...No Homework! I think that schools should not make their students have homework, because it causes health issues/stress, less time for other activities, and they don't have help or assistance. Kids should not have homework every night for a very long time after they had already been in schools for 7 hours or more. So these are some reasons why kids do not need to have a lot of homework after school every day monday-friday for many years. First, Kids do not have enough time for other things if they are always having to do their homework after school. According to Harris cooper kids should get 10 minutes of homework times their grade level so kids can do other things to. Harris cooper is the chairman of the “Battle against homework” at Duke university. One way this interferes with family/friend time. This makes kids not have as much friends if they can’t hang out with them.Kids have so much homework every day the are never out of their room and with their family until they have to go bed. And then the same thing repeats every night the entire school year. Also, kids go to their friends house and then at around 10 o'clock at night they have to do a lot of homework so they are tired the next day. Next, Homework is not even to improve academics so kids can’t be with their parents just to do something that doesn’t even make them smarter....

...I believe that kids should´t be allowed to take homework or do homework and that is my argument. Students should not be sent with school work to home. They just came from school and it would not be fair if they take school with them. Some kids don´t even get enough sleep so that they can finish there work before the next day. Some students don´t even go outside with there family so they can work and they should be with there family not trying to turn in their essays or math page. When kids or students take their work home it´s disruptive. And because of this they don´t have time to play or do their won time watching tv or be with their family. Especially at this young age they should be out in the park running with other kids. I get really...

...Kids should have less homework so we would be able to do all of it. Most kids think we have too much homework therefore they don't do it. So kids should indeed have less homework and not because we are lazy but because we get a lot of homework from most classes while we still need to do our chores at home, get 8 or more hours of sleep and still wake up early for school to get more homework for that night. While needing to do homework, our parents still expect us to do our chores. In my household, my parents make me clean after everyone gets done eating and I also have to babysit my little brothers and my baby brother. It's already hard enough to just finish my homework so having to do chores after school everyday doesn't help....

...Since Roberto Nevilis introduced it to the world as a punishment in 1905, there have been many arguments to whether or not homework should be required. What initially started as punishment for kids who messed around in class has become a mandatory task that all students are required to do daily. I’m here to end that, I intend to show you that students should not be required to complete homework for a grade. Homework consumes too much time and leaves no space for extracurricular activities and causes health problems. On top of that, many students don’t even have the resources required to complete the homework. Despite these things, homework is still a graded assignment that if failed to complete, can drastically bring down a student's grade. Consider the fact that the American standards for homework is much lower than anywhere else in the world. CNN conducted a study that showed that on average, in America students receive three times more homework than the recommended amount. 56% of students said that homework is a primary source of stress and frustration. Stress causes a vicious cycle. It can lead to heart diseases, depression, exhaustion, and pain, which in turn lead to more stress....

...Jenell Obie Nov. 9, 2014 Professor Daryl Fields Homework Assignment #2 Sports are very important part of the culture of the United States. When planning to expend a U.S franchise overseas, you need to think of all the factors of local cultures and have a plan to be able to overcome those factors to increase popularity abroad. To be able to attract new athletes, you must understand the cultural differences of their countries. So when taking sport franchises overseas is to make sure we understand the social structures, religion, manners, customs, values, attitudes, language, and personal communication. Just because it’s popular here in America doesn’t mean it will be a hit in other countries. There are many cultures abroad, and it’s nearly impossible to predict what all those cultures will enjoy. Market research comes into play heavily when deciding to take our sports overseas. Now, as the U.S. sport franchises try and go global they are scouting and recruiting foreign athletes, which makes not only that team but also it might make that sport popular with that country of which these foreign players come from. Just like with any business wanting to go global they have to be willing to adapt to that countries customs and rules, for sports it might mean how they play the sport or the rules of the sport and the overall sportsmanship. The most important thing I believe franchises should do to ensure their product is appropriate is to first see if their product is adaptable and...

...Persuasive Essay Do you ever wonder why your child or student is feeling stressed out these days, that they been turning in low quality work, or not getting much sleep? Well, I know why. Your child or student has been getting too much homework to do. I think that this amount of homework should be reduced. One reason why I think that the amount of homework should be reduced is because if a student is getting too stressed doing their work, they will not perform that well in school or extracurricular activities. Also, If kids are too busy doing their work, they will not get much time to sleep.Lastly, if a child is getting more time to do a homework activity, they will slow down and turn in quality work, as they have more time for doing the...

...Gelais 1 Mrs. Trouville English CP III 15 December 2015 Should Schools Be Done with Homework? Have you ever enjoyed a day of relaxation? Have you ever experienced the thrill of having a day just to goof off? Has homework kept you away from that? Kids hate homework. Some kids say that homework is just what they learned in class the same day and they are just repeating it. Why do students need to repeat what we did in class that day? Is it necessary? Some reasons why homework is not effective is that many teachers give too much homework, and often teachers do not coordinate the quantity given. Secondly, unnecessary assignments raise the stress level of the students. However, the main argument against homework is that most of it is just boring practice. Teachers give too much homework to kids and it’s not necessary. In an article written by Lance J. Falk it states that “kids have lives beyond school and schoolwork. About 65 percent of kids, ages of 6-13, play competitive sports. But, unfortunately, some of those kids quit playing the sport they love due to the fact that they have too much schoolwork to tackle during their evening” (Falk). If a student has three soccer practices a week, which consumes 2.5 hours of his Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, how do you think he or she feels? He or she would obviously feel very tired, right? But now if that same student had two hours of homework three of the five days that he or she has school he or she would...

...Book Review The Homework Myth: Why Our Kids Get Too Much of a Bad Thing by Alfie Kohn University of Montevallo EDF561: Evaluations in Education Susan Scott Alfie Kohn’s (2006) book, The Homework Myth: Why Our Kids Get Too Much of a Bad Thing, gave me food for thought. Kohn opposes homework of any kind in any form for any grade level. He explores each commonly given, pro-homework argument in an attempt to persuade his readers, both parents and teachers, of the uselessness and possibly detrimental effects of the long-standing educational tradition. The first claim Kohn (2006) makes is that our children are “missing out on their childhoods” (p. 3). His opinion is that children spend seven hours in school everyday; that should be enough. He argues that kids need more time to be kids. Such time would include family time, friend time, time spent in extracurricular activities such as sports, music and art lessons, and play groups for younger kids. I agree. Kids do need time to enjoy their childhood. It is the most carefree time of their lives, relatively speaking. Does that mean they should have no homework at all? I am not yet ready to agree completely with that attitude. “Does homework improve learning?” Kohn (2006, p. 25) asks. The most significant issue he raises, in an attempt to answer that question, is regarding the kind of homework about which we are talking. Assignments can range from useless, fill-in-the-blank worksheets to extended projects that...

...Ugh! Homework! Everyone feels differently about it. Some people think homework has benefits for Kid’s learning. People like me, think it does more bad than good. Which is why I think that my school should ban homework. First of all , doing homework doesnt give enough time for other activities. It can also cause harm to a child's attitude towards school. Lastly homework can cause health problems like stress and sleeping disorders. I think my school should get rid of homework because it takes time away from other activities. The article, The case for and against homework, says that too much homework can cause damage to a students family time. I know that when me and my sister have too much homework and studying, sometimes we don’t even see each...

...Why do teachers give homework and does it even help?”Ideally homework should be about taking something home, spending a few curious and interesting moments in which children might engage with parents, and then getting that project back to school — an organizational triumph," she says. "A nag-free activity could engage family time: Ask a parent about his or her own childhood. Interview siblings." Teachers give too much non effective homework. Margot Steinberg of White Plains, whose children are in the Ardsley district, said: ''The kids get so much homework, they're not getting something out of it. They're doing it to get it done.''If this were to happen in our school there would be a tremendous change and happier students. Homework causes students to...

...Is Homework Harmful or Helpful? Homework is defined as an out of class task assigned to students to help them practice and prepare for their future. Homework has been around for a very long time. It is set and traced as a tradition of having teachers assigning work and students completing it. Parents say that teachers require it and teachers say that parents demand more of it. Teachers assign homework to help some students improve their grade and pass the course for those of who do not do well on tests or standardized examinations. Can homework be considered helpful or harmful to students? This controversy turns into arguments and disagreements. For me, homework totally can help students in study because there are many benefits we can get from doing homework. Everyone has their own opinion right? I have my own opinion too about this topic because I think it is better if I say homework is helpful to students. Why? There are my own reasons why I support this topic. First of all, homework builds up an initiative in students. They initiate study. Teachers get the schoolwork done from students whereas students initiate doing homework. There is a sense of responsibility associated with completing their homework. Children feel responsible for finishing homework and accomplished when they do it. They start allotting their time to study and play thus learning to complete their scheduled tasks in the time they have. Moreover, they learn to do things on their own. They manage...

...We Should NOT Have Homework on Weekends We shouldn’t have to do homework on weekends as homework is a school based and no one should need to do it on weekends activity. A lot of people would be busy or have already made plans. Anyway would you prefer to stay at home all day doing homework or rather be out with the family fishing? etc. Homework should be banned or ONLY handed out to those who would love to do it (not me…). Although, homework is important and we should have to do it during the week but no one has time to sit around and do homework at weekends because a lot of people are extremely busy. I suggest homework should be only during weekday evenings. Wouldn’t you rather be out with the family or friends at weekends, enjoying life? Actually I do not really believe we should ever have homework. We spend 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, 40 weeks a year and 14 years (Kindy to Year 12 unless you dropped out) in our lifetime, in school. We have all the schooling/class time to do our work in which is a very long time. So why do we even need homework? According to most teachers some of them disagree and some agree with homework, but maybe it is good to have a little homework, just not on weekends as we only have 12 weeks a years on weekends or holidays and I know isn’t a lot. Homework is good to have if needing to study for tests or exams or even if you just like doing homework. Would you waste your precious time seven days a week? Homework should be only given at weekends...

...school! Do you like waking up at 6am to go to school? How about not getting enough sleep every night? Are you tired of being tired all day, everyday because of school? Having shorter school days would improve grades and improve attitudes in the mornings. Studies show minds don’t start up until about 9 am. So why should we start school so early? Children between the ages of 12 to 18 need about eight hours of sleep each night and sometimes even nine. From research, only about 8 percent of teens report optimal sleep, and 69 percent report insufficient sleep. “I’ve gone through bouts of depression’ from too much homework”, another student says. Most teens get assigned 17.5 hours...
