A California man by the name of Timothy Desmond is suing the State of California for refusing to let him display his painting at a state-run fair last year. Desmond's painting is titled "The Attack", and shows a soldier carrying a Confederate flag. Mr. Desmond received a complaint from California Attorney General Kamala Harris's office, who made a legal determination that the painting violated a state law. This law bans the states from selling or displaying images of the Battle flag of the Confederacy unless in a state museum or book which serves an educational and historical purpose.
