Visual Literacy Charlene Riley CGD 218 Visual Literacy in Business Misbahuddin Syed April 2, 2016

I will be discussing what I have learned from this course dealing with Visual Literacy. There are so many new things I learned about Visual Literacy that I didn’t know before. Some of the tools I have learned basic elements, Dots, Shapes, Volumes, Scale, Spatiality, Balance, Direction, Lighting, Perspective, Proportion, Color, Philosophical speculations on color, the enigma of color and attributes of color. Also the tools Typography, Brand Identity, Advertising, and the general principles of design, proportions, movement, and contrast. I will show you by using pictures, PowerPoint and Social Media. Now, when it comes to the Social Media we have so many different social websites out there in the world. We have Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, Instagram, and many more. I will talk about some of this social websites and the effects that some of these website have good and bad. Why you selected the visuals. I have choose to discuss these visuals because they are some of these tools that I can use every day in my life. I have trouble talking, writing, and communicating to people on a daily bases. I never know that there was so many ways to help me communicated out. I help my boyfriend with the park that we live in and I have to email a lot of papers to the general man who owns the park. I have been able to use a lot of the tools I have learned to make the park run a lot better. PowerPoint has been a big help with setting up flyer, letters, and other things for the park. (Argerinou & Pettersson, 2011, p. 6) Children must be taught visual literacy in school to prepare them for the information age we now live in. Schools teach the meaning of words and very often ignore visual literacy all together. For our next generation of leaders to be successful in this age of over-information visual literacy has never been more important. We all are exposed to massive amount of visual stimuli on a daily basis. In order to not to get completely overwhelmed we must developed the skills to be selective about what we allow ourselves to process and what we just tune out.
