Who Moved My Cheese Analysis * In your opinion, what does the maze represent? What does cheese represent?
The maze represents the path we take in the real world. The maze represents one’s environment. The cheese represents one’s happiness and success; rather that is money or family, whatever someone’s individual happiness and success is. * What types of reactions to change did you observe in the four main characters?
Sniff and Scurry, the two mice, were able to mentally prepare for change by noticing that the Cheese Station C cheese supply had been decreasing. Sniff and Scurry were able to adapt to change and develop a new plan to go find more cheese supply. Hem and Haw, the two humans in the maze, did not mentally prepare for there to be no cheese in Cheese Station C due to the fact that they grew to rely on the constant surplus of cheese at that station. Hem and Haw were scared of the unknown and not willing to adapt to change and go into the maze to locate more cheese (Haw did suggest to go into the maze; however, Hem refused). Haw eventually adapts to change and goes out into the maze in search of new chees, leaving Hem to his old routine and empty Cheese Station C. * Do you find yourself relating to any particular character or behaviors? Which one(s) -- and why?
I believe that I am more like Sniff and Scurry. I try one thing, it doesn’t work, so I try another thing until I get it right. The same goes for when changes are introduced in my department. I am able to see the good in the improvement/change, and I am able to adapt to the change. I do have a few co-workers that are like Hem and do not want to change….old habits die hard. * Describe two (2) parallels or similarities between the story and concepts from the course textbook Switch. 1. The Target story in Chapter 5 parallels the characters of Sniff and Scurry. Robyn Waters was laid-off from her job; so much like Sniff and Scurry, she went in search of a new job (“cheese) by entering the maze. She joined Target and again adapted to change by turning Target into a competitor of Wal-Mart. 2. Sniff and Scurry use the change behavior method “see-feel-change”.

...Introduction Who Moved My Cheese is a well-articulated business fable about how to deal with change in organizations, personal life, and in various situations involving changing paradigms. There are four characters identified in the fable and are described in the below figure. It’s important to note that both Sniff and Scurry are mice in the story and Hem and Haw represent two little people. This paper is being written with the objective of identifying the character in the fable which is least like me (or who least represents my views of change) and discuss his point of view. The character that I will select for this brief analysis is Hem. Application Analysis Hem’s character in the fable describes a typical person in an organization that has gotten comfortable. As the story points out, cheese represents that something or idea of something that we all search for that brings a level of satisfaction, completeness, or joy to us. Both Hem and Haw race through this maze, which represents where we go to look to find our own cheese, and finds cheese at Cheese Station C. After some time, there is a noticeable shrinking of supplies and Sniff and Scurry sees the change and anticipates it and adapts to it fairly quickly. Healthier foods are better for society and being able to understand how serving healthier menus will impact the financial performance of a company is crucial. I focus my attention on Chipotle Mexican Grill since it has been making a concerted effort to provide healthier foods. I have selected McDonald’s Corporation as a benchmark comparison. My specific investigative question is: Does a healthier menu translate into greater profits. My study begins with a comparison of Chipotle and McDonald’s meal options and ingredients in order to assess the overall health of their menus. This comparison revealed that Chipotle clearly had a healthier menu. Succeeding the menu comparisons, a financial analysis was performed on Chipotle and McDonald’s. The results of this study found that Chipotle, the healthier company, performed better in terms of Share Price, Stock Volatility, and Liquidity. The findings indicate that McDonald’s, the unhealthier firm, performed better in the areas of market capitalization, Return on Equity, Return on Assets, Return on Sales and Gross Margin.
