Happiness: A State of Mind

What is happiness? I believe happiness is a state of my mind. I tried to observe myself when do I truly feel well? I realized when I am happy I feel well, even if I was physically ill or medically diagnosed as ill if I am very happy right now I would feel well. There are many ways to describe happiness only those who are happy know what it means to be happy and I believe there is no one who was not happy at some point of their life. Everybody was happy but the problem was maintaining it. I hear people say they are happy when things are going well or going their way, when something doesn’t go the way they expected then their happy feeling disappears.

I took some time and ponder over my mind’s chatter, I realized that much of the time my thoughts are driven or controlled by external circumstances. And I have also realized that when my reasons of being happy or unhappy depends on some external conditions then the happiness are not stable. Because I believe if that’s what my happiness depends upon, since people and circumstances cannot controlled on every event or moment of life, my happiness will always be in the hands of others. It would always be at the whim of my circumstances. Once I was greatly impressed by the following aphorism of Eleanor Roosevelt "Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission."

I believe to be happy a man needs to do two things, he needs to stop relaying on external events and circumstances for his happiness and his unhappiness. In other words he needs to stop associating his happiness to what’s going on externally and he needs to overcome holding others responsible for his unhappiness. I believe the more a man will depend upon or making the job of people or circumstances to make him happy or blame others for his suffering and unhappiness, his happiness or joyfulness will be short lived and unstable. The second duty is to actively try to acquire a source of peace and a source of happiness from within. As Buddhist ideas & beliefs says, “Without inner peace outer peace is impossible." So a peaceful state of mind will be happy regardless of people and circumstances. If mind is not peaceful or agitated then even if the circumstances are very much in his favor he will find it impossible to be happy. So in other words it’s not what is happening that is making him happy or unhappy it is how he is reacting to those things that determines whether he is happy or unhappy. It is what are the state of mind is like, that determines his happiness or unhappiness.

I believe in the existence of a power or wisdom far superior of my own, that one can rely upon to cultivate a stable peace of mind regardless of external events and circumstances. I do accept that there is an existence of a force far above and beyond the limited capability of my understanding. It is of little concern if this force is called “God” or a supreme being. However, it is of utmost importance not to lose contact with this supreme power but to ask for guidance and vision and to pray for knowledge and better understanding of greater awareness. If this can be achieved I believe I shall be at peace and to be at peace is happiness. This I believe.

Hunger Games Analysis

...The movie i chose was the Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is a movie about a collection of districts each being represented by individuals. The winner helps their district because after they win the government gives them food. In the end love comes to shock the districts and make a huge change. The chapter i choose to use first is,"....More Than Its Gonna Hurt You: Concerning violence." The Hunger Games is all about violence. To win the Hunger Games the chracters must kill each other until only one is left. As author Thomas Foster says in his book How To Read Literature Like A Professor, "Violence is one of the most personal and even intimate acts between human beings, but it can also be cultural and societal in its implications." I see this as saying even though a killing may just seem like a simple killing, it can mean so much more in literature. I beleive that symbolization in this story is, what people will do to survive, including putting all morals behind. Foster also describes how violence is not only a physical act but how it can be a "narrative violence". He describes how narrative violence is the violence an author uses to help him further the plot. He says it is the violence of the author and not the characters. For example when Rue dies, this is used to further show not only the emotion and love Katnis shows, but to also show the violence and aggresion that the other chracters show. But when the boy from district ten dies, no one knows how. All this does is move...

Dna and Rna

...form a triple-stranded structure. This molecule can attach itself to a gene, and either prevent the RNA polymerase from transcribing the gene, or promote transcription by exposing some of the single-stranded DNA to transcription-initiating enzymes. This action can be very useful as a gene therapy in patients who are producing too much, or not enough of a certain protein. Another prospect of this mysterious molecule is the creation of artificial life. All of the organisms on earth are based on DNA and RNA, so the idea of creating life with only PNA is very intriguing to scientists. The major problem with this idea is that because the PNA is so stable, it is very difficult for it to split into two daughter strands. In reading this article, I learned that DNA and RNA are not the only existing nucleic acids. They are the only natural ones, but many more synthetic/artificial nucleic acids have been discovered, including PNA. I think that the implementation of PNA into drugs that regulate gene expression will be a major advancement in the field of molecular genetics. This molecule has the potential to regulate the symptoms of many genetic diseases, a huge step forward in the lives of those affected by genetic diseases. The one ethical issue surrounding PNA is the use of this molecule to create artificial life. The results of such an experiment are anyone's guess, and even though an outcome is still very far in the distance, there are those who beleive humans are not supposed to be playing...

Core Human Resource Functions" Please respond to the following: •Determine how you might reduce involuntary turnover if you were the top human resource manager. As a top human reasource manger I would reduce involuntary turnover by haveing the manager of each team send individauls with "poor job performace and/ or unethical behaviors" to a one week training where they get a second chance and motivation to do the best they can(Boone, 265). If the employee does well then they get to move to a differnt team where they get a fresh start or remain on the same team. The one week training allows employees to see a new start where they have the chance to succed again. If the employee does not do well then they will be terminated. •Recommend two ways to control compensation costs that do not decrease employee motivation or productivity. To control compensation cost that do not decrease employee motivation or productivity I would look into two methods. One would be to have monthly reviews of the team and give the team that proformed the best that month a day off. The second would be to give the team a LTE instead of a yearly bonus. The LTE would be 2/3 payment of the 1.5 years. This means that instead of getting a bonus every year you get a bonus every year and a half. The value of the bonus would be 2/3 of your yearly bonus(2/3...

Our leaders beleive that life on our planet was a result of natural phenomena and evolution. I will be looking for a similar belief in higher power on earth. ...I beleive that one of the failures that might come with any project team is a lack of good communication. This type issue could arrise where team members are scareterd all over the world without face to face communication. The communication through the internet, skype or some of the other communication technologies that are now available are sometimes not reliable and could cause miscommunication. what about one of the team members performing one of the tasks without informing the other team members about it. From the perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to the systematic improvement. A customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer has of the organization. Some had argued that the quality and level of customer service has decreased in recent years, and that this can be attributed to a lack of support or understanding at the executive and middle management levels of a corporation and/or a customer service policy. Washington Redskins: Should They Change Their Name?

...I think the washington Redskins should change their name because it is offensive, the name has been a hot topic for quite some time, and they could easily change the name to something else. Redskins is a term used by europeans when they first came to the new world. The word was used a reference to the indians darker sometimes reddish tinted skin. The Redskins team name didn't just become a hot topic it's been a hot topic for 31 years. Since 1972 people have been saying how offensive the name is to the native americans. The Redskins may lose the rights to their mascot, and will not have any new stadiums built for the team until the name is changed. Other teams have also changed their names, and it has not change how the fans see them or their profit from the games. The Redskins should change their name because it is the right thing to do if native american beleive the name of a team that represents them should be changed then who are we to say no. “Redskins can't possibly honor a heritage or noble character trait, nor can it possibly be considered a neutral term. Just the lyrics and melody took me to another place . Ever since then, music has been a huge part of my life. I listen to everything from 2Pac , Nas , Lil Wayne and Jay Z (Rap) Aaliyah, RKelly, Mary J Blige and Alicia Keyz (R&B) The Police, Metallica, AC/DC, Journey and U2 ( Pop/Rock) and my favorite Oldies from The Gap Band, Chacka Khan, The O'Jays, Aretha Franklin, The Chi-Lites, The Spinners oh' sheesh' the list goes on.
