...Macbeth vs. Macbeth Retold Most people believe that books are absolutely better than movies because movies have a tendency to be incomplete, either from lack of important details or from different interpretations and setting, but Macbeth retold has proven that it is one to watch, not only does it have great actors and a stupendous storyline, it has also stayed fateful to the context of tragedy that makes Macbeth a true literary work. The British Broadcasting Company’s Macbeth Retold, directed by Mark Brozel, is truly an amazing film because of it stunning cinematography and plot, with actors like James McAvoy (Joe Macbeth), Keeley Hawes (Ella Macbeth), Joseph Millson (Billy or Banquo), Vincent Regan (Duncan), Richard Armitage (Peter Macduff) and Toby Keebel (Malcolm). Together with its faithfulness to Shakespeare’s Macbeth and the tragedy that is shown, Macbeth Retold is truly a great adaptation of its original book. Although the original book, Macbeth, and its modern adaptation, Macbeth Retold, have some similarities, their differences are still quite evident, such as the language that is used, the setting and the characters. Macbeth and Macbeth Retold both exhibit how greed and a hunger for power can destroy a person’s kindness and righteousness. Macbeth Retold is a truly tragic story set in modern Scotland. Joe Macbeth is the head chef of a famous restaurant known for its delicious and mouthwatering food, along side his wife, Ella Macbeth, who is the manager and...

...The five most important technological advances in Electronic Communication are the telegraph, the telephone, radio/TV, the internet, and cell phones. 1. The telegraph (in my opinion) is by far the most important electronic communications development in our history. For millennia societies have communicated over long distances strictly using the physical environment; smoke screens, reflected light, pyres, etc., have been used long before electric technology was introduced. While effective, the physical environment can only “reach” so far; the electric telegraph enabled entire regions, countries, and governments to connect instantly. The ability to send messages- or simply communicate- via electric wires was undoubtedly the fastest leap communications has ever seen; in a matter of decades the world was covered in wires. The telegraph enabled globalization, better government communications, and a widespread need to speak to one another. While the telegraph is somewhat obsolete today, the invention opened the door to the telephone, the radio, and (quite literally) laid the foundation of all electric communications. http://classroom.synonym.com/significance-samuel-morse-inventing-telegraph-10183.html http://history1800s.about.com/od/inventioninnovation/a/telegraph01.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telegraphy 2. The second most important electronic development would be the telephone. Founded on the same ideas as the telegraph, the telephone enabled people to literally “send”...

...but how often do they truly communicate? What is communication to you? I am sure that you are one of those couples who think hey, we talk all the time so there’s no communication problems with our relationship, but think about it, what do you say when you think you are communicating? Do you talk about what needs done when and how, or do you talk about each other to each other? Who is doing the talking and who is doing the listening, are you both talking and listening? What you have to say to each other is so much more important than how often you say anything at all to them. How can you say you love someone, if you don’t even know who he or she is? Communicating with your partner goes deeper than just talking about your day, although it is a start. In order to keep your relationship healthy and strong you both have to take the time to see who each other truly are, and what you both truly want or need. Before reading the article Can We Talk, I knew that communication was important, and I knew what communication was. What I did not realize was that maybe all this time my partner and I have not been communicating effectively like we thought. When I sit back and think about what the article had to say, I realize that most of mine and my partners communication is of daily mundane stuff such as dealing with the children, dinner, and other tasks. When my partner and I got together, we both agreed that trust and communication is the most important to us for our relationship...

...you since birth. The corruption of humans lies behind the lack of uninfluenced, pure ideas; the lofty influence on children’s lives in order to shape their ideas; the chase to spread and uphold the beliefs of the truly unknown; and the convenience of conformity. There’s no fun in living in corruption by the life everyone expects out of you if you are blinded by what you really want for yourself. A trick that everyone knows but no one seems to realize is that you only get one life and it is all your decision what you do with it; I believe that whether you choose to find your introspect or live off of rules set out for you and simply accept it is also your decision. Some people may go through life and not truly ever think for themselves and are completely content with their lives. Ignorance is bliss. Ignorance or introspection: that is a choice of each individual. Everyone says the world is corrupt, there is evil, there is chaos; no matter, they are right but few go...

...Emily O’Neil My Semester Journey “It is our choices, Harry, that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilities” ― J.K. Rowling wrote in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This quote accurately describes my journey this semester of trying to make the correct choice on a major in college. Based on what I choose as my major will show other people who I truly am, not because of what I have accomplished already in my life. Abilities and skills don’t mean anything until you can prove yourself and make the right choices in life. For instance, you could be very good at math and decide to choose a major that has a very light coursework so that you could easily graduate without any problems. Making this decision would be wrong and would show others that the real you aren’t motivated or determined in life. The major that I choose will be something that will challenge me during college and will also agree with my skills. Thinking back to August, I was choosing a major between about three different options. I knew I was interested in animals, construction, and math, but I had no idea how or if I could ever combine the three interests. In the back of my mind, I knew I wanted to challenge myself in college so that I would actually be able to get a high paying job in the future. I knew that choosing a challenging major would pay off in the long run and employers would then see who I truly was, a determined, hard-worker that will do anything to succeed. This is how I coincide...

...The United States constitution is a beautiful example of a living document. The Framers knew their draft was far from perfect, and so they gave the citizens the ability to add to the Constitution however they see fit in the form of amendments. All twenty seven of the amendments are extremely important. It would be very difficult to confidently say one is more important than all the others, but for the sake of argument it is the amendment granting women suffrage. The most important amendment to the U.S Constitution is the Nineteenth Amendment, because it finally equalized voting rights, addressed the suffragette movement, and was one of the first victories of western feminism. Up until 1920 nearly half of the the U.S population could not vote. In 1920 the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified, finally giving all women in the United States voting rights. Our country was founded upon the belief that all people were created equally, and that all people had certain unalienable rights. The thought that so many were denied these rights simply because they were women was absolutely absurd. It was not until after the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified that one could say citizens...

...The Importance of Interacting with People of Other Faiths “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This was one of the important things I learned from Rabbi Joseph Telushkin. I surpringsly have never heard of this verse from the Hebrew bible or from any bible for that matter. I myself am not very religious, but I thoroughly enjoyed what Rabbi Joseph Telushkin had to say during his lecture. Many of us have are too modest to ever fully accept a compliment that we receive. I find myself doing this quite often. It’s very hard for me to understand that people do actually enjoy my company or admire what I do sometimes. I do know that I could work on my self-esteem, but at the same I feel almost embarrassed to really love myself because then I’m seen as too self -absorbed and I would never want to be seen as that kind of person. I learned that sometimes you have to love yourself as much as you adore or love those around you. It’s appropriate to give yourself the credit you deserve. If you truly do something good, be proud of what you did. Take pride in it because although it’s important for you to know your weaknesses, it’s important to know your strengths as well because you have to have pride in what you do well in. Ultimately, you will grow from those strengths. If you constantly demoralize yourself or focus on your weaknesses all the time, you will never be motivated to better yourself, you will limit yourself, and give up. Rabbi Joseph really made me think about the fact that...

...local traditions in favor of presumed psychological universals” (Dueck and Reimer, 2009, p. 48). These “psychological universals” restrict a person’s life and identity by hindering the religious and spiritual affiliations unique to that individual. The therapist is withholding potential sources of healing in the client’s journey through counseling by depriving him or her of this integral aspect of life. Instead, religion and spirituality should be treated like any other cultural aspect of a client’s life, a fundamental feature of his or her identity. I agree with the authors in this approach to therapy. Religion encompasses so much of a person’s psyche. By ignoring this fact, one is ignoring an extremely important factor in a person’s life. However, I think it is important not to over-emphasize...

...The Color of Fear video was extremely enlightening and truly made me think more in depth about many factors regarding race. It was interesting to watch men of all different races and backgrounds come together to discuss the issue of race. I enjoyed witnessing how all of their reactions to race differed. I found it immensely beneficial to hear the perspectives of men that grew up as minorities and to hear their reasons as to why the color blindness approach is not helpful at all. It was interesting to see how all of these men had a different interpretation of what it meant to be American. For instance, the man who was Chinese-American in the video explains that he feels offended when others consider him to be just the ordinary "American"....

...Developing a Motivational Plan for Susan Smith In the workforce regardless of the industry, motivation is the key factor of performance that leads to accomplishments. Motivation is needed in every single part of our lives, from getting up in the morning to making your dinner after work. The most important factor that drives us in our society and our world is motivation, is what has lead us to the moon, fly, drive vehicles, cross over continents to discover other civilizations, and continue to innovate technology that is driving us to a more futuristic society. Motivation is describes as the conscious or unconscious stimulus, incentive, or motives for action toward a goal resulting from psychological or social factors, the factors giving the purpose or direction to behavior (Borkowski, 2015). ...too. Their behavior isn't a sign of confidence, though; it's the hallmark of an intellectual bully. Truly confident people don't mind being proven wrong. They feel finding out what is right is a lot more important than being right. And when they're wrong, they're secure enough to back down graciously. Truly confident people often admit they are wrong or don't have all the answers; intellectual bullies never do. 2. They listen 10 times more than they speak. Bragging is a mask for insecurity. Truly confident people are quiet and unassuming. They already know what they think; they want to know what you think. So they ask open-ended questions that give other people the freedom to be thoughtful and introspective: They ask what you do, how you do it, what you like about it, what you learned from it, and what they should do if they find themselves in a similar situation. Truly confident people realize they know a lot, but they wish they knew more, and they know the only way to learn more is to listen more. 3. They duck the spotlight so it shines on others. Perhaps it's true they did the bulk of the work. Perhaps they really did overcome the major obstacles. Perhaps it's true they turned a collection of disparate individuals into an incredibly high-performance team. Truly confident people don't care--at least they don't show it. ...Dear, Jacob The book “When The Wind Blows” by James Patterson is a book that truly believe that you are going to enjoy. I recommend highly to you that you read this book. You've recommended books to me in the past and this is one I feel you are going to enjoy. Though the book is somewhat of a quick read the story is amazing and a lot of events unfold in it. Personally I feel the shorter length makes it better because they're is constant action going on through this book. Part of the Reason why I recommended it to you is because I know you are a fan of action books. We do have a similar taste in books seeing as how some of the books you've read I have also read so this is a moment where I believe another book will be added to that list. I truly enjoyed this book. The story is about a veterinarian by the name of Frannie O'Neil. Now I don't wanna spoil to much of the book but she meets a man who is not who he says he actually is. Together that meet a girl by the name of Max and let's just say she is very special and Max has a lot of special friends....
