...ATTENTION CDA TRAINERS: Use this monthly training tool to help you plan group training sessions for your CDA candidates. These sessions can be counted as seminar training hours. Training Module* Listening Comprehension PURPOSE To explore the meaning and importance of listening comprehension as it relates to young children ages two to five. DEFINITION Before we begin, let’s take a minute to discuss the term listening comprehension. This skill can be observed when you read to the children. Listening comprehension can be defined as “the ability to recall and understand information which is presented orally.” This information might be presented through a book, filmstrip, video, or felt board set. EXAMPLES Mr. Fields, the preschool teacher, is reading the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears to the children. After he finishes reading, Mr. Fields asks the children, “How many bears lived in the house?” Rosie shrugs her shoulders and looks confused, but Jeremy exclaims, “Three!” Mr. Fields says, “That’s right, Jeremy. There were three bears in the story. Let’s count them together.” Mr. Fields turns the pages of the book until he comes to an illustration that contains the three bears. The children and Mr. Fields count the bears together. Mr. Fields then asks, “How did the bears know that someone had been eating their porridge?” Albert responds, “Because Baby Bear’s bowl was empty.” Jeremy says, “Because someone told them.” Mr. Fields then uses the book to help the children discover...

...how each effects the critical thinking process Logical Creative Optimistic Creative and logical-- Critical thinking and decision making is the process to find the truth. An important aspect of thinking is the process that relies on the ability to coordinate and structure our ideas so that they make sense. Training our mind to use the critical thinking process gives people a better understanding of the information. This paper will discuss the three different thinking styles. It will also compare and contrast logical style, persuasive style, and creative style. Critical thinking will be applied to the decision making process by using work environment examples. The logical style of thinking is a complex process in which reasoning is used to come to a conclusion. This style involves a sequence of steps or thoughts used to solve a problem. According to Kirby and Goodpaster (2007), along with creative thought, inductive and deductive logic comprise the bedrock and substance of all our thinking. Using the two major elements of logical thinking, deductive and inductive reasoning, solutions can be tested with tried and true methods. This style is very distinct and follows a more structured and analytical path using proven methods in order to reach the conclusions. When comparing logical thinking to the creative and persuasive styles of thinking, all three require detailed processes to reach conclusions. With the creative style, the conclusions are inspired by the ideas that can...

...requires planning and time; from completing your portfolio, writing papers, to doing a product and visual. Your topic might be a common subject but it is your job to make it seem as if your judges know nothing about it, that is when you have to use your creative side. My journey was mind-opening and showed me the importance of time management and organization. Time is everything. If you do not give yourself time to complete everything, in the end you will feel suffocated and will panic when the due date comes. I had this problem when trying to figure out what my product would be. I had the option to go to shelters and take pictures of their dogs to then make brochures for people that were going to adopt to look at, or I could make dog training collars to give to shelters and when a dog was adopted they adopters would receive a free training collar. I finally decided to do the second option, but I decided when the due date for the 15 hours was 19 days away. Stress began to build, and with other classes to worry about I was in overdrive, from trying to find time to do 15 hours to completing other classwork and balancing a job. I was lucky to have only three classes a day, you on the other hand might not be so lucky....

... Ensure Your Words Are Always Understood Think of the last really memorable talk or presentation that you attended. Now, was that easy to do, or did you really have to rack your brains to remember one? Sadly, too many presentations are easy to forget. And that's a big problem because the only reason the presenter gave the talk was to communicate something to you! However, there are three basic things that you can do to ensure that your verbal messages are understood – and remembered – time and time again. Although somewhat obvious and deceptively simple, these are: • Understand the purpose of the presentation • Keep the message clear and concise • Be prepared • Be vivid when delivering the message Understand what you want to achieve Before you start working on your talk or presentation, it's vital that you really understand what you want to say, who you want to tell and why they might want to hear it. To do this, ask yourself: Who? What? How? When? Where? Why? Who are you speaking to? What are their interests, presuppositions and values? What do they share in common with others; how are they unique? What do you wish to communicate? One way of answering this question is to ask yourself about the ‘success criteria’. How do you know if and when you have successfully communicated what you have in mind? How can you best convey your message? Language is important here, as are the nonverbal cues discussed earlier. Choose your words and your nonverbal...

...Creativity, Design, and Innovation Emmanuel Prude OI/ 361 August 19th, 2013 University of Phoenix JOHN SOLTYS Creativity Creativity is essential to the process of design and innovation. Any idea thought of is just one of many until creativity is applied, making that idea unique. Creativity is associated with critical thinking, brainstorming, and even the cognitive process which involves recognition, reason, and understanding. Creativity can happen in a number of ways; rather it is taught, encouraged, or an act of random causality. Innovation Innovation is mainly defined as the act of creative thinking. Innovation is developing an idea, taking it from the mind and turning it into a physical form of a process, system, product, or service. Innovation is a new found way to solve a problem. In an organization, innovation can be used in many ways. Rather its upgrade a systematic way of processing or coming up with a new product to sell, innovation has been used to bring it all together. When thinking of innovation, there are two components to consider, one being creativity (as previously explained), and the other is implementation. Implementation is mainly turning ideas into process. Coming up with an idea, developing that idea, and then commercializing that idea are all processes that falls under implementation. Design Design is the process of which creativity is transformed through innovation into its physical form. Design deals with everyday things and makes them...

...especially evident in his two poems ‘Weapons Training’ and ‘Life cycle’ . Dawe has used language in many interesting ways to capture human experience and has successfully drawn the attention of the reader through this use of vivid imagery and realistic tone. He has used a variety of language techniques to help bring his poetry to life and as a result, has helped the reader feel involved in what is happening. This causes the reader to sympathise with the human experiences that Dawe is describing. The language techniques in Dawes poetry are very imaginative and creative . The purpose of ‘weapons training ’ is to show the dehumanisation of the training for war in the 1970s on the other hand in the poem ‘Life Cycle’ the purpose is to portray that VFL is more than sport, it is a religion to the persona. The tone of ‘Weapons Training’ is very aggressive and abusive whereas ‘Life Cycle’ is very proud of being a fan and follower of VFL and his team. In ‘Weapons Training’ Bruce Dawe has used language to capture human experience through the use of the rhetorical question used in line 4, ‘are you queer?’. The use of this rhetorical question sets the tone of this human experience/ poem, the tone of brutalisation, of turning a man into a machine, a machine with no feelings or emotions. Questioning a mans sexuality is a great insult to a man, as it portrays to the man that they are weak and un-manly. Insulting a man in this experience was training them to be immune to insults and to make...

... There are many positives and negatives of attending college. Go over them, and then decide. I know myself better then anyone else, and I won't let anyone else tell me what to do. I will make sure if I am going to attend college that I have something in mind that I will want to do, to succeed in. Choosing a major can be a very stressful situation so why not sit down and take some time to do it? Be creative, don't rush, give yourself plenty of time and really think about what interests you in life. My major is something that I will want to enjoy, something that I will be doing for the rest of my life. Why would I want to be miserable at something I do in life? In two short essays: "College? What's in It for me?" by Steven M. Richardson, and "What It Means to Be Creative", by S.I. Hayakawa, I can relate to my major very well. Athletic Training is something that takes skill, as well as being creative in your own way. No two Athletic Trainers are the same. The more creative I am at whatever I do, the better off I will be. I hold the keys to all the doors that can be opened in my life, and I will ensure that they will not be put to waste. Here at the State University at Cortland, I made the decision of choosing Athletic Training as my major. I knew I wanted to do this because I was very interested in sports my whole life. It wasn't an easy decision in choosing a school, but I think I made the best choice based on my major right now. In a short essay... [co;kgkkklj;;rdewwq...

...Nowadays there is a great variety of jobs to any taste. Choosing a future career, we should consider the following things. • Pay. Is the size of your salary important? Moreover, if you are going to have a family, you should be ready to support it, to be a breadwinner. Naturally, you'd like to live in good conditions, and your children to study at good schools, and then to enter prestigious universities, to travel all around the world and so on. Now you understand why you should take money into consideration when choosing a job. • Further training, promotion prospects and job conditions should also be kept in mind. Just after graduating it is very difficult to find a plum job which will respond to all your preferences. It is usually a monotonous, tedious clerical job, but if you are a capable and hard-working person, you will certainly be offered an opportunity to climb the ladder. • Place of work. You ought to decide whether you want to work indoors (cashier, chemist, librarian, secretary, etc.) or outdoors (driver, firefighter, estate agent, etc.). Your choice may be based on your lifestyle or health condition. • Full-time, part-time, flexitime jobs. There is no set pattern to part-time working. It may involve a later start and earlier finish time than a full-time position, working mornings or...
