...XACC/210C The information systems that are used in the office I work at include an office information system, and a transaction processing system. Everything in my office is performed electronically. I submit all claim forms through EDI on a daily basis. EDI (electronic data interchange) is used for electronic exchange of text, graphics, audio and video. Submitting my claim forms this way creates less waste, as with the paper and mail format. It also saves money. The hardware that is used includes my computer, copy machine, and a facsimile. All of these things used make the process a lot easier. Rather than having to send and receive everything through snail mail. When submitting through an EDI, I can receive my payments back within two weeks. If I was to send through the mail, I would have to wait up to 6 weeks to receive something back from an insurance company. A transaction processing system is another information system that I use on a daily basis. I record all patient payments all with the click of a button. I also enter in patient updates and new patient data into this system. I can also remove any unwanted or unnecessary information. All transaction data is saved into this system. So at the end of the day all I have to do is print a daily payment/transaction report, and make sure I balance out at the end of the day. I suppose that this all would be included as an online transaction processing system? I feel that with the everyday use of doing everything...

The types of information are: Verbal, written, onscreen, multi-media, and web based. Verbal information This type of information is based on a face-to face verbal communication and is considered the best way to communicate both internal and external. This means there is less scope for misunderstanding and it allows both verbal and non-verbal messages to go through. ...P1/M1 - Explain and analyse different types of business information, their source and purposes. Task 1 Verbal This is a use of sounds and words to express yourself, which includes the use of gestures or mannerisms. Advantages & disadvantages An advantage of why verbal communication would be beneficial during an meeting with Apple would be so that all of the information given out is broken down a lot easier making it easier to understand what is being said to the individual therefore they it is easily picked up and understood. Not only that if they were to use hand gestures they would keep the audience eager therefore people would keep focused throughout the whole of the meeting making it easier to sink in to everyone. Verbal communication makes it easier to express feelings to the people you are speaking to, for example if you are upset with a certain subject you are unable to express feelings over text, but with facial expressions and actually showing the emotions during a meeting, the individuals will actually be able to have a full understanding of what is being said. Another advantage of verbal communication is that people are able to get a quick response and feedback on what they have to say about what has been discussed during the meeting therefore they may note that down and take it into account as that is most likely what a meeting is all about, taking on board people’s emotions and feedback towards the certain topic. Some of the many disadvantages of verbal...

...conduct the research a question must be framed that needs answering, and a methodology for the research chosen. There are two methodologies that are used in social science research, quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The quantitative methodology is influenced by the positivist tradition, which seeks a single truth that can be discovered by scientific investigation (Gilbert, 2005). The second methodology is qualitative, which is influenced by the interpretivist position. This position holds that truth is not so easy to find and reality is subjective and cannot be found through scientific methods (Benton & Craib,2001). This essay will look at both methodologies and try to discover if the research method is influenced by the type of information one wishes to collect, or if a methodology has no bearing on social reality. It will also examine a research question chosen by the author and their preferred research methodology. Quantitive Research Quantitative research follow the positivist tradition of research, there is an ‘objective, external world that exists independently of human perception, which is amenable to quantitative measurement’ (Gilbert, 2005,p32).
