...Wes Bodnar Mrs. Mckeown Honors English 10 9 December 2015 Extraterrestrial Life Really Does Exists Philosophers and astronomers alike have always been always asked one question, “Are we alone?” The existence of alien life has been a controversial topic since before the earliest civilizations. There have been countless hoaxes trying to prove the existence of aliens, but there are also a number of compelling reasons that support the existence of alien life. For example, there is a high probability they exist based on statistics, because life can travel from planet to planet, and there have been thousands of extraterrestrial sightings and encounters; it is highly probable that aliens exist. First off, aliens can be proven to be real by some simple probability and statistics. Our solar system is just one of tens of billions of solar systems in just the Milky Way Galaxy. There are so many possibilities of life in just one galaxy, and there are hundreds of billions of galaxy’s in the universe! Earth is just one of a seemingly endless amount of planets, so it’s hard to imagine that Earth has the only abundance of life in the entire known universe. Also, in the article, “The Likelihood of Extraterrestrial Life” it explains that all humans are made up of three main elements: hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon. Actually, all known life is mainly composed of these “ingredients”. This knowledge suggests that there are many extraterrestrials to be found across the cosmos because all...

...Evaluating Evidence for the Existence of UFOs Name Institution In the “Perspectives on Evaluating Evidence for the Existence of UFOs”, Edward Condon and Royston Paynter have divergent and convergent views about whether or not UFOs exist. Condon's general contention is that we don't have adequate proof to demonstrate UFO's existence. He firmly believes they don't exist. He expresses that individual perspective focuses or sightings don't bolster a genuine general view that UFO's do exist. He likewise contends that teachings of UFOs are decimating students. The author's principle point is that we have not concentrated on UFOs enough to know whether they exist or not on the grounds that the legislature overlooks the UFOs that are not known. The author clarifies that we could say that UFO' do exist due to numerous sightings by several individuals from various societies around the globe. Paynter's fundamental point is that if we don't have genuine physical proof of a UFO or aliens, then they don't exist. He additionally expresses that if individuals’ claim that they were stole by aliens, then they require genuine evidence proves or supports their argument. For example, uncommon DNA or characteristics, or anything that demonstrates they are from aliens. He additionally expresses that more research should be done on UFOs. Paynter’s argument to some extent holds water since he says that the law of physics will not be violated it were to be said that the aliens visited the...

...Aliens have always been a mystery. Aliens started to make their appearance in ancient history. Historical landmarks have been claimed to have been built by aliens. There are a lot of UFO sightings. There are mysteries even science cannot explain. Which raises the question, do aliens exist? Aliens have shown signs in history with weird unexplained landmarks. “Pyramids were found on Mars”(Jasper Hamill). So is that where our pyramid design came from? “In ancient Peru, archeologists have uncovered mummified remains with enlonged skulls”(History.co.uk). Scientists claim Mars once supported life and has signs of water underground”(Jasper Hamill). Aliens have to exist because of how large our universe is. Scientists have found alien planets that have an atmosphere and could support life. “Water is a key ingredient for life and is very common in our solar system”(ABC News). Unexplained signals have been discovered from outer space as well. It is believed this is someone trying to communicate. They are just too far away for us to pick up the signal. Aliens could very well exist with all of these planets and signs we have discovered. Some scientists ask if there is life why haven’t we communicated? “Some scientists say there is no way to make contact because they are too far...

...Introduction In Oxford Dictionary, the popularized term UFO is an acronym for “Unidentified Flying Object” which means any object seen in the air that is not identifiable. These unusual aerial phenomena have been discussed and spotting for centuries, however, according to Wikipedia, the UFO craze really started in 1947 from Roswell UFO incident, after the Second World War. Since then, many UFO sightings have been reported worldwide. Yet, almost all of them end up being IFOs – Identified Flying Objects, as bright planets or stars, aircraft, balloons, flares, peculiar clouds, meteors, and satellites. The remaining sightings are hard to confirm due to the lack of photographic taken, inaccurate reporting, or delusions. Some people have given evidences to support the appearance of the UFOs, arguing that there is a conspiracy to hide the truth. The paper deals with UFOs phenomenon, which is an unexplained aerial event that has happened for a long time. It discusses the evidences of UFOs’ existence and the question of whether we are not alone in this universe as well as the theories surrounding these aerial events. 2. Discussion of findings 2.1. The Evidences For centuries, the UFOs reports have been familiar with people throughout the world. According to UN (2011), it is estimated that since 1947, about 150 million people have witnessed the UFO phenomenon and most of the reports from these people are general sighting. Many picture and video have been taken and recorded...

...Extraterrestrial Hypothesis The extraterrestrial hypothesis (ETH) is the hypothesis that some unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are best explained as being physical spacecraft occupied by extraterrestrial life or non-human aliens from other planets visiting Earth. Etymology Origins of the term extraterrestrial hypothesis are unknown, but use in printed material on UFOs seems to date to at least the latter half of the 1960s. French Ufologist Jacques Vallee used it in his 1966 book Challenge to science: the UFO enigma. It was used in a publication by French engineer Aimé Michel in 1967,[1] by Dr. James E. McDonald in a symposium in March 1968[2] and again by McDonald and James Harder while testifying before the Congressional Committee on Science and Astronautics, in July 1968.[3] Skeptic Philip J. Klass used it in his 1968 book UFOs--Identified. In 1969 physicist Edward Condon defined the "Extra-terrestrial Hypothesis" or "ETH" as the "idea that some UFOs may be spacecraft sent to Earth from another civilization or space other than earth, or on a planet associated with a more distant star," while presenting the findings of the much debated Condon Report. Some UFO historians credit Condon with popularizing the term and its abbreviation "ETH". Chronology Although ETH, as a unified and named hypothesis, is a comparatively new concept - one which owes a lot to the saucer sightings of the 1940s–1960s, it can trace its origins back to a number of earlier events such as the now discredited Martian...

...What do the movies E.T. The Extraterrestrial, Prometheus, Aliens, and The Fourth Kind have in common? They are all about extra-terrestrial life! These movies will send shivers down some people’s spines, and others will roll their eyes at it. The debate over extra-terrestrial life has been going on for decades and it has given rise to one simple yet hard to answer question: Do other life forms exist? Many people are firm believers in the presence of other life forms on Earth and in outer space because of the monumental amount of evidence that supports the presence of these mysterious creatures. Thousands of years ago, people began documenting the first sightings of aliens. Only these primitive people did not go to their local police station. Instead, they recorded their sightings in a universal language that everyone could understand: art. One...

...Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI), in hopes that astronomers can find evidences of life in outer space. Thinking that extraterrestrials would likely leave something behind to signal other intelligent beings during their exploration, astronomers of SETI previously tried to detect interstellar probes to be able send messages back to them, but until now, none have been discovered. Despite this, scientists working on SETI have not given up, focusing more on searching for Earth-like planets in different galaxies. So far, they have discovered “super Earths” that are larger and less temperate than Earth. Some astronomers estimate that perhaps half of the 200 billion or so suns in the Milky Way support terrestrial, Earth-like worlds. What the astronomers do is pick out planets that orbit their suns at distances where temperatures are right for liquid...

...claims about the need for better evidence to prove there are UFO’s and alien lifeform. If the UFOlogist wants to demonstrate the existence of alien’s and UFO’s they need to be testing all evidence they find and following up on credible sightings. Paynter was right when he said, “The UFOlogical community have to support their conclusions with probative evidence and rigorous reasoning and to confront the skeptics with the evidence they so dearly seek a demonstrably alien artifact.” (Boss, 2014) Some believers maintain the demand for physical proof of alien visitations are unreasonable because aliens are too intelligent to leave physical evidence of their presence on Earth. (Boss, 2014) Paynter responds to their claims by saying “such an argument may make sense to somebody who is prepared to believe in alien visitations as an act of faith, in the same way, which some people believe in angels.” (Boss, 2014) To establish the claims that UFO’s exist we first need probable physical evidence. If we can find some alien artifact on Earth, we can then analyze the evidence and conclude that aliens and UFO’s do exist. If we can run the proper test on the “implants” found from the people who were “abducted” we will be able to prove or disprove if aliens do exist. The...

...Aliens, do they exist? That is a huge question that people are asking today. Before I did research on this topic I didn’t really know how I personally would answer that question. I of course leaned toward no but then again I was always wondering if maybe they were out there. My dad and I like to watch history documentaries and I had watched several documentaries on aliens. But every time I watched them they would show these weird sightings being caught on camera. The fact that they didn’t know how to explain it always made me wonder what it could really be. However after researching the topic I can say with surety that there are not aliens in space. This was a very interesting topic to research. There were many points in the articles, from Creation Ministries, brought out that do a very good job of making the idea of aliens a childhood dream. I liked the author's way of explaining the topic, making it very clear that Aliens truly existing is the excuse of those denying God. I find it interesting that so many people really do believe this with absolute surety. But then one can see that they want to believe...

... Jose Santiago, Jessica Saunders, Holli Mitchell SCI/151 June 2, 2010 John Judkins Title of Paper The Universe is a topic that has been studied since the existence of man. The unknowns of the Universe have intrigued man for many years. As time has progressed many questions have been answered, but many more have been brought forth. Although we have no confirmation of life beyond earth, the odds of earth having the only sign of life in our Universe is slim. The Universe is too large and ever expanding to know what life can be found beyond Earth if any. For years we have studied our planet Earth, we have tried to understand its climate, atmosphere its lands and oceans. We try to understand how life as we know only exists on earth. This study is now known as Geology. Earth is the 3rd planet from the Sun at a distance of about 150 million kilometers It takes 365.2 days for the Earth to travel around the Sun and 23.9 hours for the Earth to rotate a complete revolution. It has a diameter of 12,756 kilometers, only a few hundred kilometers larger than that of Venus. Our atmosphere is composed of 78 percent nitrogen, 21 percent oxygen and 1 percent other constituents. It is believed that life began on earth about 4.6 billion years ago. Scientist believe that comets and meteorites could have contributed to life on earth by depositing carbon based molecules into the atmosphere. Nitrogen and oxygen in another form can create water. Water...

...Introduction Conspiracy theories are some of the most talked about topics in the entire world. Many of the conspiracies out there range from either it’s possible to completely off the wall. The one conspiracy theory that caught my interest out of all the others though, was the idea that we are living in a computer simulation created by an intelligent race. Many of the most intelligent people in the world believe we are actually living in a computer simulated universe, and these are some of the most brilliant minds in the world. The computer simulation theory is primarily based around the matrix movie which I have a small picture of in Figure A (hitman, 2011), but not entirely based around it. In the theory, scientists believe that we are all in a computer simulation being run by a higher being or beings. One of the biggest arguments here would probably be that we have free will, so we cannot just be in a simulation. Many people believe though that God works in mysterious ways and in the end has a master plan for us all. What if God is just controlling us just like we control characters on games like the Sims, and we just think that we are actually in control of our destinies? One of the leading theories scientist claim proves this idea is the Brain-In-A-Vat Argument. In this theory a person’s brain is removed from their body and is floating in life sustaining fluid. The brain then is connected with wires that simulate the impulses it would normally be receiving, all being...

...most technologically advanced society in all history, there are currently no air-tight explanations for most of the true wonders of our planet and beyond. The Great Pyramids of Egypt are the oldest structures on earth, contain compelling evidence of a civilization far more advanced than ours, and most likely existed thousands of years before the great flood. With their original exteriors, they could probably be seen from the moon. The Mayan Civilization left behind incredible structures containing precise calculations and prophecies regarding the exact date of end of the world........Do you know that date? A site being studied on the side of Mt. Ararat in Turkey may be the remains of the Biblical Noah's Ark. Scientists are currently quietly investigating a site off the western tip of Cuba that some say may be part of the lost city of Atlantis. We know less about the bottom of our own seas than we do about outer space. There is a form on the surface of Mars that strongly appears to resemble an Egyptian face carving. Is there a link? These are just a few of the many fascinating and mysterious places we intend to visit on these pages. From sunken cities to lost treasure to the forgotten wisdom of the ancients, the purpose of this section is to study and try to shed light on the most unusual places on earth. This section is a work in progress, so please be tolerant of our under construction pages. The Pyramids If one had to choose the top mysterious power spot on earth, the...

..."Oh, shut up!" says Claudia, blushing."1 may read the astrology column, but I certainly don't believe it. I just read it for fun. But, the fact is, during the past twenty-five years there have been thousands of alleged sightings of UFOs, and not a single one has led to any solid evidence of their existence. What do you make of that?" "I think we should look at this situation the other way around," Ralph says."Up until now, nobody has shown that UFOs don't exist, so I think we should give those people who claim they have seen them the benefit of the doubt. We should believe in UFOs and extraterrestrials until the sightings are proven false." "Well, okay. Let's suppose, just for the sake of argument, that I admit the existence of UFOs and t~eir little green drivers. How are we supposed to respond to them? What are we supposed to do?"C1audia asks. "For starters, we should extend an open invitation to them," answers Ralph."They may come from a dying planet where millions of their compatriots desperately strug gle for survival.Their sun may be burning out, their water supply exhausted, and their soil poisoned with toxic chemicals. Surely they deserve a second chance on a new planet." "Maybe so," Claudia says in a patronizing tone."And now that you mention it, we probably have a legal obligation to let them in. Our current immigration laws say that we have to admit at least ten thousand applicants annually, from every major nation. If those aliens would just sign the right papers, we'd...
