...There are many things on this world that i have a problem with that i can deal with and just brush off like a bug on your shoulder , but i have one thing that i disagree on more than anything in this world!, and that's the testing of students in ohio to that determines your future. I feel that it is unfair to some students because they may great performance in class but are not good test takers. Honestly i feel that you shouldn’t be held accountable for the test just to graduate and i’ll tell you why. As i said earlier some students may have the best performance in class ,but struggles when it comes to testing which is a problem with many students. This one minor set back can ruin someone's entire life if they planned on graduating and walking the stage just because they can’t pass one or two tests. There are many people that couldn’t...

...Just imagine. You’re sitting at your school desk. You're staring a a huge packet of white paper, filled with unanswered questions. You hear the clock ticking. It feels like it's mocking you, making your feel stupid for taking your time to thoroughly read the question, and carefully choose an answer. “10 minutes!” your teacher announces. You still have yet to answer a few more questions, and write an open ended response. You feel trapped. It's like the walls are caving in on you. Your face is getting hot, you palms are sweaty, your heart is pounding. You're stuck. This is what we put our students through when we make them take standardized tests. Standardized testing should be stopped in schools. We should do this because, teachers are just...

You should be, that is the way that the animals are treated during animal experimentation. Scientists are wasting countless lives of animals to cruel experiments that should never have been done. First of all most animal tests are not needed and are done in poor fashion. According to the article “Animal Welfare”, “First the test that was done...was for products that had already been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Most of those completion points being at least 3 points and no more and luckily no less. The most that is done is that the teacher just goes over it and looks through it and make sure there is something done. During my middle and high school years, it got to the point where some of my friends would say “Oh, just...

Jasmine Caldwell 11/16/2014 Jasmine Caldwell 11/16/2014 PSY 101 Personality & Intelligence Paper * Personality Test The personality test that I had taken was called “Leverage Your Personality Type”. From the beginning, I did not approve of this website being valid, just based upon looks and as the old saying says “don’t judge a book by its cover”. As the test came to a close it gave me a type of ISFP: Introvert (11%), Sensing (12%), Feeling (25%), and Perceiving (11%). Including those results, it also said that I have a slight preference of Introversion over Extraversion, Sensing over Intuition, Perceiving over Judging and a moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking. The second time I took the test it gave me different results. INFJ: Intorvert (22%), Intuitive (12%). Feeling (38%), and Judging (1%). (Personality Test) * Introversion over Extraversion Introversion: The state of or tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one’s own mental life. Extroversion: A behavior where someone enjoys being around people more than being alone. This is the first point of where I believe this test is...

...Learning. Does anyone really want to do it , or is it just something one must do regardless of how one may feel? When does learning actually begin, at birth, in the teen years or is it even a stage at all, does it ever even end. Regardless of what thoughts you may have, we all go to school and are told to sit and absorb what is being presented. If children are really learning is the question and they give multiple tests for proof. Should we be determined based on our grades?. Does passing children with high scores really prove that they’ll do better in life or have a bigger home? Paul Tough author of “How Children Succeed”feels so.He collected series of data showing tests that prove that his statements can be true.Predictably, the kids who did do better on the cognitive-skills tests were making more money later on in their lives.Carmen Segal conducted a series of experiments in 2006, One pool was from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth(NLSY). Segal noticed that participants who didn't graduate from college were “ Every bit as reliable a predictor of their adult wages as their cognitive-test scores. This shows us that the applicants who took the test and scored high made it farther in life and receiving better pay. Even though the stated applicants didn’t attend college, their IQ scores were still high and it showed that they were motivated. We can see this because half of the applicants who scored high took the test as practice, not towards their grade. They put their...

...2001 into a law. This law was designed to help students who otherwise may be considered to be disadvantaged. This act requires states and schools to develop testing standards in the basic skills that a child needs to succeed in school. These tests will help determine where a child may be struggling and requires more help in such areas. These tests are only done to certain grade levels throughout their years in school. This is not done every year to every grade. Children are tested annually in reading and math, a test in science during each type of schooling (elementary, middle, and high schools), and each school must have a group of 4th and 8th graders take a national assessment. The national assessment helps determine where the schools rank against other schools in the nation. (Seldman, 2011) For states to qualify for federal funding from the government, they must give these tests to children. There is no specific standard that each child must meet at a national level. Each state develops their own set of requirements that a child must meet. This act tries to make states be more responsible in providing good education for the children. The No Child Left Behind act has a lot of pros and cons that has come along with it. One of the bigger pros of this act would be that schools and teachers now have a higher level of accountability for their student’s education. Schools have their own set of accountability that they are held to. They have to pass yearly tests that show how the...

...will associate homework with punishment. This may interest you. Harris Cooper (1998) analyzed more than 100 research studies on homework in American schools. He found that homework had a very small connection with test scores at the elementary level. If anything, the more homework an elementary school student had, the more negative their attitude was toward school. Plus it takes away from their social time, which is an important part of growing up. Kids need to learn social skills. Too much homework causes stress, as you probably know very well by now. Kids need to have down time too! Why does homework have such a small effect at the elementary level? One reason is that young children have limited attention spans and are very distractible. It is difficult to do homework in a house that has many distractions. Teachers need to work with parents and help students find a quiet space to do homework. Most professional organization in education agrees that homework should never exceed 10 - 20 minutes per day in grades K - 2. In grades 3 - 6 homework should never exceed 30 - 60 minutes per day. Another reason elementary school children do not benefit much from homework is because these children tend not to have good study skills. They memorize information without understanding it. They put the same effort into studying difficult and easy material. They believe if something sounds familiar, they must know it. They do not know how to do self-tests. Teachers should show these students how...

...for a big test? From personal experience I can tell you that it is not something you want to experience yourself. I have encountered this a few times throughout school. I can tell you a few things I was able to do to prepare, the reasons I did not get to prepare as much as I wanted, taking the test, and things that happened after I completed the test. Hopefully you will learn from my mistakes. Some of the things I was able to do to prepare was go over it in class, make a foldable, and look over my notes right before I took the test. Just by going over the material in class, I was not fully paying attention. When I made my foldable, I copied off of someone’s so I could finish mine. Right before the test I just glanced over my notes. Those three preparation techniques are not recommended. The reasons I did not get to prepare as well as I wanted were because I was out of school with the flu. Therefore one of my friends William let me barrow his foldable, so I just copied it. While taking the test, I soon found out how unprepared I really was. Another thing that I found out was study only the night before a test isn’t a good idea. The reason for that is that you will not remember everything you tried to cram in your brain the night before. Whenever I got my test I completely froze up and couldn’t remember a thing on it. I would say I learned the hard way. After taking that test, I knew right when I turned it in that I was going to fail it. I dreaded getting the test back. When...

...Money vs. True Value of Education Raeshelle Allen September 8,, 2012 As a child growing up doing well in school was never an option. The only this I had to do was go to school and make good grades. Now that I think about it school was my job and my paycheck was the knowledge I was gaining. This generation now-a-days have the idea that they should be rewarded finically for doing well. Students should not offered finical incentives to do well on standardize test in school. Schools should not give into to paying students for their performance. It is understood that in order to keep a school in good academic standings you have to make sure students do well on the standardized test. The test scores not only reflect the school but also represent each student as an individual. So you can see why it is important for students to do well but should that really mean at all cost. For many years teachers have been teaching the material for the long term knowledge now it seems as if they are just beginning to teach just for testing. There are some major disadvantages when trying to offer students financial incentives to do well on standardized test. Education should be viewed as a privilege. Many students take educations for granted. Not knowing that in some countries education is still not free let along for all males and females. You even have some certain types of schools here in the USA that you have to pay for high school education. I would think since students know that one day...

...one’s personalities. Studies such as, DiSC Assessment, Real Myers-Briggs test, Jung Topology Test, and many more will give an personality assessment to help built character or just simply evaluate an individual characteristic. Jung Topology Test seemed to be fairly easy with its question but, the test seemed to be a little lengthily. These question were not long they just kept asking the same questions in roundabout way. When answering the questions there wore choices with the same answer but there were only two choices so it seemed as if the questions were tricky. Questions should be clear and cut straight so that there is no misunderstanding in the statement that it provides. Jung Topology Test judges a person in four stages and they are extravert, intuitive, thinking, and judging. This test show the percentage of how low or how high the participant is in each stage and then gives knowable information so that they will be able to judge and see if the personality fits their character. Jung topology Test also tells what career the personality type fit; it also has a test for marriage, and it even help build your career development (Kim Komando, 2013). Jung Topology Test seems to give a pretty accurate test some of the percentages are a little low and some are too high in some area. It comes very close to a person personality and even though the questions seem tricky and in a roundabout way it is a good test. The first result explains an extraverted thinking as; "Unequivocating"...
