Relaxation

...Brooke Bohinski January 24, 2012 English 101 Process Analysis Essay Sit Down and Relax Do you ever get the chance to just sit down and take a deep breath? Well many people say they never get that chance between school and work, but guess what? You finally have the weekend off and you can do whatever you want. Take the time to relax. The most relaxing weekend is the one that you just sit down and do what you like, such as spending time to yourself, outdoors or with people you love. People go to great lengths to relax, however relaxing can be as simple as an enjoyable weekend with no responsibility. First thing in the morning take a long, hot shower or bath to wake you up. You should get out and put on your most relaxed clothing, such as sweats or whatever you prefer to be comfy in. Almost all people wake up hungry, so after getting cleaned you need to fix something hot for breakfast, whether it is pancakes, waffles or just a fried egg. Next comes everyone’s favorite, sit down and watch either your favorite movie or the three episodes of your favorite TV show that you haven’t watched in over a month due to studying all night. After that get Facebook and check up on the latest gossip. By then anyone would be hungry so just fix something simple but good. Popping a pizza in the oven is something simple and good. After eating, you could go outside and enjoy the nature. It can be sunny, storming or snowing but either way you could enjoy them all. Sitting inside listening...

Phl 458 Week 1 Dq 1 & 2

...# 1) Think of a moral or ethical dilemma you have faced where every choice seemed unsatisfactory. What did you ultimately decide and why did you choose that decision? Being a newly certified correctional officer I have learned the “policy and procedure” way of doing things from the academy, but now I am seeing the “hands on” way of doing things from the more seasoned correctional staff. To say the least some of the ways are completely opposite. One of the main dilemmas I have been faced with is “whether or not to give out inmate request forms” to the inmates if they ask for them. This may seem like an open and closed question, but it really isn’t. See according to policy and the inmate handbook, the only way for the inmates to communicate or request anything is through the inmate request form. This includes but is not limited to signing up for classes, chapel services, medical call outs (sick or well), laundry changes or request, etc. This list really goes on! This is where I am happy to give the form out as long as I have them, because I understand that point. However I have several fellow officers who will tell them “I don’t have any request forms!” Even if they have a stack of them sitting within arm’s reach. I believe this is wrong. I feel that though the inmates made poor decision that landed them in my care and custody, they are still human beings, and should be treated as such, therefore if they need a request form they should be given one. # 2) What do you do when...

Surviving Plant World’s Hard Times

...only "employees" were friends who would volunteer to help her move a heavy tree. To maintain that atmosphere, Ong involved herself increasingly with people and less with plants as the company grew. With hundreds of customers and scores of jobs at any one time, she could no longer say without hesitation whether she had a dozen arborvitae bushes in stock or when Mrs. Carnack’s estate would need a new load of bark mulch. But she knew when Rose had been up all night with her baby, when Gary was likely to be late because he had driven to see his sick father over the weekend, and how to deal with Ellen when she was depressed because of her boyfriend’s behavior. She kept track of the birthdays of every employee and even those of their children. She was up every morning by five-thirty arranging schedules so that John could get his son out of daycare at four o’clock and Martina could be back in town for her afternoon high school equivalency classes. Paying all this attention to employees may have led Ong to make a single bad business decision that almost destroyed the company. She provided extensive landscaping to a new mall on credit, and when the mall never opened and its owners went bankrupt, Plant World found itself in deep trouble. The company had virtually no cash and had to pay off the bills for the mall plants, most of which were not even salvageable. One Friday, Ong called a meeting with her employees and leveled with them:...

Party

...hell is what we did best. My parents were hard workers. My father worked at a factory and my mom as a hair stylist. They were strict parents to an extent. They were the kind of parents that raised me to respect my elders, and if I did wrong I knew there was going to be a punishment. Punishments usually never crossed my mind though, because of course you have to get caught doing wrong to get punished. Which I never thought I would, and sometimes I would not get caught. Until the summer I thought my friends and I got away with the best party of all time. My parents never would leave town for a weekend, and on the rare occasions that they did I would not be left the house to myself. I would be stuck staying at a friend’s house until they got back. Except for some reason in summer of 2004 my parents came up to me on a Monday and told me that they would be taking vacation for the weekend and I would have the house to myself. At that very moment I was almost in shock. I could not really say anything. They began to explain rules for when they were gone. Like feed the dog, keep the house clean, cut the grass, water the flowers, basic odds and ends. While they were explaining all of this it was hard to concentrate because...

Let's Get Together

...Let’s Get Together Our leadership at Mountain Christian Church, Joppa, Maryland, has worked hard to create a mission-first, team-first staff culture. We work hard to facilitate, encourage, and protect this culture with existing staff, but we work extra hard to ensure prospective staff understand, buy in, and fit in with our culture. In fact, we believe selecting new staff to join our team at Mountain is one of the most important tasks of leadership. Few decisions have a longer-term impact on a church’s health and mission than the people it hires. Selecting wisely can move the mission forward and heighten a positive staff culture. Selecting poorly can derail or deter the mission, hold back a given ministry area, or create negative energy within the entire church. We always enter the hiring process by stating clearly that we want what God wants. If God is directing us to hire someone, we believe we can determine his will through a deliberate process. This includes face-to-face contact and the involvement of discerning people. Getting a Clear Picture Our goal is to get a clear picture of the candidate’s “four C’s”: character, competence, chemistry, and calling. Character is the heart and integrity of a Christian leader. Competence includes the skill sets, gifts, education, experience, and leadership required to fulfill the responsibilities. Chemistry is the degree to which a person fits within the staff team and staff culture. This includes the specific team in which the...
