...Not enough Sleep can affect kids poorly More than 80% of schools start before 8:00. Schools should start time later because when kids fall asleep in class, they don’t get the knowledge they need, not enough sleep makes people sleepy and groggy and not enough sleep can hurt people mentally and physically. The first reason why sleep is important is when kids fall asleep in class, students don’t get the knowledge they need. Teenagers are tempted to stay up later so they have a tendency to fall asleep in class (The teen who woke up her school). This is bad if students fall asleep so this is one reason to push back school times. “60% of kids complain that they are tired in school,” states Sleepfoundation.org. Again, if school started at 8 or 8:30, there would be no problem with the complaining. The majority of students past the age of 13 are sleep deprived. To conclude this, Next when people don’t have enough sleep, people are really tired and cranky. The second reason why school should start after 8 is not enough sleep can make people sleepy...

...need love just like we need food and sleep. When we are younger we should receive love because it’s possible that we could not develop to love others. It’s very important for babies to get love because if they don’t there is a high chance that they will grow up to be alone and will have low self esteem. I agree that the “mother-infant relationship is the essence of love.” I agree with this because our mothers are really the first people we develop a real relationship with and how learn to love. If we don’t establish that relationship with our mothers, it will be relatively hard to love other people. Babies slowly learn how to live in the world and having a relationship with their mother is very important for the baby to develop relationships with other people while they are still young as well as when they get older. I agree with the talk about criminals. It says that they usually didn’t get enough love and affection while they were growing up. If you don’t get enough love as a child, you could end up going down the wrong path. You will most likely end up doing bad things to try and make up the lack of love and affection that you received as a child. Children with inattentive parents sometimes end up being criminals because they never really had anyone show them love 3 Disagrees: I disagree that babies need “continuous loving.” I think they just need to know that their mother is there and will acknowledge them. They just need enough love so they don’t feel like they are being...

...reasons. One main reason is, to have enough sleeping hours. Another reason is that kids need to be healthy and have enough energy for the day, another way to improve that is to have a healthy breakfast before starting the day. When teens don't get enough sleep it can affect the brain in a poor matter, lack of sleep for teens and young adults can cause depression and major mood swings. School hours should start at least around 10, because it will have time for students to do whatever they need to do or get more sleep at least an hour more of sleep and it will be better and students wouldn't be so cranky about getting up in the morning. And it students can get real mad when they are...

...Chavez formed unions and protested for better job conditions. In the end he was able to succeed in his struggle. Even so nowadays it seems that people have forgotten all about him. So I strongly believe that most people do not honor Cesar Chavez enough as they should. I believe that they may not honor Cesar Chavez enough since most of his memorial sites are rundown, some of the sites are actually forgotten or obsolete, and lastly people have forgotten or do not care for Cesar Chavez enough...

...who to trust. Anybody could be waiting to hurt me, kill me, or send me back to the plantation. I sleep when I can, which is not much, but enough to keep me moving. Even when I have been fortunate enough to find a safe enough place to sleep, it is difficult. Sometimes my exhaustion is enough to send me straight to sleep, but other times I lie awake just thinking because my brain simply won’t calm down. My eyes sting from lack of sleep on the mornings following those nights. My health is not great, as of now. It is also not improving. About two nights ago, some hunting dogs found me. I quite miraculously got away, but not unharmed. There is a large gash in my leg from the bite of one of the two dogs’ strong jaw. There is too much blood, and I haven’t had medical training. I believe that I may soon lose consciousness because of the exertion, deprivation, and injuries that my body has sustained, but in spite of this I continue to attempt to...

...Lesson Plan Reflection by Tori Goldrick What happened when the lesson plan was implemented: The first day of the lesson had only one main problem. We had trouble finding enough working computers for each student to work individually. This was solved simply by having the students work with their assigned partner to complete the teacher-made scavenger hunt. This part of the lesson took only about 20 minutes, which allowed plenty of time to show the class the "Basics of DNA" video, and give them time to start reading from their science books. The second day of this lesson ran very smoothly. The students were contained in the media center and all focused on the Smart Board for the presentation. This I found out was just the calm before the storm. The first day we were in the computer lab was utter chaos. There weren't enough computers working for the number of groups I had. Then not all of the working computers had FrontPage Express on them. Finally to top it all off, most of the students didn't remember to bring their instruction handout from the day before. This meant that I was going to need to do a quick review for the class on how to use FrontPage Express. This took about 30 minutes away from their work time. I think that next time I do the lesson I am going to collect their handouts when we finish in the media center, then pass them out to them once we are in the computer lab. Once we got through the first day, the second one went well. The students were actively...

...serve any cereal at breakfast and god knows I love my cereal in the morning. Instead I have to settle for an American breakfast: sausage and bacon with some eggs as well. After I am done with my breakfast I check the time to see if I have to go to class yet. Seven forty-five, still fifteen minutes before I really have to go. So I grab the New-York Times and decide to catch up on the daily news. However, when I come back from getting the newspaper the group of five students who sat next to me decided that they did not have to pick up their trays with everything on them. I get a little annoyed that they could care less about something as simple as common courtesy. I decide to watch how many students actually pick up everything after they finish their breakfast. I am flabbergasted to see that roughly every one out of five students leave everything. This is when I really get angry. People that have no patience or common courtesy really grind my gears. People always seem to be in a rush and in concordance fail to have even the slightest trace of patience. The most common example of this that I experience is when I drive. In Miami people always seem to be in a rush. There is never enough time to get everything done and get from point “A” to point “B” as well. Therefore drivers feel it is necessary to honk at the slightest trace of calm, no one is allowed to take his or her time. WHY! Why are people not allowed to drive at their own pace? People should not be forced to drive above speed...

...and have him tell you it’s because you’re just not enough, or you can get an F on your Math midterm which takes up 30% of your final grade. In my case though, the worst hurt came from my best friend emailing me on Christmas Eve. This was not even half of what she sent me: “I just really want you to stop thinking about what others think of you! Bianca, you used to not care! What happened to the best friend I had 7 years ago who didn't care about what others think? The girl who didn't even bother to think about petty dramas? The girl who had so much self-control yet is super fun to hang out with? The girl who had so much ideas to offer? The girl who was Bianca. I miss Bianca ok. Look, I'm not asking you to never change because that's hella impossible. I'm just telling you to stick to who you are and to never forget it. I asked help from the chillest person ever and gives the most neutral answer ever and I won't name her. I opened up about how I'm feeling but before I vented we were talking about how opposite you and I are, like I'm so loud and you're angelic and everything else then she said "yeah I think Bianca's cool" and I said "yeah she is" and then she replied "...now medj hindi na" then that's when I vented and then she concluded you conformed to being normal or basic and that's not you, ok. I don't know how to expand on this more but I just felt off with you. Like I meant it when I said I really really miss you and I really do but somehow the distance felt ok as well because...

...Motorcycle Maintenance. That would be quite a novel, but for some reason I don't feel quite up to it. They're friends, not characters, and as Sylvia herself once said, 'I don't like being an object!' So a lot of things we know about one another I'm simply not going into. Nothing bad, but not really relevant to the Chautauqua. That's the way it should be with friends.' Page 121 Chapter 12 The statement, "I don't like being an object!" is encountered throughout many situations in an average daily life. As people, we sometimes tend to take advantage of certain things without meaning to because we're so used to the fact that they're always there. Friends aren't an exception to this statement. In the book, "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" by Robert M. Pirsig, the man telling the story, Phaedrus, lightly goes into this fact of life. Phaedrus is a very confused man with an interesting past, who tells the story about the man he used to be. While telling his story, he's travelling with two longtime friends, John and Sylvia Sutherland, and his son, Chris. During the times where he drifts back to reality and describes where he and his companions are in their travels, he never really describes himself, as in what he looks like or the looks and personalities of his travelling companions. This can seem a bit puzzling to the reader if they are attempting to picture the scene described or even the characters but the author had a good reason for doing so. The author...

...Have you ever thought been deaf and blind? Annie Sullivan is a teacher in the story The Miracle Worker by William Gibson. When Annie first saw Helen’s family, Annie explained, “Language is more important to the mind that light is to the eyes” (Act I). Some people think that they are perfect, but they do not think about an outside world. Most of people are not really strong or they just give up to the world. When Annie was teaching Helen, Annie cried, “Helen, Helen! The bird must come out of its shell. You come out too” (Act III). Annie developed and grew up through this wonderful story, working really hard. At the beginning she was strong and determined, but Annie evolved at the end to be successful. At the beginning of the story, Annie was strong willed and determined. Annie was an orphan, her entire life. Annie lost her family but she lost her brother at the same orphanage she lived. It made Annie see how horrible it was to live that life is. So Annie did not want Helen to experience the same as she did. When Annie left the institute, she was worried that she was not prepared to teach other people. Annie had several problems with her eyes, but she had nine surgeries. It made her worried because she was not sure if the person she is going to teach would learn from her. When Annie first saw Helen, she exclaimed, “I wondered is she was bright, she is the brightest one in the house” (Act I). Annie always did the right thing to have great progress. In the middle of...

While you can definitely tell what Ehrenhalts opinion is on this topic, he is not very effective in logical reasoning and trying to persuade his audience. Ehrenhalt does give some examples and data to convince the audience, but not enough to where it is really successful in doing so. Ehrenhalts article about how privacy is an...

...probably faced moments of doubt. You begin to wonder if you are really good enough, if you can really achieve your goals, and if you will ever find real success in your career. While these feelings may be discouraging, the good news is that as a first-time entrepreneur, you are not alone. Many others in your position are also dealing with that has been termed "Impostor Syndrome." Impostor syndrome encompasses a wide range of feelings. It includes worrying that you aren't smart enough, talented enough, or good enough to achieve your dream. As an aspiring entrepreneur, you might fear that others will find out that you really aren't as smart or as good at your job as they assumed. Sometimes, people begin to think that it was luck, not skill, that helped them to achieve success. While some people allow impostor syndrome to discourage them from achieving their dreams, it can also encourage people to work harder, helping them to prove to themselves as well as others that they can achieve their dream. Even the Most Successful People Deal with It When you are dealing with Impostor Syndrome, you may begin to feel like no one else has felt the way you feel. You might start to feel that everyone else is confident and like you are the only one simply pretending to feel...
