existence? Research is aimed at searching for a complete understanding of an existing entity known to man. However, every research conducted by man has been proved that there is no hope of doing perfect research (Griffiths, p97). I fully conclude with the observation of Griffiths. Martin Shuttleworth defines research as “… the definition of research includes any gathering of data, information and facts for the advancement of knowledge.” A perfect research would mean that the research with no doubt is a replica of the process and elements involved in the creation of an entity. Does the human being have the power to create replica of what they are not fully familiar? Research after research has been met with critic to explain errors, bias, faults and weakness of the research. If the research were perfect, there would be no existence of vocabulary such as random and systematic errors associated with quantitative and qualitative researches respectively. There are a multiple number of research that have had to be thrown to the dustbin, and some revised due to weakness and discovery of newer dimension and light in the entity that were being researched.
Example one (high speed trains) China has unveiled high speed trains (with the ability to move 500 km in just an hour) despite the high risk of natural disasters in china. It is with no doubt that a lot of money and time was spent on researching on such trains especially with risk factors in mind such as earthquakes. I believe that if the train collides or is affected by an earthquake, another research will be done to counter the problem of earthquake. Incase nature introduces another risk factor in the train path; another research (a third one) will be done to counter the problem and so forth. This is proving that there is no perfect research and a research cannot accommodate complete facts of an entity lifetime and its infinitive coexistence with unpredictable environment.
Example 2(Darwinian Theory on sex selection) Jonah Lehrer, on 6th Jun 2006, wrote an article about how Joan Roughgarden, a professor of biology at Stanford University, after some research challenged Darwin’s theory of evolution: sexual selection. Joan research was aimed at proving Darwin research wrong on the notion of perfect sex selection and the dynamics of sex selection. Joan work gives a deeper explanation of what takes place for same-sex attraction to occur. Darwin only concentrated on the human race to come up with his theory, but in Joan’s work, it goes further by tackling evident cases of homosexuality in other animals. According to the professor, Joan Roughgarden, the homosexuality theory is not fulfilling enough to cater for the evident behavior of homosexuality in other more than 450 documented animals. Roughgarden main aim is to replace the Darwinian version of sex selection with a new one that states that mating sole purpose is not for multiplying, but animals also express fun and to strengthen social bond by sex. Therefore, she disqualifies sex as an only pathway for breeding purpose. If not so, there would not be the so much witnessed cases of homosexuality in humans and other animals. The idea that homosexuals are a biological error is out of question for her. This is because there’s no possibility that nature can allow such an environmental error influence so many people and humans of different locality sexual orientation. Therefore, the only wrong thing for Roughgarden is Darwin’s theory and not the people and the documented cases of animal homosexuality.
Conclusion
Every research is susceptible to weaknesses over time and environmental change, especially if the research was done in a hurry. In modern times, researches are dictated by the amount of funding and awards attached to the outcome of the research. However, still, environmental and lifetime changes could affect and expose a research to weaknesses.
